Imagine one of these on the end of a whipped in cross though: He's still not getting the 8 foot that a bear is going to be though and that's without a jump. Rob182
I still don't think it's going to be the walk-over you're hinting at Folski! Remember, a Zebra is basically a stripy horse. The power of their kick will be immense. Their hooves might not be great for a neat passing game, but I'd say they are designed to be set piece takers. A decent run up and a full-power kick from one of them could be deadly. I'll admit, the 'Bears strength and size is making them slight favourites, but I've rarely seen a bear switch from two-legged standing to four-legged running without needing a second to get their bearings (no pun intended). I think it's clear who we're rooting for, anyway! I hope the penguin referees have had their weetabix, I've a feeling this is going to be a bit of a battle!

Seat68
A zebra cant really kick forward though can it, surely its better suited to kicking backwards and in the long run, thats not going to fly.
Rob182
Diagonal-kick! That's there preferred method, I'd imagine. The Zebra's best bet, is to use their agility/ pace to their advantage. If they can spread their players around a wide pitch, knocking the ball (diagonal-kicking!) to each other, around the slow bears, and using their pace advantage to get up the pitch, I can see them catching the 'Bears on the counter, many times. The 'Bears wont always have 5 giant defenders in their box, and the Zebra's will know this.
Rodders
do the dolphins have another game or have they been permanently ejected for failing to comply with basic equipment failures? If they're still in perhaps a petition to move their 2nd fixture to a more aquatically based playing field would be advisable. In much the same vein of a certain well known football club, perhaps one half could be carried out in the sea and the other on land? Clearly the first half would have to be played in water to enable both teams to survive until the end of the match. Or is this just another foolhardy suggestion taken from the drawer of Blatter's barmy notions? I am but merely a hopeful dolphin fan looking out for a less destructive fate. Bears are going to maul the zebras I fear, however. The greater flexibility of the bears guards against a cramping that may undo those pesky zebras, for whom a stray hoof is more than likely going to lead to a red card.
Stevo985 Posted August 13, 2014 Author VT Supporter Share Posted August 13, 2014 Straight knockout. The Dolphins are out. As specified, the rules of football are unchanged. Football is played on a grass pitch. If the Dolphins want to put a team forward for the Water Polo world cup then they are free to do so. The SIFF investigation continues. Popular Post Stevo985 Posted August 13, 2014 Author VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted August 13, 2014 Match 3 - Kodiak Bears vs Zebras The second day of the SIFF world cup provided a stark contrast to the one sided games that spectators enjoyed on Day 1, with the first game seeing the Kodiak Bears taking on the (half) dark horses and hosts, the Zebras, in a much tighter affair. The bears kicked off, pinging the ball round expertly and using their pace to keep possession away from the home favourites, these bears clearly coping with the conditions much better than their Arctic cousins. Despite the early possession, it was the Zebras who struck first, scything open the bear defence with some diagonal one-twos and setting up Zebrahimovic to slash the ball into the roof of the net past the rooted Beargovic in the Bear net. The Bears hit back almost immediately, however, moving up a gear and winning a set piece deep in the Zebra’s half. The ball was whipped in and Bearhami comfortably rose highest above some unorthodox backheel defending and thundered a header into the back of the net. That’s how it stayed until half time, with the Bears dominating possession but finding it hard to get in behind their pacy opponents. The Zebras, meanwhile, struggled to keep their discipline with 38 handballs registered in the first half. The second half saw more chances as the bears tired and let the Zebras run at them more and more, meanwhile resorting to more direct play as they realised their height and power advantage. On the hour mark the zebras won a penalty, Mr Ed (of horse descent), bursting into the box only to be practically squashed by Ben the Bear falling forwards from his hind legs and unable to manoeuvre out of the way. Mr Ed stepped up to take the kick himself, unconventionally backheeled it with extraordinary power, but saw the huge hand of Beargovic paw the ball round the post. A frantic finale saw the first red card of the tournament as Joey Bearton hacked at the heels of Zebradley Johnson, only for the latter to react poorly and kick Bearton in the face. Johnson was dismissed and from the resulting free kick, the bears again fired home after the initial cross was fumbled by the zebra goalkeeper who’s lack of hands were causing him trouble. That’s how it finished. A late rally from the Zebras proving fruitless as the Bears hung on to advance in the tournament. Result - Kodiak Bears 2 - 1 Zebras
Rob182
Dammit, that flippin' Zebradley Johnson. That's £1 down the drain.

Popular Post Stevo985 Posted August 13, 2014 Author VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted August 13, 2014 Match 4 - Kangaroos vs Honeybadgers The second match of day 2 saw the much fancied Kangaroos coming up against the plucky underdogs of the Honeybadgers in what many people had cited as an upset in waiting. Unfortunately, whilst the game was a tense and close affair, it didn’t provide the spectacle we’ve become accustomed to from the first 3 games. The two teams rather cancelled each other out. The Honeybadgers aggression and hustle meant that they constantly turned over possession from the kangaroos, but their tiny stature and inability to do anything more than nudge the ball forward meant that they could do very little with it. The game became a scrappy affair, with most of it being contested in the packed midfield. The Kangaroos were restricted to long range efforts, Wayne Kangarooney bringing a stunning save out of Badger Friedel in the Honeybadger goal. The honeybadgers managed a few efforts on goal, but they were tame shots that were comfortably gathered each time by Kangazares. Half time came and went with the teams still deadlocked. That was finally broken in the 80th minute. The ball bobbled loos in the midfield and, with his back to goal, Roo-d Gullit unleashed an absolutely thunderous drive with his powerful legs. Badger Friedel got behind the shot but it carried him into the goal, breaking several of his bones in the process. He was replaced by Ed De Honey, but the Honeybadgers never really got back into the game and it petered out to a drab 1-0 win for the Kangaroos. An unconvincing performance from one of the pre-tournament favourites, but they’ll be hoping to grow into the tournament when they meet less negative opponents.
