Zatman
well Westwood has played mainly about 30 yards behind the striker as he is the designated defensive midfielder at moment. if he is given more freedom and shackles released I think he could be lot more dangerous
DCJonah
Westwood is a decent passer of the ball but I don't think he's a true creative midfield player and that's what we need.
useless
Now we have the defensive Sanchez that means we'll have to sacrifice something going forward. So I think we need someone in the midfield three to compensate replacing either Westwood or Delph or at least someone as an option. Maybe we could get someone on in loan, a James Milner type player. VillanousOne
Yeah, exactly the type of player we need. It's not only that, but Westwood will be able to influence the game a bit more if he's allowed to push forward a little more IMO. Delph as well should get more freedom to join the attack With the hopeful arrival of sanchez and our players and system, i dont believe both Delph and Westwood will start. The latter will now be on the bench. think the opposite. Sanchez will replace KEA and he will be destroyer, Westwood the metronome and Delph the box to box player But we still have no creativity in there. I think we need nzogbia, grealish or cole in there with delph and sanchez. Especially at home. I would hope the signing of Sanchez would allow us to carry a creative midfielder like Zog, Grealish or Cole as the problem always seems to be that Lambert ends up bypassing midfield due to the fact we lack any specialism in that area, we have no dedicated player who is good at anyone thing. Delph is almost an allrounder but hard to define his best role. Westwood, KEA can't seem to do any one midfield discipline well. Both have their merits but it would be far better if you could say we had: One - Inside forward/advanced playmaker One - Defensive midfielder One - Box to box midfielder One - Technical passing midfielder One - All rounder or similar variants of the above
SikhInTrinity
NRC didn't like playing the role. Always thought of himself a box to box midfielder. If he convinced himself of staying as a DM, he'd have had a better career for me.

Can we change Westwood to support instead of defend though, and the inside forwards to attack rather than support. Also, complete wing backs and Advanced Forward. I love a cheeky trequartista too.
flamingsombrero
If it means the opposition don't have free reign to walk the ball right to the edge of our penalty area every single time our attack breaks down anymore, he's my new hero.

Tekkers is the best Trequartista on FM for us. I've given up playing as Villa though the new iPad version of the game, no matter what you do, who you buy you still get fecked over by the most ridiculous teams and scenarios, even if you make a good signing who does well, the code kicks in and he gets injured for 3 months. The terms of his contract (supposedly) is he gets to play no10 spot. Unless we arent going to play with any width, then id agree. Could see us going with the 5-3-2 which i think is Lamberts fav formation by the way.

villa89
NRC did exactly what we want Sanchez to do and he just got abuse IIRC No he didn't. We want sanchez to be able to pass the ball more than two yards without giving it away and not to think that he's the second coming of David Platt and go bombing forward hopelessly out of position. It's baffling how many people on here think that a Vancouver whitecaps midfielder was anything other than terrible. Serious case of seeing players through claret and blue specs. I haven't seen Joe Cole's contract but I can 100% guarantee you for a fact that there is no term like that in his, or in any other players, contract. Nigel continued to mouth off so O'Neill went for him
Qwpzxjor1
if this gets completed today, is saturday too soon , or would you throw him straight in? He would still need a UK work permit. There would be no problem getting one, as previously discussed earlier in this thread, but the wait for that to be approved would make Saturday impossible. I would expect to see him vs Newcastle though.
