MPG? Yeah, if you're lucky :D

We don't talk mpg or saving world with a C63. Last time I had one, I didn't manage to get to Weston-super-Mare and back to Birmingham on a full tank.😮

Hey @Xela. Had to take my jerrycan to the Petrol Station today to get some petrol for the lawnmower. It has to have Super Plus unleaded.

Decided to just fill the car up with the same so as not to have to dick about with 2 purchases.

On the way home the car was driving like an absolute dream!

No it wasn't, it was driving exactly the same as always 😎

You only notice the difference in performance cars @sidcow, not your everyday shopping trolley

How you getting on with it

I assume you are constantly running out of charge.

Can't do your regular 600 mile journey

Have ruined countless roads and car parks due to the weight.

Have had a large number of car fires

Have had to replace the battery at least twice

And have by now sent the whole thing to landfill as non of it is recyclable?

I pick it up on Weds so not yet encountered any issues 😀

the only criteria I had on range was can I get to Villa Park and back without having to stop and recharge , it seems to tick that box , not sure if it can do Stoke on a cold Weds night though

Ah well. We'll have to rely on @NurembergVillan to advise us on what a gigantic mistake he's made. Specially as to why it's not as recyclable as the 8,000 gallons of fuel it would otherwise burn in it's lifetime (even though it is actually all recyclable anyway).

2% BIK , 100% offset on the corporation tax and cheaper cost per mile is a small price to pay for making Greta happy 😛

I'd imagine a lot of EV purchases are for the tax benefits rather than the sustainability reasons at the moment.

Ev.....tanking resale values is undermining the whole sector.  The lack of battery life history and the huge replacement costs are going to kill the market pretty quickly.  Huge unfilled market for battery repair is the area of growth, as things stand. Company car.......yea,  my own personal vehicle no thanks.

If the aftermarket can repair or replace batteries at a fair price the market should soar. It’s just too big a leap into the unknown now, especially a 3 or 4 year old car which is out of warranty.

My EV is the first (and hopefully the last) time I've taken out a car on a lease. Up until I got it I was happily driving a 10 year old ICE, and I'd still happily buy a ten year old ICE car. But I wouldn't dream of it with EVs, it's not just the long term health of the batteries, it's how much the technology is predicted to change over the next few years. It might turn out to nothing, but we could also see game-changing tech that causes the arse to fall out of the market for our current  style of batteries.

I'm enjoying the car (kind of), but there's a non-trivial chance that it's worth not much more than scrap in 5 years, for the first time in my car-owning life it makes sense to stomach a fixed cost and eliminate the risk. The technology and the market will mature and stabilise, but I'm not comfortable with it right now.

Manufacturers need to bite the bullet and offer exchange batteries at discounted prices,  they could then repair the batteries.........if they make them repairable which the one I have seen are not, double sealed , filled with liquid and individual cells are hard to replace and that's the issue. Batteries made up of 100's of cells and one going rogue compromises the whole battery..Modular batteries please .

Where is the evidence for lack of battery life.  Pretty much everything I've seen (away from the right wing oil and gas shill press) suggests there is absolutely no issue with battery life, at least for anything made in the last 5 years or so.  They're a totally different animal to what they were 10 years ago.

I’d thought the recent mood music was that these cars were doing better and keeping full capacity longer than had been pessimistically anticipated?
