  1. Would you want to sit and field the same inane questions week after week? Seriously, “what does a win mean to the players?” Dire journalism!
  2. You might get to see Jonny et al chasing down 450
  3. Wonderful final episode, as others have said - perfect way to finish it. Definitely up for a full rewatch now: BCS into BB!
  4. For me, cars are a way of getting from a to b, not bothered what it looks like.
  5. I don’t normally pay too much attention to the FDR but just noticed it currently has Leicester away as a 4, same as Arsenal away. Seems a bit outdated.
  6. First competitive away game I’ve been able to get a ticket to (in the Villa end) since Crewe at the same stage 3 years ago. Looking forward to it.
  7. —————Martinez————— Cash Buendia Mings Digne ——————Kamara—————— ———McGinn———Luiz———— ——————Coutinho————— ———Ings————Watkins——— only way he’s getting in the first xi isn’t it!
  8. Referred to this in the match reaction thread but I assume they were short staffed on Saturday due to the train strikes. Having said that, the service of those that were there (Holte Suite, half time) was very slow. Even a little training on how to cope with the queue for the new starters would be good, they were looking pretty overwhelmed by people shouting at them from all angles (not condoning this, it doesn’t make anything any quicker). Also having more card readers could be a good idea, they kept losing it! I understand the issue with agency staff not being paid enough to care about working super quickly but maybe that’s where the club could step in and incentivise a bit… or bring it in house.
  9. Thought he was excellent on Saturday. Would probably play Chambers alongside him if Carlos is out for a while.
  10. Great to be back at VP! Before some reflections on the match, just a little word for the poor bar staff in the Holte Suite at half time - only 4 people on the bar where there are usually 10+ - in my mind it seemed pretty obvious that they were understaffed due to the train strike… unfortunately they were getting a lot of abuse for slow service (the service was slow but they were swamped and shouting at them wasn’t going to make it any quicker, disappointed in some fellow fans there). Quite enjoyed walking to and from town to the game, probably won’t make a habit of it but it wasn’t too bad. Planned to go via the Barton’s Arms on the way, great as ever, and chances upon the excellently named Sacks of Potatoes on the way back. 3rd time in 4 seasons my Everton supporting mate has made the trip down (last two with me as I unfortunately couldn’t make the Wesley game), his recent VP record reads P3 L3 F1 A7 - always a pleasure meeting him after the game Kamara was our best player, absolutely everywhere and did the simple things well (mopping up) and looked to pass progressively too. McGinn much better in the second half. Ramsey better in the first and wilted a bit. Coutinho was barely noticeable whereas when Buendia came on for him the difference was night and day - suddenly we looked so much more potent in possession, he was popping up everywhere and looking threatening, great for him to get a goal. Watkins was slightly frustrating but came away with two assists. Desperately short on confidence, I reckon a goal would do wonders for him. Nice finish by Ings for his goal and an all round decent performance. Mings was fantastic. Dealt with everything very calmly and seemed to thrive on the crowd getting behind him post captaincy-gate. Carlos solid and dependable. Cash was good at times but looked goosed after about 20 minutes in the heat. Digne had an average game capped by the OG. Martinez did well at the end to catch a few crosses. Great win, much deserved for the first 86 minutes. Then they scored straight from the kick off at 2-0 and we collectively shat ourselves. Looked really ragged at the end. McGinn trying to get instructions from the bench instead of focusing on what was going on on the pitch was a bit embarrassing. The worst bit was Gerrard surrounded by about ten back room staff all flapping as we were making our subs on 90 mins, looked like a circus on the touchline. Don’t want to see Austin McPhee and his pad of paper again!! We look terrible from set pieces defensively and that is his job! Really happy with the win though!
  11. Wow, fantastic episode. Brilliant performance Rhea Seehorn. “When I knew him, he was” - presume it’s not the last we’ll see of her as I think she’ll be in the finale in the Gene timeline but what a great way to close off the BCS era for her character.
  12. Woah. Keep the great man’s name out of your mouth.
  13. Ah man, I really like Bertie, exciting player to watch and strange that he isn’t being kept around to come off the bench in games like Saturday where we are crying out for a spark. If we want to get into Europe, we need a squad with depth.
  14. If you park at Star City then maybe aim to get there for 11, or before 11:30. There’s the indoor multi storey bit as well so don’t panic if you get there and the outdoor car park looks full.
  15. You do realise we don’t own any of those players right?
  16. Not often we play at 12:30 on Boxing Day. Or in 30 degree heat!
  17. Someone at the club is reading this thread
  18. I’d be surprised if they have 4 services an hour on a strike day?! I’d book the national express coach if I were you. Ground is about an hour walk from the station.
  19. I heard the commentator say he wasn’t on the pitch to defend the corner because of this but then watched it back on MOTD and there he was in the box defending.
  20. Think he had 49 for us (could be in all comps)
