  1. Think we should keep at least for another season. Another midfielder we are currently lauding as a great Mr Stan Petrov, played a great debut game against West Ham and did nothing for 1.5 seasons, suddenly it clicked and we all loved him. Stan said he had problems settling and so did his family and he was only coming from Scotland. The club was a complete shambles last season and we sacked the person whose job it was to help new foreign players settle. This also smells like the same situation when Angel arrived, new young family struggling to settle etc. I personally would keep him
  2. To me Petrov is like the England Cricket Captain late 70s (Mike Something). He wanst the best cricketer and on playing ability didnt deserve to be part of the Engand Cricket Team but he was a great Captain and organiser which England needed and was missing at the time. Having Petrov around the squad will be a good thing to help guide and encourage the other players (especially the younger ones). Seeing Lescott and Gabby are our senior pros this is no bad thing at all. Hand around shoulder or boot up backside Petrov can provide that, He should become Club Captain.
  3. Could be promising, I loved the Away kit we had that was blue on top, white bottom with a claret bar running around the middle. I Think it was around 1996-97 about the Time Collymore signed and we had AST as sponsors.
  4. Was he in goal when we stuffed 6 past Sunderland?
  5. He isnt going to say he doesnt want them before he has had the chance to line up replacements. We should only keep them if we can not get anything better. Personally would want them all out and rebuild. Bit like the gutting jobs Taylor and Big Ron did. We need to build a team and players such as Richards maybe talented but they do not want to fit into a designated system of play.
  6. Wasnt the point I was trying to get across. I know all about the we deserved to win (Ron Saunders Scrap Book can be used as a source ) due to number of wins. The point was Tony X has said he wants us in the Champs League and people were saying it wasnt possible. Anyone at Chesterfield vs Villa circa 1970 would never believed that 12 years later we would win the European Cup. Shankly also spotted the potential Villa had in those early 70s. Told Ian Ross a Liverpool reserve player to get himself down to Villa as something is happening down there, when we came calling wanting to sign him.
  7. 1976 we get Promoted back to Div 1 after just short of ten years away including a trip to Div 3 (League 1 to you youngsters). 1981 we win the league But we was told we wasn't that good Ipswich deserved the title. 1982 - European Champions 6 years from a position we are in now. Anything is possible and I will continue to dream even if we drop to League 2.
  8. Bit like Graham Taylor bringing in Simms. Old Head to guide the team
  9. Does he have thighs the size of Tree Trunks?
  10. Personally thought the Goalkeeper was badly positioned
  11. All Riley has done/did/does is put up suggestions to the Management Team (Whoever decides the Transfers). The list above just highlights the ones that Villa and Liverpool managed to sign. Who knows what other Gems he found we failed to get. We were linked heavily with Deli Ali before Spurs nicked in. Also Villa were linked to Coutinho and Riley then moved to Liverpool. Next thing we know Coutinho moves to Liverplop. Perhaps someone has seen that Riley has done some good work but certain People wasnt listening. If we can get better then let him go, but if we cant no use chucking him out to appease the baying dogs need for a scapegoat.
  12. I think Ciaran would do a job in the Championship and that we might as well save money for buying an upgrade if/when we get promoted. No use paying out now for someone who would not be of required standard in a years time and having to buy again.
  13. You mean Everton who are looking at moving from their current home. Liverpool were also considering moving.out. Or Man U who slap an advert on anything that moves including a different sponsor for their training kit!
  14. Times move on. They never used to have cross bars or substitutes. New Fangled inventions. No Problem with Renaming Stadium, we moved out of one when we had just won the double!
  15. We are moving into the unknown and would rather be positive about it. After the experience with Lerner I think most will be wary by in the first week it would be nice not to be too down on the new owners. As for Shirt Sponsors Villa have had a shirt sponsor since 1982, Starting with Davenports. So there wasnt much of the 80s that wasnt commercialised. Crown Paints for Liverpool, Sharp for Man Utd. Any Mr. Mooney I thought you would be happy with a red in the Villa bed!
  16. I like people before me here thought of Carrick. And the reason: Merson when he left us was out on his feet, but dropped down to the Championship and helped Portsmouth rampage that season. Portsmouth knew he wasn't up for the top level and let him go to Walsall. He didnt do too badly playing wise for them, less said about his Managerial Career. Carrick could be the Old Head we need in our midfield.
  17. Sorry but this should have been seen a mile off. Lescott was crap at the baggies and hadnt been decent for a while. Same with Richards - Did nothing for years at Man City , waddled off to Italy and failed there. Why on earth did we think he was the player for us and more important our Captain. HE has not done anything in his career to deserve being a captain. Gabby - Been shite and caused behind the scenes problems since ONeil left.
  18. This time last year we had been stuffed by Southampton 6-1, somehow managed to survive relegation and then lost to Burnley. Followed by one of the most gutless performances in an FA Cup Final. Sherwood was a disaster and we only played well for about 3 or 4 games and luckily that was enough to get us over the line.
  19. He unfortunatly met my expectations
  20. We will miss him as much as Nil Lampety the last wonder winger we signed
  21. I say Keep him and let him along with others start to build a team spirit. I dont feel that the French influx last summer is to blame at all for this season. Sherwood failed last summer to bring the squad together and play as a team. Leicester were greater than their sum of parts we were much less
  22. Never did want him or Richardson felt they had left their best behind at Man City. I cant understand why he is being played, though Black is an Ex Small Heath Coach
  23. Not in todays world. You buy a player for say 12 million 4 year contract. Say he stays the same value he would lose 3 million per season in relative value, until nothing at end of contract. So anything over 6.75 million for him (presuming he was on 4 year contact) could be considered profit.
