  1. Couldn't see him lasting long with that attitude under Ron Saunders who would have been ruthless.
  2. Alan Nixon on Twitter mentioned James Bree of Barnsley yesterday. Said Villa were very keen.
  3. Club Legend can mean different things but I see it as someone who has made an impact on the club in someway not necessary through trophies or their personal skill level. In the past we have legends from one of the lowest periods in the Clubs life - Andy Lockhead for example. Name still sung to this Day. Charlie Aitken stuck by through thick and very thing back to thick again. Ray Graydon whose goals got us back to division 1, Brian Little, Andy Gray but even Frank Carrodus is considered by some old timers and Alex Cropley is a legend for his ability to keep running like Forest Gump. Anyone on the 1982 Team of course gets Legend Status but I often think Allan Evans is overlooked when you consider he stayed with us when relegated and made sure we got back to then Div 1. Allan Mcanally only really scored for half a season but again as Legend Status among some (including me). Even Paul Birch who like Cropley could run and run is still sung about. 90s Yorke, McGrath etc I could go on. To myself I always loved the larger than life Character - John Carew. Angel another. Mellberg defiantly in even if just for his 5-1 finger pose. Barry was excellent footballer and upto when he left a good servant but I don't view him as a Legend. Over the past few years -Benteke. Players that leave you with memories and have a bit of folk-lore around them are legends.
  4. This could be good from our point of view. Get back some insurance money on him retiring, just like Ivo Stas.
  5. Not always - You used to always have partnerships up front, often big man little man, and mostly the big man bought space for the little man to nip in and score. Usually battering the defence about. If you were lucky and had a big man that could also score, your team stood a chance. Think Withe and Shaw.
  6. Like a lot here not a Gabby fan and thought he should have been sold in Lambert's time. But he is here and being paid by us so if Bruce thinks he has a use for him and results are going well then so be it. Wasting more energy on deriding Gabby isnt going to help. I can do that when playing Fifa and he misses a goal (not going to accept I control the controller)!
  7. I think I read a write up from a fan at Fulham who said he is a slow starter at a new club and we need to be patient.
  8. He is the mirror to Paul McGrath. Has the body to compete but doesnt have the Football Brain to be where he is needed. McGrath with his dodgy Knees just made sure he was in the right place at the right time. Micah does a lot of running around and often not in the position of the pitch he is meant to be in.
  9. Bruce cant come in and say clean slate everyone has a chance to play and then exclude Gabby. He would undermine himself straight away. He would have to wait and let the players undermine themselves and give him a reason for excluding them. What Bruce needs to do is be strong and exclude them when they display a bad attitude etc. We have an owner in XIA that would appear so far to back the managers decisions in this regard. Just like Jose is giving Rooney enough rope at Man U. He can turn around now and say look he just isn't good enough at the moment and drop him. I dont think many United fans would argue now but they would have probably kicked a stink at beginning of the season. I dont think Gabby is upto the challenge too far gone but I look forward to him hopefully trying to prove me wrong.
  10. I Felt we looked like we didnt have a gameplan, though I missed a chunk of the first half came home just after Wolves had equalized.
  11. I think it is this hasnt appeared on my feed
  12. People forgetting we are a different prospect to when GT left Watford dropped down a division to join us. Back then we were only 5 years removed from being champions of Europe.
  13. Ron Saunders wasnt considered exciting and had failed at Norwich and Man City the two season previously.
  14. He doesnt inspire me but I thought Lambert would work and even liked the idea of Garde. I was right about Sherwood and RDM so I cant predict the future BUT If Bruce follows previous form and we sack him in 2/3 years time I will take that as we will get to Sack him as a mid table Premier Team.
  15. Saw somewhere Phil Neville had been approached about a coaching position.
  16. If Bruce gets Gabby firing again then I wouldnt mind him being part of the forward line but I think Gabby is too far gone in that he hasnt worked hard enough past few years to maintain his fitness etc
  17. At least it seems Bruce can teach Gabby about weight loss!
  18. Any reason Jed Steer isnt our number 2 and even competing to be number 1? He did a job for Huddersfield last season in the same division. We have the opportunity to develop two decent keepers and Bunn gets put in. Steer and Gollini could be pushing each other to perform, knowing if they didnt the other one steps up.
  19. Oh for a Brian Clough to be sniffing around. Back around 1974 Cloughy wanted the Villa job as he could see the potential to rebuild his own career and the for Villa to get back to where it once was. Ellis didnt want to risk it probably scared of sharing the limelight with such a big ego.
  20. Not sure why Hoddle's name keeps coming up. He was terrible at Wolves, the dog heads hated him.
  21. Im sure I saw somewhere from a Fulham supporter saying it will probably take him upto 8 games to get upto speed with us
