The only Brummie in me is my maternal grandfather, who was born in Sparkhill. His whole family were season ticket holders at St Andrews, and he took me occasionally as a kid. My grandmother was from Earlswood, and they lived on Stoney Lane in Sparkhill (Moeen Ali's house) all my childhood. I used to love going there and get excited about going on the bus into town. I know very little about this side of the family. My dad's father was from Glascote in Tamworth, he was one of 17 kids, of which 11 survived past the age of 5. My grandmother was from Shuttington, but they moved to Leamington, where my dad was born. She used to work for Randolph Turpin in his cafe. It seems this side of the family were farm labourers since the 1700's. So I escaped the dark side, and became a Villa fan from the shires. Some things are just inevitable.

The house was built just after the war, so timber was scarce. Everything is brick, mortar (which is harder than the bricks) or concrete.

This could go in the boring thread, but I live on a Crescent, that it is actually a cul-de-sac. It was supposed to be an entrance to a large council estate back in the 40's, but it turned out there was no planning permission, so they built the hammer head but kept the name. When traffic builds up on the main road we get no end of cars trying to cut through. They look smug driving down the road, and sheepish driving back up. Being a council house from the 40's, I don't think a nuke would do much damage, I've spent a fortune on drill bits.

It's absolute garbage. At my fittest I was classed as obese, I weighed 14 1/2 stone but looked 12 stone. I just have heavy bones and have a skull like Homer Simpson. I sink like a stone in water and was always a slow runner.

I don't think we did either, but what we did have were managers (Fergie, Wenger etc) bitching like little brats because every 50 / 50 decision didn't go their way. So they brought in a system to fix that, but we still have managers bitching like little brats. Maybe it was not the rules at fault, maybe it's the managers and the authority's inability to tell them to grow up.
