  1. I don't think he has the kicking game of Ford, and kicking for territory and applying pressure is Borthwick's plan. It's exactly what he did at Leicester, but that only worked because he had some big second and back rows who were also dynamic.
  2. I don't disagree with the cap at all, but I just think it's the main reason that there's such huge differences in the quality of the leagues.
  3. I don't think I've ever seen a worse start by England. They're clueless. I hate the way Jones and now Borthwick want to go with a power game when we just don't have the type of forwards to do it and be effective. The gap in the levels between Ireland, France, compared to us is now largely down to the standard of the club competitions. The English teams are so much worse, largely because of the salary cap.
  4. Don't think t-rex arms did too well for the 2nd
  5. With Mings and Pau still injured, we don't have much cover at CB. Whilst I'd like to have moved him on permanently, he at least gives us cover for Cash and Konsa in the RB and RCB positions. Right now we have Konsa, Lenglet Diego, and Chambers as our fit CB's. We may also need him for squad rotation in the conference league when games are coming thick and fast. I'm trying to be positive. Regarding turning down moves to Championship clubs, we don't know which ones they were. He might be settled here with a family and isn't prepared to move them away for only a few months.
  6. He's always wanted to drive for Ferrari, a few years ago he described it as a "dream". It could also mean he's lost faith in Mercedes too.
  7. Should be ok for mania, he should have fully recovered a week or two beforehand.
  8. If it was a work then it'd be fantastic. Everyone is writing off Punk as too injury prone now. I do think it will leave Raw short for a while now though. Cody will go to Smackdown to chase Roman after the chamber, Seth and Punk injured too. Wouldn't be surprised if one of the top Smackdown stars came over. It does leave an interesting question on who'll face Seth at mania now. I hope it's Gunther, title v title, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was Drew, Jey, or Sammi too.
  9. Lots of rumours, some dirt sheets "confirming", that CM Punk tore his triceps at the Rumble. If it's true, then his return didn't last too long. Changes things for mania, lots of people thought that he was set to face Seth.
  10. 1. Was sitting next to Lee Hendrie and his family in McDonalds Solihull and my son, who was a toddler at the time, was sick right next to them. Went absolutely everywhere. 2. The best Villa atmosphere I've ever been part of was the 93-94 semi final against Tranmere. Went with my Dad and his mates, I was 12. I'm not old enough to have gone to the early 80's games when we were the muts nuts, but I've never been to a game since and the atmosphere was better.
  11. Is this one of those links where the media just want to disrupt us and sell our better players to help their "sky 7" bread and butter? If JJ wasn't and hadn't been getting 1st team football, there may be something in it. But we've seen that Unai believes in him, plays him, and usually gets a performance out of him. I'm calling BS on this. He's a young English player with bags of potential, already at a good level, that is looked enviously by many clubs. Even if we sold him for £50m, and the freedom in FFP it'd give us, who are we going to get that is as young and talented, willing to work hard for Unai, and has the benefit of being homegrown?
  12. There were no notable surprises, but Bron looked like a future star, as did Tiffany Stratton and Jade Cargill. Think the people who may come back for a one off are getting too old for it now. In a way, whilst it's disappointing not to get that pop of a returning legend, it's good that some of the mid carders are getting a spot. I thought the women's was a much better match than the men's too. Their roster is really good, with some top prospects coming through. It was all very predictable though, but this is the problem when the writers don't bother with 95% of the roster.
  13. I listened to that, I was really disappointed in Jim when he made comments on the accuser. Sounded a bit too close to victim shaming for me. I love him usually, I'm a paid up member of the cult of cornette. I thought it was interesting though that he said Vince was like this when he was in creative with him, and that he must have gotten worse as he got older.
  14. I've lived in Tamworth nearly all my life, and this potato man is the closest thing to a celeb the town has ever produced. I'm really pleased for 'spud man' that he's doing so well. But for the life of me I don't know why you'd queue more than a few minutes for a spud. And what really annoys me is that over a million people subscribe to his channel. On making spuds. In Tamworth. Wouldn't be surprised if a few of them are up for next year's Darwin awards.
  15. I think the allegations are going to stick this time. Sponsors walked away in light of the allegations, and whilst Vinny issued a very quick rebuttal, he also stood down as a director of TKO and WWE. It's also known that the former UFC champion cited in the allegations will no longer be at the Rumble tonight. His spot has gone to someone from NXT. Personally, I think the timing of Steph leaving in 2022 when this first came out, returning when he left, then quitting again when he forced his way back in show she's either supporting her mum or disassociating from the genetic jackhammer. Maybe both. If any of this is true I hope he goes to prison if it becomes a criminal complaint. I expect a few more of these to come out in the next few months too, he's alleged to have paid $20mil in hush money for NDA's.
  16. I believe that absolute equality starts with everyone having the same opportunities (which we definitely don't have), which pushes me towards the left, but I also believe it's a person's responsibility to make the best of the opportunity. Which pushes me to the right. I'm so confused, so I played safe and said centre.
  17. The media jizzfest over this club is going to be even more unbearable until he's gone. Guess I'll be avoiding Sky until the summer. "Klopp's Liverpool can win the league", "Klopp's the only manager to challenge Pep" "Klopp was made for Liverpool", "How will Liverpool cope without him?"... It's football. It'll go on without him and, believe it or not, football was popular before him. It's going to be sickening.
  18. It's not just £1m, there'll be a sell on fee at least, and I wouldn't be surprised if there were other fees for for appearances, goals, achievements etc. Nearly every deal done comes with these add-ons and also payments in installments.
  19. Bit of misleading headline that electricians are walking out of site, but really all they're saying is that they're not doing overtime and clocking off after doing 8 hours work. https://www.itv.com/news/granada/2024-01-25/electricians-working-on-new-everton-stadium-walk-out-over-pay Still, with the financial woes at the club, and the cost of the new ground, relegation for Everton this season or next would be ruinous. Pay disputes with the people building their new stadium will not be helping. The results of the appeal for the first points deduction, and the results of the second charge are going to be crucial for them.
  20. They're "proper" not "proppa". Wrong sort. Only eat them in the shires, mate. You've got nothing to worry about.
  21. Really interesting video from Tifo. Now the tax break is over, it'll be interesting to see how that affects the Italian clubs in Europe over the next few seasons. Not a fan of the traditional big clubs, but seeing Atalanta and Napoli come to the fore over recent years has been refreshing. I hope that we don't see things default back to the Milan clubs and Juve.
  22. I think Kay Burley was rightly defending the BBC. The government minister had clearly come on unprepared with no evidence to support the claims the report makes that there is an issue with impartiality at the BBC, looking to confirm a narrative, and simply fell to pieces under when scrutinized. It's a great interview, as it should undermine any report into BBC impartiality that follows.
  23. Could really go in the Tory thread. Culture secretary on sky news this morning, making a case the BBC is biased against them. When asked where's the evidence, the response was that they're perceived to be biased, that the report they're making doesn't contain any single incident. Please don't let the Tories kill the BBC.
  24. Does anybody find incoming transfer bids random? Into my 4th season, and every year I'll get loads of offers for one player that is well below market value. This season it's Kamara. His value is around £80-90mil, but Real Madrid and Liverpool keep making offers of £38 mil. Happened the season before with Dougie too. I've checked the transfer status page and the value is not specified, like most players. 4 years on his contract too. However most players that are first team I'll sell for more than they're worth. Arsenal took McGinn for £64 mil, and I signed Tierney in the 2nd season, end of the season Al-Hilal took him for £90mil. Just seems too random.
  25. The mood and location were very good. The start of the 3 months of darkness is very much a metaphor for what the case will undoubtedly bring. It's interesting that we've very different opinions of the leads, and I see where you're coming from. With the character similarities though I do think it's set up on purpose for the younger lead to eventually take over from the older. I really don't agree on the music though. Billie Eilish theme? No thanks. The background music is just a little too much, too "jumpy", for my liking. Just my opinion though. I will watch the next few episodes though, as I so much want to like this.
