That one used to be painful, but the fact that Blues fans still celebrate "Enckleman Day" even now is just amusing. They peaked that day and it's hilarious.

Players that you think are Good/Excellent

I've not seen much, but he's looked tidy when I've watched him. -
The game where Manè scored the fastest ever PL hat-trick has to be up there. To be on the wrong side of a record like that is painful, especially because to this day it gets talked about and the clips get shown every once in a while. It's only now that we're looking like a good, well run club again that I can actually bear to watch them and appreciate the achievement. I still watch through my fingers, though.

Not this year, of course. After this year he's welcome to do what he likes.

Yeah ideally. Dougie hasn't been starting for Brazil though. Don't think he's even come on for the last couple games. For that reason, I'm backing Argentina. At least our lad starts for them, plus I'd love to see Messi win an international trophy.

I actually think that'd be pretty impressive. Most other teams rely on their game changers to carry them through the tournament. -
I heard he was doing strength conditioning.

If that's the case, then credit to our scouting setup for noticing his potential and pouncing on the chance to sign him so fast. It's things like that that give me real faith that we're in good hands.

We could be seeing an Argentina v Brazil final at this rate. Imagine that. A major tournament final between two of the biggest international teams in football, and there's a Villa player in both squads. Wouldn't that be something?

A jack of all trades, master of none, better that than a master of one. Look at Nakamba. As a destroyer he's brilliant, breaks up play as well as anyone I can think of. Once he has the ball though, he looks lost. Then there's Doug, who always looks better in possession than out of it. Same with McGinn. Both have their moments defensively, but they excel going forward. Plugging a player in the middle who is equally capable of both is no bad thing. The question will be whether he is good at them, or merely competent.

I like Tammy a lot for nostalgia reasons. However when we signed Ollie I was convinced we were signing the better player, and his performances for us have vindicated that. As much as I'd be happy to see Tammy in a Villa shirt again, it might be best if he never comes back simply because right now he's considered a cult hero to many of us. He was integral to the promotion season and will be remembered fondly for it. There's a lot of ways that legacy could be tarnished if he comes back.

It's mad to think that he could go all the way and win it without conceding a single goal, and there would still be people who would say "oh great, now they'll extend his contract and we'll have to suffer more of this crap". His methods might not be pretty, but they're working.

They look a hell of a team though. Losing Spinazzola will be massive, but even then they're a coherent unit with a clear gameplan. Germany proved before how that's more important than having superior individuals.

I think it's quite a statement that England managed such an emphatic win with a player of his quality not even needed at any point. It shows there's real depth in this squad. -
I've always been a huge fan of Messi, so I have a soft spot for Argentina. Even when he retires, with Emi M a regular now and Emi B likely to become one soon (and Alvarez, if we sign him), that interest will continue for a while. They're great fun when they click.

That was a few days ago. -
Birmingham City have actually been pretty good for the women's game overall. It's just about the only thing they've ever managed to get right. They're suffering a bad decline now, but overall anyone who has been involved in their setup over the last few years is good value for money. For instance, Carla Ward. She's considered a top class manager.
-
Sounds like she's been signed as a leader figure. Could wind up as captain. Welcome to Villa.
-
Surprisingly, they were talking him up after the game yesterday. Some were slagging him off as you'd expect, but for the most part they admitted he was class. Begrudgingly, I'm sure.

I don't think there's any anti-jack conspiracy. For me, it seems like we're all so used to seeing every player on the pitch's first priority being to find Jack every time they get in the ball, it's weird as hell to see him play in a team that doesn't do that. I also don't see what the media would have to gain by actively silencing discussion about a player who could be the national team's biggest star in decades. -
In all fairness, what fans think is irrelevant. If the board see merit in doing this, then that's all that matters.
-
Perfectly reasonable for us to feel it's a fair price though. Just like it's perfectly reasonable for anyone else to assume £100m is enough for Grealish. Ultimately, what fans think is irrelevant.
-
I think this every time I watch any team play, including Villa. My belief in him is so absolute that when one goes on it was either a completely unsaveable world class thunderbastard, or he let it go in out of pity for the opposition.
-
Jesus Christ. When was this??

He'll fit right in.
