  1. You do hear this arrogance thing coming from supporters all of the midlands clubs. The way I see it is that they want us to be humble and forget about the status the club has held over the vast majority of its history. Forget about the past they say......you're a championship club now and we are Premier. You are arrogant if you expect to get back quickly...….but we did (relatively) Now we are arrogant because we think we can stay up!! You don't understand how difficult the Premier league is they say...…..to fans of the club who have mounted a number of credible title challenges since the Premier league started (and in fact I think until very recently Villas average PL finish was 6th!) We are not arrogant we have had a lot of (RELATIVE!) success over the years and that leads us to expect a certain standard. I guess if Wolves performed as well as Villa have done in the next 20/30 Years they will have an arrogant fanbase too.
  2. Preston are a good club, they will Be good for him and he will be good for them Can see this being a permanent move in the future. Andre will be a better player with less pressure on him to deliver.
  3. Risky? What is your suggestion otherwise then.. If and it’s a big if.....this all goes tits up then so be it. We had to leave behind the deadwood from previous seasons and look to the future. Try to stop listening to outsiders that don’t know the full facts and take confidence that if only half these signings work out we will still be a very good team with super rich owners and a great management team. UTV
  4. Heaton is a top keeper and more than worthy of being our No1. Jed Steer is a number 2 who is a more than able understudy (hence the great job he did for us last year),I am very glad we have him available to us but give me Heaton every time.
  5. They seem to be being discussed as on a par with Leicester in the media and I wouldn't disagree. One of two or three (Everton?) who could crack into the top six this year. Wouldn't it be funny if we turned them over heavily at VP just like last time though
  6. I can say that after watching both of them a number of times last year that Benrahma and Maupay at the right price would be great business for a club in our position. I am also sure that there may well be similar or better value out there. But I don’t know who they are or who they play for.
  7. Have to think Leeds are going to do well again this season. They would have been a Premier league side this year if it hadn't been for the debilitating atmosphere of desperation that builds up around them. If they learn from it no one in this division can stop them. After that i could see Swansea being good and also Stoke,Brentford,Fulham and Baggies being in and around the top six
  8. Maybe next year after a good year it could be good business. Now it just seems that the timing isn’t right it will derail all the good feeling around the club. He symbolises the excitement we all feel about the future,in fact when I think of the reborn Aston Villa I think of John McGinn celebrating at Wembley after the second goal,it was like one of us had put it in ourselves!
  9. Unless the players in front of them keep the pressure off ...
  10. Impressive. But.......that’s par for the course now.All the other Premier sides went to Championship clubs and won comfortably too. Except for Bruce’s Newcastle
  11. If.....and..only.......you have to love pre-season. No really knows how it’s going to go so desperately try to cover the bases
  12. I can’t see how this guy will make it in PL. He doesn’t lack in ability or effort but he does lack the consistency of play needed to succeed up there. one good cross/shot every four games won’t be enough.
  13. I understand the pain felt by everyone. In my opinion all kits at every club are poor value and have been for a very longtime. You can keep buying it every year and club will keep taking your money. Until they produce better value for money then I won’t buy. Really not surprised by this at all.
  14. So we had 2300 fans who attended 15+ away games last year? Wow...
  15. Halesowen had this guy on loan in 2017.He was head a shoulders above that level not surprised he is at Shrewsbury now. I have a question...I could see he was a good player but I would have never have said he could be a possibility for League club ,simply because of the players he was playing against. How can you make a call on him unless you see how he performs against better players? What things are you looking for that convinces you he can do it at a higher level?
  16. This is a fact. Another club that is similar are Wolves. The sooner they realise that success is not defined by finishing above the Villa is the moment they will become free to actually have real success.
  17. The Hegazi I have seen play for West Brom is far from shit. Baggies fans love him. I think it would be a good signing if the link is true and even more so if we are looking to bring in another Egyptian player.
  18. Yes it would be just like Villa to sign a player for £20M and then he gets a re occurrence of an old injury shortly after... Unless of course this is the new Villa and while we had him on loan we found out all their is to know about those injuries and are confident he will be fine?
  19. I like this version of Wolves. They are a good team that play good football. Dont be too hard on the fans either, they have NO IDEA what sustained success is.For them 2 seasons above the Villa is massive. Us being back has taken some of the limelight away. Now they have to actually beat us instead of just playing the Premier League card and calling us historians.
  20. If we get Phillips we won’t regret it.
  21. Sometimes you just attend a match and see a player on the opposition that stands out. Its obvious to even the layman sometimes that this player will step up.Jack Grealish for example...other players are just “good for the Championship” Aiden Flint could be a good example here. The hard part for clubs/scouts is figuring which is which but I would suggest that they have some set of criteria to measure agains to help them make the decision. It would be interesting to know if anyone has an insight on what attributes a club look for in players that they consider good enough to step up?
  22. I would say a big club appeals to a lot of people. So for me if your fan base exceeds the city boundaries then you can consider yourselves a reasonable sized club. Of it’s relative because Utd have millions of fans all round the world whereas Newcastle or us for that matter have considerably less fans country/worldwide. This is why the Blues cannot consider themselves in any discussions like this....I mean you hardly meet a Blues fan that lives outside Birmingham do you...in fact they are proud about it
  23. The problem with Newcastle is the Myth that it is a big club. Yes they have 50000 passionate fans which is incredible in a town of approx 300000 but elsewhere??? Geordies are mad. They haven’t won a trophy for 50 years yet each season they get upset because they aren’t challenging! I think Ashley has looked after the club quite well tbf.
  24. We have lots of fans. 1.Concourses in most areas of the ground are to small for them. 2.lots of fans want lots of food/drink.Most areas of the ground do not have enough food counters. 3.Bring the price of this mediocre food/drink down so it is more in line with the quality(I always feel ripped off no mater what I buy!!)
