  1. Spurs are well known throughout football for being Spursy. Whereas a lot of football fans don't really remember our top 4 challenges or drop offs because they were so long ago. However Villa have been Typically Villa quite a few times over the years in my memory. Most of us have seen Villa fall away when our hopes have been raised before in at least one season. So take your mind of this year it hasn't happened yet...... and cast your mind back to previous disappointments. When did you realise we didn't have enough during a potentially good season? I'll start 1998/99 - we lost 4-1 at home to Coventry i knew it was all over then, i can still picture Boateng smashing the ball into the roof of the net and there fans going mental. That was the 4th defeat in 5 games and we went on to finish 6th after being top at Christmas.
  2. If you give the ref a reason to send you off then he probably will. McGinn handed him that reason It was a red It was stupid I only hope we can get results whilst he is out.
  3. Agree. There is nothing that’s good value once you get inside the ground. I mean a can afford extortionate prices for crap food/drink but I choose not too pay. Im sure there are many more who simply don’t see value so don’t buy.
  4. He left to win stuff and earn more money. He’s done that. It worked out for us and him. Always thought he might come back but the way it’s going for him right now he might not be fit/good enough. Sad.
  5. I think (I may be wrong of course) that we cope quite well without Kamara. I don’t doubt he is a high quality player but we seem to get on ok when he’s out too. Really wouldn’t like to lose Ramsey he is a massive talent.
  6. For what it’s worth here’s my top three. I just think it’s great that we can watch these things now.Much better than having to listen to TalkSPORT or Sky. 1.Claret and Blue - all of them are likeable and try to balance out their opinions. 2. 1874. - Dans good Greg is a bit disinterested in my opinion but knowledgable. 3. FTLOPMc - they know their stuff on here even better during the transfer window.
  7. I think Tim could be our answer. A good young player that understands what is expected from him and is surrounded by confident experienced professionals that can help and guide him. Its already happening at Liverpool who play Bradley and Quansah. I hope he will thrive and take his opportunity
  8. Not the best news. However we have to deal with it the best way we can. We aren’t the only side with crucial players out injured. We are just the only side that the media will ignore when it comes to injuries. There will no injury hit Villa battling on reports you can bet on that.
  9. Ok so the result wasn’t good. However the performance was! I’m with Unai ,this thing isn’t going downhill at all. In comparison with the last month it’s looking up again. UTV
  10. We have to make a particular way of traveling to and from VIlla Park so obviously easier that much less people choose other ways. Extra carriages at trains stopping at both stations seems a no brainer but I’m sure there are reasons why it’s not done. Buses to town that can use a match day route which maybe is unavailable to other traffic (like bus lane) for an hour after the match. A specific walking route to down that is clearly signposted and maybe stewarded (overkill maybe)
  11. I have never understood why this can’t be done.
  12. Since 1910 Wigan - one FA Cup = 1 Portsmouth - two leagues two Fa Cups = 4 Leicester - Three league cups one FA cup and one Premier League = 5 Aston Villa - one league title one FA Cup five league cups = 7 …and of course 1982 if we can’t get it right how can we expect the media to bother?
  13. Any big city club with a large fans base thinks they "should" be winning things. Examples below Newcastle Everton Villa Spurs Even Wolves ffs and they've only recovered over the last 5 years or so. The tin pot clubs know who they are and are very grateful when they are in a run of form and accept more readily when it goes away Brentford Brighton Luton Forest (borderline with these guys as i think they might have a few fans who still live in the 1970/80s similar to us) Palace
  14. They really don't like this...... "Get yower oowon academy yow vile b@stards"
  15. There was also an overtime ban for trains staff which caused later trains especially to be cancelled. Now whilst i would of definitely stayed and got an Uber home if we were pressing at the end, by 85mins it was clear that there was only one winner. Villa Park is notoriously bad to travel to/from - combine bad result/motorway problems/train problems/and stupidly late kick off times and you get empty seats at the end. In fact you may well of seen similar scenes if we were winning comfortably at 85mins.
  16. This is the truth. With the exception of a couple of duds (and even they had their moments) we’ve been signing good players for years. unlike previous regimes I feel completely relaxed about our signings.
  17. No I don’t think we are. The extra add ons will only be paid after his performances have more than paid us back. Some of the £7.5m is payback to Citeh for his original cheap fee in the summer when he moved to Boro. Finally Boro have to make some profit over and above the £1.5m they paid for him. if you look at it like that it’s a great deal….one we have to make. Small risk big upside
  18. Any decision this version of Aston Villa make will not be forced.
  19. Nowhere, but there is some speculation in the media that we may have too. Hence the conversation
  20. The profit and sustainability rules mean all clubs are sell to buy. Some just have higher bar and are able to operate at a higher level. Even without the rules you would suggest that most clubs would still be sell to buy as it’s always been. We sold Jack and others to get where we are now. Just like the sale of Andy Gray funded the purchase of Peter Withe.. Sell to buy is a common sense way to run a football club but in this crazy age of state ownership it has to be enforced.
  21. If I was in charge of the club I wouldn’t have sacked Dean Smith……ever. The consequences of that are obvious. P.S I was a big fan of Lambert and he wouldn’t have gone either.
  22. Whilst I don’t disagree with the general message here i personally don’t like use of the poor. Aston Villa are not a “poor” team and neither have the performances been since the 15th minute of the Arsenal game either. Whilst we haven’t performed to our potential we have clearly been missing important cogs in our team. Poor! Please say it again and then compare some of the performances that have been genuinely poor in our recent history.
  23. Cheating is a bit strong I agree….however the effort he’s goes to to cover it up is dare I say unprecedented. I don’t think I’ve seen a player do that before. Its sort of against the grain don’t you think?
