  1. I’m sure it was gusto who got sent off against us earlier in the season for a very similar challenge on Digne
  2. Usually when a player comes back from a long layoff there’s a period of getting back up to speed and rustiness. Not for De Bruyne, looked like he’d never been away and changed the game.
  3. You can’t really blame them though, we can’t make up our own bloody minds on it seemingly
  4. Warrington Town’s goalkeeper scored a 97th minute equaliser in their National League North match, second time he’s done it this season already!
  5. Does Eddie Howe expect the rest of us to feel sorry for them or something. ’oh poor us, we want to improve and buy every player under the sun but we have to abide by the same rules as everyone else’ Yeah no shit moron, lots of clubs would be out there buying players if it weren’t for FFP, Newcastle aren’t the only team with means. The longer he’s in that job the less I like him.
  6. They’ve had significant injuries and other selection issues for most of the season so far
  7. Perfectly reasonable though given that he’s feigning injury to waste time, clearly
  8. Adidas, finally. As someone who wears a lot of it already just take my money now. Would be even better if it turned out to be Adidas Originals specifically but guess that’s a step too far in the dream.
  9. The overuse of the word ‘moment’ in football now. I’m sure it started with the influx of foreign managers and the broken English they’d speak in during the early stages of their time in the UK (understandably of course) but it’s now used by all and sundry. ’So and so are in a good moment currently’ , ‘we had lots of good moments in the game’ - maybe it’s just me this bothers.
  10. From Wayne Rooney to Tony Mowbray, smacks of a total lack of plan in my view. I’m sure he’ll keep them up because he is at least a semi competent Manager with a lot of experience but I don’t think he’s built a reputation on playing ‘fearless football’ and his teams either seem to blow hot or cold in the main. If there’s any merit in the players actively wanting Rooney out then you’d imagine they probably wanted Eustace back in (not that the ‘brave’ new owners would even contemplate publicly acknowledging that they messed up in sacking him in the first place of course) and will Tony Mowbray satisfy them? Time will tell of course.
  11. Why has it taken a TV show to get the government interested in the Post Office / Horizon scandal?! Its been in the news for a good while but now it’s been turned into a mini drama for TV the government decides to begin acting, absolute shitshow as per.
  12. It wasn’t that long ago Gervais was almost universally lauded as being a comic genius. He hasn’t changed, society has, which ironically enough was kinda the point he was making repeatedly during Supernature.
  13. Goal machine this season but yeah, no
  14. Wasn’t it a bit weird over the summer too? He basically skipped pre season entirely and was seemingly on holiday in Barcelona, unless I’m completely misremembering.
  15. As someone with a keen interest in Newport I can safely say that’s a no.
  16. Yeah his debut was horrific, Brentford away I think wasn’t it? It’s the most over the top reaction I’ve ever written on here following a player debut, I honestly thought he looked like a raffle winner that night but fair play to him, he got better and became a good squad member for a time, able to step in and cover when needed and there aren’t many with a winning goal at Mould Trafford to their name. Not sure where he goes from here but I hope he carves out a career at a decent level, Championship most likely unless he fancies a go abroad.
  17. Good for him, hopefully he can restart his career now though that’s likely to be away from Villa you’d suspect.
  18. Amazing story, the double bull he threw yesterday was just taking the piss, and the attempted 180 when he only had 182 left, got balls of steel for a 16 year old. £200,000 secured and a chance to increase it to £500k tonight, whether he looks 16 or 40 he’s going to be very popular in town on a Saturday night now. Mental to think he could be doing this for the next 30+ years, that’s a whole heap of money right there for doing something you love and which frankly, you don’t need to adjust your lifestyle too much to accommodate.
  19. Maybe the owners are privy to far more information than the rest of us with regards the Super League that hasn’t gone away, maybe it’s now or never in terms of being a top European club to gain access to the new top table, maybe that’s had an impact on the perceived quickening of timetables and also the halting of the redevelopment. I dunno, just spitballing but the recent legal announcement on the super league seems to have been followed up with an unexpected and reserved reaction from those involved in driving it all, given how brash they were first time around maybe it’s actually going to happen in the not too distant.
  20. One of those two teams has been found to have broken the financial rules over a hundred times. The other has not. I’d suggest it’s fair game to not be too critical of any team for not winning many trophies during the ‘City era’.
  21. How much has Rooney cost them I’d be interested to know, 3.5 year deal they’ll have had to pay up, plus the back room and coaching staff he will have brought in (assuming he did bring some in), you’d think given their financial woes it’s going to hamstring them somewhat further.
  22. Ah that’s a shame, it was fun whilst it lasted though! Slightly worried they’ll entice someone decent like Cooper but hoping they look for another ‘big name’ and give it to Sol Campbell or something.
  23. Just need QPR or Sheff Weds to put some results together now, fingers crossed Wednesday can make the man advantage count in the second half
  24. The handball probably aided Foster getting on the end of it, which he did and probably should have scored. I don’t know how you could send Carlos off for denial of a goalscoring opportunity when the play became exactly that, a goalscoring opportunity, which Foster missed. Should have been brought back by the on field official for a free kick and a yellow card, no reason for VAR to intervene any further. Our penalty was soft and whilst I agree with Lineker that it’s a dive - it’s what I consider a dive - the fact that the likes of Kane have been doing this for years now and not being called out for it by the same people is somewhat galling to hear. Its the swings and roundabouts theory proved true in my opinion, the soft penalty against Burnley was our cosmic reward for being shafted multiple times against Sheff United.
