To be honest I couldn’t care less who wears the armband but we well and truly lack real leaders , I think the only real consistent leader we have is Ashley Young, yes Mings is good at organising , Martinez is good when things are going well and Mcginn leads by example through his endeavour. But none bar Young are consistent when things are going wrong they haven’t got that ability to drag teammates out of the mud . All successful teams have that core group of players that collectively drive the team forward when things are going wrong. I think it’s something that needs addressing in the summer.

I think Emery can tactically outclass Arteta but it has to come from the players we lacked aggression vs city and folded in typical villa fashion. John Mcginn has to start he’s a better leader than people give him credit for and I think the added physical presence of Jhon Duran up front would help. And hope Mings is back don’t think I could take another Calamity Chambers performance.

I don’t know Jesus has only done it twice i 6 season , Mitrovic twice in 5 seasons Calvert Lewint twice in 7 , Lacazette averaged 12 goals per season , Callum Wilson twice in 8 seasons, Martial 3 times in 8 seasons. All the above have probably been mentioned as superior to Ollie but none have been able to deliver on a consistent basis, yes you could throw the but they’ve had injuries and any other excuse but they’ve all played almost double the amount of games.

Not a chance that’s what’s wrong with modern footballers, I bet Ashely Young would have given him a mouthful. The Manchester derby few weeks ago they were hugging and laughing post match.

What I like about him is that he seems adaptable enough to also play out wide, just by looking at size and stature you would only assume that he’s a traditional number 9 but he looks like he has the pace , skill and workrate to do a job out wide in this Emery system rather than pushing Ollie wide when both are on the pitch.

A friend of mine who’s s Everton season ticket holder said he hadn’t been the same player for a while, well before Rafa freezing him out. In hindsight Everton would have been better off with Rafa in charge still. He saw an opportunity to sell a player well above value something that Everton failed to do in previous years.

There will be plenty in for him and the money involved in English football probably means they will be able to command a large fee for him. Valencia look likely to be relegated from La Liga if we are looking for bargains maybe we should look there?
