  1. Newcastle are going to win a cup aren't they Or maybe even Wolves
  2. Yep. Whilst we always say Villa is a tight ship regarding rumours, every single one of our signings has been in the media a few days before...usually broken by a foreign source first. However, when that does happen it seems a bit more reliable than the English reporters. I wouldn't be surprised to see Guendouzi in the slightest. Same with Delofeu
  3. I think we either tend to get a reasonable price...or destroy a player as an asset completely so they leave for nothing
  4. "So you have a 38 year old player called Young playing for you? Oh, there he is..." "No, no Alex, that's Kaydan. He's 22 years younger but looks mid-40s"
  5. They definitely went on to better. Sold cheaply though? Thought they were both fair. Anyhow. Guendouzi doesn't excite me...but I'm all for signing ls that fit the 'plan' and end up making the sum greater than the parts.
  6. Have we? Edit: Albrighton and...possibly Gueye/Veretout?
  7. I think we had the opportunities to be inventive and create, but just made the wrong choices. We were patient and move Stevenage fairly well, but **** it up when the opening presented itself. Bailey had numerous opportunities to find a player, but either pirouetted or kicked it out of play. Ramsey could have made a cut back but passed it to the keeper. Coutinho kept using Augustinsson as a decoy and that should've been alternated more. It was so lethargic today that the poor play on top made it very slow to watch.
  8. I can't work out if it's his playing style or whether he is just trying too damn hard to live up to expectations and shirk the 'flop' tag. A similar situation with Bailey. There are some decent footballers in there somewhere - they've existed before- but something isn't right with them at Villa.
  9. I thought Sanson was ok tonight, but when Ramsey came on and you compare the difference in pace and running power - both over short distance and long - it really highlights the type of player that makes this system work a lot better. Who is in a similar mould to that - Connor Gallagher? Our own Timmy I?
  10. I'm not one to turn everything back on Gerrard, but I think he undid the good work Deano had put into that aspect in record time. When players aren't included in squads, aren't rotated, and see no way in, the moral and camaraderie just dies completely.
  11. I've just seen the replay. He isn't as hassled as I thought at the game when he receives the ball. It really is a proper shit piece of play.
  12. I think there's a bit of that. If he could move it quickly and have some quick 1-2s I think he'd look better. He was definitely the busiest looking player today, alongside Sanson, but his shooting was absolutely shite. I also think he may have had a shout for a couple of pens. I haven't seen anything on TV, but it looked like he was barged over once in each half.
  13. He was actually good when he first came though. Like, should have been starting. Every single game he plays now, he passes a ball to the opposition striker when they press. He's signed his exit card imo.
  14. I've never seen a keeper get down so slowly. It is genuinely in slow motion. That shot for the second should never have gone in. It's unobstructed, and not even in the corner of the goal at the near post. The player shouldn't have been able to receive it short, but it definitely shouldn't have got past Olsen.
  15. Thought he was one of the more competent players for 84 minutes. He's **** up for their first, but I'm not sure why Olsen gave it him on the edge of the box with a man up his ass. If I remember correctly, it was also directly after two/three other close passes between CBs that were getting pressed high. I think that one could've gone long imo.
  16. Ings movement was ok tonight. They sat so deep on the edge of the box that he couldnt make long runs in behind, but he managed to find gaps in between the CBs and FBs. The problem was that Dougie was rimming Coutinho all game so wouldn't pass to anyone else, and then Coutinho more often than not punted it into the stands from 25 yds. Same with Bailey. He had chances to slot Ings in, but chose to chop and turn repeatedly, often stumbling on the ball. We made Ings look a mug today, rather than it being his fault.
  17. Think he would've been one of the subs if Cash and Aug. didn't come off early or we had a couple of goals. I imagine he would've swapped on for Bailey around 70 mins
  18. One of the few players in our team that could actually control the ball today. Some stray passes in there, but looked more assured than most. I probably can't say if he would offer more than McGinn, but he certainly offered no less. A perfectly viable rotation option....which I think is what people's problem is...he hasn't had the chance to be rotated

    Matty Cash

Whether it's against MBappe & Messi, or a League Two winger, Cash always plays in the same way...as it's an edge of the game battle, to the point where he is scrambling most of the time. Very little composure when moving forward.
  20. His biggest strength is that his striking of the ball with his one decent foot is very crisp. At the minute he is whiffing the ball 75% of the time. I've not seen it this bad before...it's almost like the golfing yips of some sort.
  21. Wednesday have been really good tonight. Hopefully they hang on.
  22. Just on handball consistency... We surely must have seen every type of incident that generates contact between ball and hand. Surely whatever that list is can then be put into two categories of 'given' and 'not-given'. I refuse to believe there's a way of getting a handball that hasn't been seen yet...so it should be easy to categorise them, right.
  23. I think the usual teams + Newcastle will finish at the top of the table. We need to hunt down the spot that comes next . I don't see a reason why we can't chase down Brighton, Brentford and Fulham....but we have to begin to consistently pick up points. None of this 'two points from. Bournemouth, Palace, Leeds, and Forest' shit.
  24. All seem sensible to me and attempt to fix the shitty gamesmanship that spoil it for fans. I think a tactical foul in midfield should have an 'orange card' sin bin consequence, however. FIFA don't care about the same things though so none of these will be addressed.
