  1. I like Bailey and want him to do well. I think El Ghazi would've had a similar impact on our season if he'd have had the same playing chances.
  2. We had them most recently in the cup a couple of years ago. We played them two years on the bounce when they made it to the championship. Pretty sure we actually went 1-0 down at VP when Jamie Ward scored a scissor kick before coming back. Ridiculous, really.
  3. I actually think the difference was TAA's absolutely magic ball that created a goal from nothing in the first 5 minutes. Then VVD scored a deflected shot that was going wide, and we got caught on the break for the third. There wasn't really a lot in the match I'm pretty sure if we hadn't been undone by that wonderful pass we would have won the game. It was a mentality switcher.
  4. I've been to see Burton a couple of times and the regular fans I've spoken to say he's been really poor. In the match I saw, a 3-3 against Charlton, he was arguably at fault for getting lobbed twice by being too indecisive. Let's say he's 'learning' but making some mistakes along the way. A team fighting relagation like Burton don't want to risk him.

    Matty Cash

Did he play in a midfield role in front of Young?
  6. There's definitely something strange happening. I think he had injuries under Smith and then the less said about Gerrard the better. Sanson missing out Christmas pre-season just sums up his time at Villa really. I think we'd benefit from someone a bit more powerful in the way that Ramsey or Dendonker is, but Sanson may not be the worst option in one of these wider CM positions.
  7. God knows what she offered in the role of 'Sporting Director' when we had her in for the women's team.
  8. Aluko is an absolute clown. You can see her forgetting what the end of her sentence will be before even making it half way through...then it's normally trash anyway.
  9. They were very similar to chances that Bailey and Watkins were getting ripped for after the Liverpool game. In reality, they're never as easy as we think they are but you would expect more from all three players.
  10. The more we discuss what type of player we need, the more Sanson fits the description. He's the type of central midfielder that is more athletic to paly a wider role and better with the ball than someone like McGinn. If he can fill a spot and give us extra cash to boost another area that would be nice. I can only assume Morgan will move somewhere in January. Is he injured at the minute? (Can. Worms. Apologies)
  11. His main downfall is missing chances, but against Liverpool I thought he put two out of four of them away. There aren't many strikers who would've done better than that. He needs to be a bit more 'Ings-y' in his reading of the game. There was a knock down from McGinn where he should be gambling for a toe-poke home. In the past, his general footballing ability looked a bit ropey...but I think he's come on a lot since Emery came in and is holding the ball up more effectively and making better passes.
  12. As in the Liverpool players? I recognised it during the game. It's one of their strongest points and we did well against it for the most part . There were a couple of passes from Dougie that looked brilliant and ended up being intercepted because the Liverpool defence read the game a lot better than our attackers. Against other teams, we'd have a lot more success. There were too many incidents of our players miscontrolling the ball though. Killed our attacking play too often.
  13. He's so good. What's majorly frustrating watching that video is how often the person who he finds with the ball manages to **** it all up within seconds.
  14. The high line is something I'll take a while to get used to. We didn't actually get punished for it from general play (although there were many nervy moments of Liverpool getting in behind) However, we did get exposed much more on the high line from set pieces. The first goal is an example, and the disallowed goal where four Liverpool players all broke free in acres of space and luckily for us it was the only one who was offside who headed it in. I think it's probably going to led to a lot of goals until we employ a couple of sprinters in defence who can make the stroker for pace.
  15. Bailey is an odd one though. The only thing I thought would happen each time he got it tonight was an air kick
  16. Played in a way that gets you benched for the next game. Not awful, but choosing options that gave the ball away and spotted our attacks/triggered Liverpool's counters. If anyone will create a chance it is him, but he needs to up his success percentage a tad so he is more effective.
  17. Probably not at fault for the goals, but he just does not inspire any confidence. He also dives in slow motion. The guy goes down in installments. There was a shot from distance that he needed up parrying and keeping in that really wasn't much of a worry at all but put us in danger afterwards.
  18. I can get on board with the idea that 50-70m represents the standard of quality, but I don't think we need to spend that (at least not in a transfer fee...maybe the wages) I look at Kamara, who was free, and think a couple of players at his levels does the job for us.
  19. Absolute class in absolutely everything he does. Build the teams quality around him and we keep him and push up the table. Otherwise, he'll be gone by the end of next season.
  20. Clearly has class, but played at a slower pace than needed today as if it was a training match. (Probably because the only football he's had recently have been training matches) Give him a match or two and he'll be moving the ball more quickly and looking good with kamara again.

    Ezri Konsa

He had a superb season when no crowds were let in...but even then he would be done by a ball over the top of his shoulder for a striker in behind. Still gets done by that too easily now. Similarly to Watkins, he's probably ok for where we are, but will need to improve for us to go any further. That or be replaced.
  22. First half was very poor finishing. But he did much better at his hold up play and bringing other people in. Second half he finished the two big chances he had. A much better performance. Overall, probably a good fit for where we are...but will either need to improve or be improved if we want to go any further.
  23. The ref made such a quick decision too. It was seconds before he triggered Doug with an instant red. Very poor.
