  1. Let's not forget. That shitshow was actually given as a foul as well.
  2. Just doesn't look like he can move.
  3. I think the key word is 'instruction'. I wonder what the quality of that information was like from SG post Beale.
  4. But, without looking, I'd hazard a fairly safe guess that nearly all of them spent time in slightly different positions across the first 20 professional games of their careers whilst they were bedding into adult football...
  5. Ben Foster asked Neil Cutler "how good is Jacob Ramsey?" Cutler's response was carefully thought out and basically said he's going to be great but has struggled due to never knowing what position or role he was meant to be playing in because it changed so often. Thanks Stevie.

    Unai Emery

Eth Eth Eth Eth Eth, Eth Eth Eth Eth Eth...Bodymoor Heath.
  7. No, I thought he had at the time too but I think, bizarrely, it was actually for Dalot who had been gobbing off at something.
  8. Surely that will get picked up retrospectively? He had three swings at Bailey. I'm gobsmacked he got away with it in the match.
  9. What on earth is that fat knacker Shaw doing with his socks. I've got a severe irrational hatred of that. The way he wears them make them look like the last, unwashed pair out of a Sunday league kitbag with no stretch left. Gimp.
  10. Two things: I thought it was a penalty at the time. Probably still do even if the ball goes a long way. Is wish Ings had played him in down the line when he broke at the end. He was in! A great game from Ramsey in a formation that got the best out of his skillset. (You can copy that into about 7 player threads after today)
  11. Bailey 83% and Ramsey 72% I think anything above 75% in an attacking role is reasonable for a team like Villa. (For comparison Garancho, van Der Beek, Rashford, and Ronaldo didn't have anything less than 83%)
  12. Classic Buendia. Looked our best player and our worst at different points....but a lot more good work than bad. He harried well and used the ball well most of the time...but then gave it away cheaply under no pressure that even some of our U11s wouldn't have done. A score of 6.7 from Sofa Score seems about right.
  13. Overall, he's had a good game. A lot of our possession, and more importantly, our possession that carried intent, came through him. He gets caught sometimes and has one too many stray passes but if your looking for a player that does the same and doesn't make any errors then they are called Silva and used to play for Man City.

Far too purple. When will the club get claret right? Also, we need to forget about the star and leave it out. Yellow just bleeds around the edges anyway. Oh wait, wrong thread...
  15. Just not scary anymore. Their team sheet came out today and it was not intimidating. Some good players, but no-one one to make you worried.
  16. He's got a bit of size and just does the basics very, very well...unfortunately it's been a long time since we've had players that can do that. His control, passing and reading of the game is not flashy but he almost always chooses, and carries out, a sensible option (very importantly, a sensible option is not just the 'safe option')

Very progressive with his passing through the lines from CB. A big change from previous matches.
  18. I guess that would have been high up in their designs as well but would be to similar to West ham's colour arrangement.
  19. One thing for definite....the lion looks frickin awesome. Great work from the design team to get a fierce and modern lion that also plays into our heritage well. The gas lamp is just an arbitrary option, I think. Feels like the round one was always going to be the one we go for.
  20. He's had some long injury layoffs which will have got in the way.
  21. Granted. But Ollie is currently getting heat for his all-round game. Would it be worth reading three goals for someone who help the overall style of play more? I'd say so. When you watch Wilson (or other strikers who can use their strength well) they make defenders feel like they've had to work hard during the game. My feeling is that defenders get an easy time from Ollie because his hold up strength is poor and his touch gives them a chance to nip in. I like Ollie, but has been exposed with the way we've asked him to play.
  22. He suited Smith's style of getting on the end of crosses and running onto balls into the channels. As soon as he needs to be involved in the build up, or is needed to hold the ball up on his own, it shows his limitations too much. Having Davis up top would've worked better recently as he could hold it before giving it to an attacking mid. Having Wilson up top for the last couple of years would've seen us kick on a bit due to his power and finishing.
  23. Trying to lay the passion and emotion to one side for a while, what have Newcastle got that we haven't in terms of the tactics etc? Largely, is see the squads evenly matched when going player for player, maybe with the Newcastle players having more pace and/or power. That feels a bit lazy to put it down to that, though. So what is the difference that is amazing them look a decent outfit and us looking a lot worse off?
  24. Was it the same summer where we went for Wilson and Watkins? Imagine if Wilson had been in our team over the past year...

    Liverpool

When people were eyeing up Poch for our role, I also thought that he could be holding out for a job at Liverpool. That's seems a pretty good fit for him at a team in the champs league.
