  1. Came across this. Neville impresses me here - at least he's thinking, and taking on Scudamore. Yep - Neville seems to be talking sense. Scudamore is a "trickle down economics" guy. Fair play Gary.
  2. Interestingly @maqroll Edward Bernays who is quoted at the start of that doc was Sigmund Freud's nephew. Adam Curtis did a long documentary called "The Century of the Self" which focusses on Bernays. I happen to think it is Curtis's best documentary. Some of his later stuff is very rambly. I have posted it in here before but if you haven't seen it I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Here is part 1.
  3. I was a country bumpkin when I hung out in East Finchley - it all seemed glamorous! Went to a club at the Trocadero in town on NY Eve with that gang from Finchley in 96. Smoking pot at a hip hop club was very new to a lad from Wollaston. As for living in cities. You take the rough with the smooth. I think in your 20's you should live in London or New York or wherever. I'm happy I did it and over a decade in Manhattan was great. Once my nipper came along it was time to get out but I would have happily stayed if I didn't get my current job offer and we would have have made it work. The people that thrive there have family in the city - it's very tough without that support network once you have kids. London from 18 - 26, Miami 26 - 34 & NYC for over a decade. The only place I would never go back to is Miami. I am a huge supporter of global warming so we can sink Florida - it's a cultural, vacuous wasteland.
  4. My fave was always Highgate Village and it was just about affordable in the 90's. Not as bougie as Hampstead but really villagy. Had a mate who owned a flat in Muswell Hill another nice hood - he had to sell when his business went belly up though. He paid 64K for a 3 bed back in 1990 I can't imagine what you'd pay now. Long time friend who is now in the London Symphony grew up in East Finchley - a bit more gritty than Highgate but still v cool. His parents still live there and as he says, there's no way on earth he could ever afford to live there himself. Very sad!
  5. I didn't - I don't really watch or read anything anymore - I'd rather focus on my job and my family then get wound up by people who want to watch the world burn just to satisfy their egos. Sadly this Rittenhouse story broke through into my world. It's going to get messy again when he's cleared.
  6. No way - 6 months tops and thats being kind - I think she'll be gone before Feb 1st 2022
  7. Haven't they got any bloody lifts?
  8. Luckily over here, iPhones and the phone companies now have finally got together and it will actually say "potential spam" on the caller ID. So the f*^kers have now started texting. About 5-10 spam texts per day. Give me a shotgun someone please.
  9. Remind me what part of town are you in? I was NW1 & NW8 before my swan song year in Greenwich!
  10. I was fortunate enough to land a place in St Johns Wood/Swiss Cottage (just around the corner from Lords) in the 90's when I was a student. About 5 houses down from Liam Gallagher and Patsy Kensit (who's house had a permanent vigil of fans camped outside.) Saw Mel Smith in the local a lot before he essentially killed himself with too much coke and booze. Fascinating place to live as a young, rather naive lad. If I'd somehow managed to buy the place I was renting (I was offered the chance) it would be worth about 7-8 mill by now. But honestly London just exhausted me and I wanted to try my luck in the US.
  11. WHY THE FUVK WAS HE IN A TOWN THAT HE DOESN'T LIVE IN WANDERING AROUND AFTER A LEGAL CURFEW WITH AN AK-47 RIFLE STRAPPED TO HIM. What an upstanding little c *nt I mean citizen. Bannon loves these little foot soldiers. The cold race war has been running in this country since about 2015.
  12. I believe it always has been. 9-11 really padded the stats for the Islamists, but take that 1 day out of things then the right wingers are winning hands down in the body count numbers.
  13. Bloody hell, I thought I'd logged onto the comments section of Women's Own reading the past few pages.
  14. So is your money on Madge popping it before or after Christmas? I reckon it will be Christmas week and then everyone will have something to talk about during January.
  15. I took some screen shots of street view a few years of my family home that I grew up in. I realized that they were from when my dad was still alive and his car was parked on the drive. That meant he was inside either watching TV or in the back garden pottering about. Now they've updated the pics which are from after my mom sold the house Of course I have our pics of him, but it's weird to think that the internet will slowly erase him too. (I still can't delete his mobile number or email from my phone. It just feels weird.)
  16. Anyone still with "The Foundation"? It's pretty much lost me
  17. The sound of me snatching their hand off for that would be loud.
  18. Problem is that Sancho had people who coached him in the BL. He has a competition winner at UTD and a failure yes man for England. Hopefully he leaves Utd within 2 years without his confidence destroyed and goes to a club with a decent manager and coaching staff
  19. Why the hell is everyone putting Watkins out wide when last season he was one of (if not) the best pressers in the league at centre forward and scored 15 goals? Ings was a panic Purlsow buy. He doesn't fit our system and should be used from the bench when we need something different. It's completely wrecked Ollie bringing him in to the team.
  20. It's almost as if the Project for a New American Century think tank was wrong . The PNAC was directly responsible for the past 20 years of war in Iraq & Afghanistan. Of the twenty-five people who signed PNAC's founding statement of principles, ten went on to serve in the Bush administration. They included Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Richard Perle, John Bolton and Paul Wolfowitz. ) I think Condaleeza was involved somehow but maybe I'm mis-remembering. Is it little wonder that the US won't support or recognize the ICC - ALL of these neo-cons should be in jail. The irony is that Bill Kristol founded the PNAC and he is now a darling of the Dems because he hates Trump Well, it will be interesting to watching the Chinese have a go at empiring for the next 50 years - they can't possibly make as many dumb mistakes as the US.
