  1. He will go to Real Madrid for a pre agreed release clause (probably around 100-120million) and Man City will basically break even. They effectively have him for free for the next 2-3 years. Same with us and Kamara: Other clubs were moaning we are giving him potentially 160k a week. If we sell him for more than £25 million in 3 years time we will have made a profit on his entire stay, including wages.
  2. Coady wants to go the the World Cup and is not a guaranteed starter for Wolves now they play 4 at the back. If he starts every game for Everton he has a chance. I have a sneaky feeling something similar is happening with Mings / Gerrard.
  3. Fair point, but then again we've punched above by getting Coutinho (yes I know he's been poor), and beaten the likes of Athletico Madrid to Kamara. The power of the Purslow Power Point Presentation seems to be strong.
  4. There's a 5 week break in December, with a transfer window just after. There will the biggest of managerial merry-go-rounds in October / November. I hasten to add, if we are bottom half come then, Gerrard will be off. If a world class manager like Poch indicates her might be interested then that could be sooner.
  5. Unfortunately Rondon is also injured so they might play someone better upfront like Pickford
  6. Interesting conversation on the radio last night. Apparently Connor Coady will be angling for a move if he doesn't start. He desperately wants to the go the World Cup. I think it might be the same with Mings, he needs to be the first name on our team sheet if he has ANY chance to going to the World Cup. For both, at their age it's like the only World Cup they'll ever have a chance of going to.
  7. We did the same with Grealish. When Man City came in for him we offered Grealish to Madrid and Barca (who couldn't afford) as we don't want our players going to a club which may be a direct rival in a few years (big maybe).
  8. I think if we aren't top 10 by the World Cup, he will be gone. Mainly because Pochetino is available, who could take us up a level (he did with Spurs). New manager can come in and have a 2 month transfer window (effectively) to bring in signings.

    Chelsea

Desperation from the new owner. He's just getting in who he can and overpaying for the privilege.
  10. We "sensibly" would have offered him 10-30k on a 3-4 year contract. We need to stay within FFP rules, so this in sensible for a player whose resale value and future ability is completely unknown. He hasn't exactly set the world on fire in the mens game. Chelsea have the headroom and he's now guaranteed probably around 60-80k on a 6 year contract. They probably have a loan from a slave club already lined up which will cover half his wages.
  11. I live in Leicester (unfortunately) and moved here the year the won the league (even more unfortunate). The fans are absolutely flapping. No danger of relegation but it's clearly some sort of financial reset with the new training ground complex etc. Defence is a big issue. Fofana will probably go, Evans is always injured and Soyuncu is awful. Tielemans downed tools in a few games last year and will probably go at the end of the window. Vardy is constantly getting injured and Daka not quite good enough (yet). If they have replacements earmarked, selling Fofana and Tielemans won't be such a bad thing providing they can buy 3/4 decent players in return.
  12. Not exactly painting myself in a good light here. Child services imminent.
  13. This is effectively a keep fit exercise for him whilst living in one of the most beautiful places on earth..... Fair play.
  14. Depends if you are historic football fan, then loyalties will go to your team. If you are a young 5-15 year old girl with no previous loyalties; then its likely to be Man City, Chelsea or Arsenal I'm afraid. My daughter is aware that in our household you support Villa or you are going to be homeless. But if I weren't around, she'd probably support whoever Russo plays for.
  15. Already being highlighted on the radio, there is a marked lack of tribalism in the womens game. Therefore there is a huge concern that the influx of new fans will only support 1 of the 3 best teams.
  16. Soooo excited for the first away of the season. Then again, I felt like this before Watford away, only to be crushingly disappointed within 15 minutes of kickoff.
  17. I'll 2 foot her if she mis-controls it.
  18. People get caught up on social media hyperbole from fans who never actually go to games. He is one of our best ever players, and one of the best players I've ever seen live. Even if he was "quiet" he occupied a full back and a midfielder as the opposition were scared to death of him. He is a maverick and moving to a rigid City team was the complete wrong move. That doesn't make him a bad player, he backed himself to move "up a level" and it hasn't worked out (so far).
  19. If we didn't have Danny Ings, everyone would be saying we should go out and get a proven Premier League goalscorer like Danny Ings. We have a proven premier league goalscorer. Maybe he, or Ollie isn't the problem.
  20. My daughter has never really got into football, she will barely watch it. Last night, she was absolutely transfixed. Couldn't stop watching it. Woke up this morning and was kicking the ball around her room, wearing her Villa top and now wants a season ticket to Aston Villa women's team. She has new heroes. For us, as Villa fans I hope the club can take advantage of this and get more fans through the gates for the women's team: There'll definitely be at least 2 more this coming season.
  21. Still think its absolutely hilarious that clubs sell their players to Barca. They still owe other clubs cash from transfers in 17/18.

    Wolves

Thanks to a few "favours" by Mendes Wolves were promoted and solidified in the PL. Porto (to whom Mendez is very close) were in financial trouble due to Covid and needed quick cash to the tune of around 35 million euros. Wolves buy one of their "promising" youngsters for a similar amount (and pay Mendes a hefty negotiating fee),.
  23. If they want to blow 250k per week+ on a striker who will score less goals than Wilson then i'm all for it.
  24. Tielemans (like many players) is running his contract down and will probably go on a free next summer as a squad player for the likes of Liverpool, Bayern etc. If he's on a free next summer at 25 years old he will get 200k+ per week +. With no fee it amortises great for the club who sign him and he gets double his worth salary-wise. At 28/29 they can sell him and recoup most if not all the wages. For us, Kamara, if we pay him 180k a week for 3 years then sell him for 40million we've actually made a profit on his total services including wages.
