  1. I will absolutely maintain that what Sean Dyche has done at Burnley is harder than what Pep has done at Man City. How hard is it to take a billion pound squad, spend another billion and win the league? There's thousands and thousands of managers trying to make a small club premier league regulars without spending a penny. Dyche has succeeded in that. Confused emojis incoming

    Chelsea

If / when they go out the Champions League I think he will get sacked. Zidane the obvious high profile available manager who they haven't already sacked. Unless they actually want to start building a sustainable team then Ten Haag would be good shout. He'd do a really good job bringing through the 10,000 young players they have on their books.
  3. Dean Smith hinted he wanted to go 3 at the back when all players were fit (also gets both Ings and Watkins into the team). I guess he (and Man U) were assured first team football, which now we are 433 he just won't get. He's not better than Konsa by any stretch. As for Napoli, Koulibaly been struggling with Injuries. I wouldn't be surprised if this is some sort of makeweight deal for a potential move to Man U in the summer.
  4. The contact is Salah sticking his leg back deliberately then going down, watch it again. Xhaka initiates the contact with Silva (and pulls his shirt for good measure). Both are extremely soft, but only 1 is debated.
  5. There was more contact on Konsa vs Man City (Ake) than on Silva, but because it's not a big 6 team its NEVER debated. Same with Salah on Mings, less contact on Salah than on Silva. But because its Villa it's "oh Mings slightly caught his leg, must be a pen". Only because it's against Arsenal is it debated. I guarantee if that was against Villa, West Ham, Everton etc it would get 20 seconds and brushed under the carpet. It ALWAYS favours the big teams.
  6. Be interesting to know at what point does an "injured player" become eligible for selection. For example Traore and Trez. Neither are anywhere near being able to start a PL game, but technically they are part of the first team and available to play.
  7. To be fair he is 2 years younger than Thiago Silva who is doing a great job at Chelsea. You win some, you lose some.
  8. Refinanced a fair bit of debt, to be fair and at least Torres is a sensible signing. He's a player they need, young enough to amortise over 10 years (or sell) and not on massive wages. Basically the complete opposite of Griezeman. To be able to register him to play, they must hit La Liga FFP regulations, therefore they need to sell this winter. I could imagine a Newcastle going for a Coutinho, or Dembele at crazy money (to make a statement), I wonder if they have something lined up?
  9. 55+ Add-ons for a player who you paid 25 for is decent business.
  10. Massive 2 tier system developing in the championship. The fact Bournemouth (if you've ever been to their ground you'll know) are a financial giant in the Championship says everything you need to know. Norwich will walk the league next season, and it looks as though we might get 1,2 established PL teams fall as well if Brentford and Watford keep playing well. Almost getting impossible for a Bham / Cov to get promoted unless they sneak through the playoffs.
  11. Nail on head. Be a good little boy, don't cause any trouble and you'll get 4 games a week instead of 1. The referees know that when they inevitably give the Sky 6 a soft penalty and ignore a clear penalty for a Newcastle, Dermot and Pete Walton will be on TV defending them and saying they can see why it was / wasn't given, brushed under carpet. They also know that if they dare do something Jurgen Klopp is unhappy with, then Talk Sport, Sky Sports, Carragher, Souness etc cry all week and bring added pressure to the PGMOL. Going back to our game, if that Penalty on Salah wasn't given then Klopp would have been crying all week. The fact Salah dived, then they ignored a penalty on Ings got 20 seconds on MOTD, no other coverage and now completely ignored. Arsenal got the softest of penalties on Coufal, no real coverage. TAA made the exact same challenge (getting less of the ball), no Penalty. There's no scrutiny at all. There's been massive focus on the Kane tackle and Roberston Red card all week because it went against Liverpool. Not heard anything about the fact Xhaka did an AWFUL instant red card tackle on a Leeds player and it wasn't even reviewed. Referees should be judged by an independent panel of ex refs and players and ranked accordingly on big incidents. Newcastle are completely correct to put pressure on the referees. I think "the other 14" should get together and do the same, as the standard of refereeing is heavily biased.

    Liverpool

Remember last season when he cried about fixture congestion, then sent his full strength team to beat Villa under 12's?
  13. There's 2 options for teams with the big squads like Liverpool, Chelsea, City. There's the staggered 2 week break in the end of Jan + early Jan FACup 3rd round weekend is another opportunity to rest some players with 2 weeks between PL games. He could quite easily rest his big players for 10 days whilst sending the reserves to beat Shrewsbury in the FACup. Of course Klopp cries about burnout then decides to play his full strength 11 against Villa under 12's.
  14. They make more in match fees than basic pay. With VAR and 4th official its now normal to get 4x match fees each week (Match fees can exceed 1k). In addition everything is also put on expenses such as accommodation, travel, food etc. They make an absolute monstrous amount of money.
  15. Cant remember his name, but there's a Talksport presenter who is a SHA fan. Apparently there's growing disillusionment from the manager at a complete lack of funds. What did he expect? 40 million a year from a club who can't even afford a roofer? Manager dissolution does trickle down to the playing squad. This season might actually be the season.

    Liverpool

Hilarious how TalkSport and SSN spent the last 2 days talking about if Liverpool were treated unfairly. Klopp making out an agenda against the club. Quickly forgot about the Salah penalty / Ings no penalty against Villa and the clear cut penalty on TAA against Newcastle.
  17. Sorry. My father in law tested positive today. We are also cancelling our Christmas plans (at theirs) which can only be considered a good thing!!
  18. From an FFP perspective we are still only operating from 2 premier league seasons tv revenue + 1 championship season (peanuts). Add another seasons tv revenue (100mil) + Grealish money then we will be in a decent FFP position.
  19. Hilarious how Chelsea tried to get their match with Wolves postponed because of Covid in the team. They started with this team:
  20. Allegedly, Bissouma has off field issues involving the police and sexual assault allegations. Just to confirm he has not be charged with anything, but he was bailed pending investigation. Should he be charged, our club doesn't want any part of that. Purslow said character is a massive part of our hiring process and it may alienate some of our fanbase.
  21. Should just play every game when they can. If Villa and Burnley only have a few cases then play it. Who's to say if its rescheduled either team won't have 10 cases when it's due to be played? If 4 games are delayed into Jan, that gives an advantage to the likes of Newcastle who will be able to make signings, compared to a Burnely / Norwich.
  22. Except for Leeds - He's never managed a club side for more than 2 seasons. Bit similar to Conte. He extracts absolutely everything out of the players physically and mentally, but it's just not sustainable long term. They get fed up of the double training / murderball. Lose a few games, lose confidence in the manager. It's a downward spiral. They've spend 150 million, and overpaid for the likes of Daniel James. The squad bar 2/3 players is mid table championship quality.
  23. They'll give it to KDB for hitting it into the middle of the goal against Leeds from 20 yards.
  24. Don't fall for a manager who will leave for Liverpool in 2 years Don't fall for a manager who will leave for Liverpool in 2 years Don't fall for a manager who will leave for Liverpool in 2 years Don't fall for a manager who will leave for Liverpool in 2 years FFS!
  25. Burnley could be the perfect "making of the man" game. Carney is obviously technically good, but let's see how he gets on against a team who will kick you, knees in the back, follow through tackles etc.
