  1. They have withdrawn, but left hundreds or even thousands of soldiers in civilian clothing / moved into abandoned buildings. Russia has also shipped in many TV crews / reporters into the area. Ukraine will seize control of the "abandoned" city, but "civilians" will be helpfully filmed by RTA and Russia today uprising against the Ukrainian barbarians as proof the "citizens" of Kherson are desperate to be a part of Russia.
  2. After the World Cup, "The big 6", plus West Ham and Leicester will be playing 2-3 games a week, every week with no breaks. Man City's squad is ridiculous, but this will have a big effect on the likes of Spurs, Liverpool, Chelsea. Newcastle might have actually timed their worldie season perfectly to sneak into the Champions League.
  3. I had a concussion from a bad tackle in Rugby, weren't too bad, just a sore head for a couple of days, felt a bit disorientated and sick. Played again the following week, got another bang to the head (nothing major) but carried on playing, felt fine. I collapsed walking to the car after the game, ended up spending 3 days in Worcester Royal. The doctor explained to me, a concussion itself isn't necessarily devastating, but a concussion on top of a concussion can have life changing repercussions. For Emi, if he had a concussion he should be absolutely nowhere near that pitch on Sunday.
  4. Listening to the Price of Football podcast, we are already in a Super League. As of next season it will almost be impossible to break into the top 6 permanently. UEFA making it so you can only spend 70% of revenue on wages. Spurs revenue is twice ours so their wage bill can be twice ours. Man City is 3 times ours, so their wage bill can be 3x ours. Should we, or a Newcastle have a great season, the best players will just be cherry picked on higher wages.

    Unai Emery

Fans need to understand this. Not hound him out if we start season 2/3 badly. He's an elite manager, stick with him.
  6. I can't explain it as I detest most things American. But there is something quite endearing about Jesse Marsch. He wears his heart on his sleeve, is brutally honest and he seems like he just really really cares / wants to win.
  7. Probably worthwhile seeing what they do after the World Cup. Obviously they've gone OTT with the signings, but if they can stay in touching distance then after world cup I expect a better showing. Cooper is a good manager. I think they still have a chance despite the recruitment farce.
  8. That applies to basically everyone on TalkSport, not just those 2.
  9. Gabby joined TalkSport and immediately started winding up Leeds / Liverpool fans. Danny Murphy does the same with us. TalkSport make money from phone calls, text messages and generate interest through social media. If Murphy said, "oh that's a decent appointment" then it doesn't get shared on socials etc.
  10. Although he is the GOAT. The worship of Messi (and the obscene amounts of money they gave him) are part of the reason they are in this mess.

We have good players already. Firing money at the problem is just unsustainable. As Omar said, we had the equivalent of a F1 being driven by me, now we have a proper experienced F1 driver. Honestly, look at it. Take out the top 6 who operate in their own world. Take out preconceptions about how they played under a novice manager. Not many better fullback pairings of Cash / Digne CB: Carlos (CL level) / Mings (leader) / Konsa (was the next big thing). Not many better DM groups than Luiz (brazil int) / Kamara (french int) / Dendoncker (belgium int) No10: Not many better 10's than Coutinho / Buendia Strikers: Danny Ings is one of the most proven goalscorers in the prem. The squad really is not that far away, it just needs a manager who can extract from them the best of their abilities. I truly believe we have that now.

    Wolves

I think they are in massive trouble, and it's not just wishful thinking. Most of the players are there as a stepping stone, and really will not be up for a relegation fight. I could imagine half of them have called uncle Jorge and asked for a move in Jan.
  13. I think this Kherson talk is a potential ruse. Surely if Ukraine push down from Zaporizhzhia to the Sea then there's absolutely no land bridge to defend Kerson or Crimea with the bridge severely compromised.
  14. I literally can't believe people are turning their nose up a manager who took Villarreal to the champions league semi final. I'd have my own Semi, just if we got into the Uefa conference league.
  15. There was a definite "us and them" between the 2 sets of coaches when Gerrard was in charge. The players reaction may point to Macphee being over-ruled by Gerrard's team. Be interesting to see if we start looking more dangerous overall now.
  16. Dan Bardell and a few others have alluded to a potential "us and them" between the clubs coaching staff and Gerrards. It was extremely noticeable the team ran over to our set piece coach after Baileys goal, and noticeable that when our "attacking coach" Danks was coaching we looks quick and fluid going forward. Clear the Critchley was part of the Gerrard camp, not a "club appointment".
  17. Adding my 2 pennies worth. Gerrard will probably go onto be a good manager. But he is clearly learning on the job and not ready for this challenge. It was unbelievably naïve for Purslow to have given Gerrard this job, with a resume consisting of only beating Neil Lennon (just sacked by a Cypriot team) in a 2 team league. If his name was David Thompson (or another forgotten Liverpool player) with the same Resume he would get nowhere near a PL club. Cut your losses, get rid, get an experienced manager in.
  18. No it's really not. Because when either party is a mess, its us the normal tax payer who suffer and pay the consequences.
  19. If Putin was stupid enough to go for a Nato country he'd go for Lithuania, Latvia and/or Estonia. They are blocked in by the coast and bordered by Belarus. Vilnius is only around an hour from the Belarus border. Without Nato they'd be easy pickings if he wanted to retake former soviet states. Unfortunately for him, attacking any sort of Nato country would result in probably every single Russian military outpost being destroyed in around 6 hours. Vilnius in the Spring was full of the US Army (our Wizzair plane was next to an Osprey and C13 Globemaster much to my AVGeek enjoyment), but not enough numbers to stop any sort of ground attack in the short term.
  20. That's the "trained" military. Expect those numbers to exponentially increase when the cannon fodder is thrown into the meat grinder. Be a massive service to the world if someone could explain to the Russian people how many of their men are dying, in completely needless circumstances to satisfy the ego of a 70 year old midget.
  21. Super successful business people back themselves to hire the right people (Purslow), then trust their board members / execs to do the right thing with the staff underneath them. They won't sack Gerrard, they also had next to nothing to do with the hiring of Gerrard. It's all on Purslow.
  22. Leicester's entire model is based off selling players to Chelsea / Man U for 50-80 million, buying 2/3 high quality replacements and so on. They've had a couple of summers where their signings haven't exactly hit the ground running so their big sales have been limited, therefore acquisitions have been pulled back. They eventually managed to sell Fofana, but this was at the end of the window so expect them to reinvest in Jan and next summer. The biggest issue is they've had more misses that hits in recruitment which eventually affects their entire incoming transfer policy.
  23. When do West Brom lose their parachute payments. Promotions becomes infinitely more difficult without a financial advantage. Bruce has really dropped the ball with this one.
  24. That's because we make players worse. Good teams with good coaching staffs make players better.
