  1. A manager playing him and kamara together with a proper plan for them makes a world of difference and I know kamara wasn’t playing Saturday but dougie seems to have grown in confidence and intelligence since playing with kamara and that’s paying off in his all around game even when he hasn’t got his mate next to him
  2. I agree 100% with this. Having a nice ground doesn’t make you a big club unless you listen to sky. 10 years time that ground will be starting to show its age and people will have to talk about the football and still spurs won’t have win anything. big clubs win things! Spurs have one a league cup in the last 32 years that’s it. They haven’t even been to an fa cup final since 1991. That’s pathetic, so how dare anyone call it a big club when Wigan Portsmouth and Leicester have won the fa cup since them, stoke, Watford, hull, West Ham, Everton, millwall, Southampton Sunderland and even us have been to fa cup finals since they last made it. The only thing spurs have been successful at is the PR battle to make them selves seem like a big club based on nothing other than the location of the club.
  3. I thought he was good for most of the game today infact other than konsa constantly getting done in behind I thought the whole back line was excellent
  4. I was at the game so as usual you get very little var update. What was the var penalty was it a handball?
  5. Yep saw that just now. Don’t wish death on anyone at all but the is also a realism part to this that this really wasn’t a nice bloke with a heart of gold.
  6. I would be astonished if anything serious came out if this. Spurs can’t afford to spend the money we could demand on a goal keeper. I’m sure they might offer £30 million as a gesture to the fans to show they are “trying” but the £70-80+ million that he would actually cost not a chance
  7. I am not watching the game today because for some annoying reason it isn’t on peacock but from the sky sports text commentary we are very much on the back foot. Anyone know if this is tactical or are we just being pushed back by West Ham ? If it’s the later that’s disappointing against a team in the bottom 3 who have been getting taken apart by teams recently
  8. Loved watching them go out last night. What an average side they are. Can you imagine where they would be as a club if they hadn’t had Harry Kane. Sky sports news last night had a headline of “spurs trophy drought continues” as if spurs had any chance of winning the champions league and a drought is like Man Utd winning the league cup after 5 years of no trophies spurs haven’t even been in the fa cup final for over 30 years. They may as well have said wigans trophy drought continues
  9. I had the same in the upper holte and yes the were occasions when I thought we could have released Moreno but came back inside but the were a number of different moves yesterday when we built up slowly from the back and picked off palace from back to front and that’s what Emery is trying to do and at times it won’t work and it will require patience especially when we perhaps don’t have the ideal players to play this way but you can see improvement in a lot of the players even konsa is slowly looking more comfortable with the ball at his feet.
  10. Totally agree with this. The playing from the back is designed to draw the opposition out create space and then move forward. We did it a few times yesterday and nearly got cash and others in. I don’t think we have the players to play it really well yet but I think new recruitment will be about players that work in this system.
  11. According to the daily Mail Everton and us will be in for him. I don’t see us going for but Everton? Really they will probably be in the championship next year if not they will avoid relegation by a point and also they don’t have a pot to piss in how would they afford him also very much doubt Tammy would want to go near that club
  12. I think if they are waiting for DCL to save them they are in trouble. Ignoring the fact that he is always injured he is also actually crap too. He had one half decent season about 3 years ago but before and since has been average to poor at best. I have said this before but I think he is one of Everton’s biggest problems because the club are looking at him as if he is a super star striker based off that season and off the back of that not only haven’t replaced him they have actively let the one actual decent striker in richarleson leave. They won’t have much more of a goal threat than they currently have with Maupay when DCL returns so I think they are bang in trouble although as some have said they will probably scrap out probably by no more than a point with some 1-0 set piece goals. Fwiw I am worried Ollie Watkins current form might be similar to DCL and it disguises our need for a top level clinical striker.
  13. I would go as far as to say he is the best manager 95% of the league could hope for. He is elite, compared to most managers in the league he is way above and rather than worry about a couple of defeats early in the process we should be looking at how we are rebuilding our club after 3 years in the championship not so long ago. I am in no doubt that whenever emery leaves us and what ever the reason we will be significantly better off for his time here.
  14. The one good thing gerrard did was get this lad. Providing he avoids injury we have either a potentially world class midfielder on our books or a huge amount of money on our books of the back of a free signing with wages that are more than covered by the cost of what we would have had to pay as a fee.
  15. Without those very slight errors and lapse in concentration he plays for a champions league side which we are not so that’s why he plays for us but I have to say those errors are less and the ability on the ball is more obvious since unai came in.
  16. Must admit I was amazed on the match thread that people were saying he is anonymous and needs taking off. Yes he had spells when he didn’t pick the ball up and drive 60 yards up the pitch but his work and they way he operates is excellent why would we want to sell that kind of ability? It’s madness I really do think some people need to have a word with themselves but I do accept that sometimes during the match it’s emotion talking and not maybe what people really think.
  17. I completely agree, some of us need to get a grip and understand we have an elite manager who is at the start of a transformation process and the will be some ups and downs at times but in the long run we will be a much more competitive side than we have been in 25 years. We really do need to support emery and understand it will take time but what he has achieved already is beyond what previous managers could get out of mostly the same players. If emery can’t get a tune out of some of these players it’s because they are poor either mentally or physically.
  18. Sent coady for chips. That was the funniest part for me that he was 5 yards away from him by the time buendia scored. How he ever made the England squad even as a cheerleader ahead of mings is beyond me.
  19. This felt like a bit of a tactical master class to me. Stifle a team who are at home and we’re coming into a little bit of form but other than mings clearance off the line I don’t remember them creating much and then when the times right pick the off.
  20. I doubt he has lost the players at all but if he has it’s them that need to go not emery, he is the one with the elite winning mentality a lot of our players have proved they are mentally frail.
  21. I don’t think the Man Utd deal makes that much difference from a financial point of view because if you look at the money Utd have spent in the last few seasons of failure it’s huge compared to almost all clubs except maybe Chelsea. The are only so many world class and top level players out there and extra money doesn’t just magic more players but I guess it’s how they structure the club and take it forward but I think it would be foolish to think Utd wouldn’t have come back at some point anyway.
  22. I completely agree with this comment. Yes he has his limitations and how we want to play might stretch him to the limit of his ball playing ability, I will even confess to getting annoyed with him when he pops an aimless ball down the Chanel or looks a bit casual and hands momentum to the opposition but despite that he is still be a mile are best centre half (Carlos excluded because he haven’t seen any of him). He has been instrumental in taking us from mid table championship to mid table premier league in his time with us and he has been a colossus defensively more often not, clearly an excellent leader and a real role model and ambassador for our club. Overall regardless of football he seems to be one of life’s better people and we should celebrate that he doesn’t just phone it in, he wants to be here putting himself on the line for Villa. All that said top level football is a ruthless business and we should always look to improve which might mean he gets replaced as a starter but whoever that might be we can all agree they will have to be a bloody good player which can only be a good thing for us villains
  23. Kepa at Chelsea how much was he? Emi is a mile ahead of him in ability
  24. Absolutely madness to let the guy bring in the USA starting midfield then sack him a week later! It’s crazy they have spent all that money as well and in my opinion worse then they were last season because Phillips glued them together. Now he is cheering on Man City from the stands every week and Leeds look like one of the worst technical premier league sides you will ever see and running will only get you so far. I do also find it funny the idea that the way to avoid relegation this year might be to bring back the guy that was going to get them relegated last year, that seems like classic Leeds to me but I actually don’t think it will happen.
  25. Feels like it’s one of Leeds Everton or West Ham to join Southampton and Bournemouth going down. I think West Ham will be ok but the Leeds and Everton squads are very very poor, Leeds have survived on a championship level squad with champions league level fitness and work rate but that crumbled away last year hence why they are in big trouble. Everton have equal as poor a squad assembled for a lot more money but I think they might just scrap out of it with dyche so I’m saying Leeds to go and I think with the wages they are shelling out they will have a fire sale or another financial implosion
