To be fair I think we were excellent against Brighton and especially Southampton but leeds are really pathetic as a team. They have one mode of play which is run around more than your opposition but when they have essentially a team of mid championship quality it only gets you so far. Roderigo is £30 million of garbage raphina clearly wants out asap, they seem to see Branford as a saviour which is a lol. I thought in October they might go this year and I really think they or Everton will go now. all that said about how poor Leeds are our performance was a really professional effort to a man seeing out the manic headless chicken running and taking control of the game. My only criticism is that I thought Leeds were really there for a hiding maybe 5/6 nil but i felt we eased off them a bit and just controlled seeing out the game which I guess with a game on Sunday is fair enough. last point, did anyone see Emi Martinez reaction when the final whistle went? I only watched the first half and the last ten minutes of the second but my god they are a really poor side from front to back. Pickford as other have said is average at best, makes a lot of camera saves but the basics of his game are poor. the back four wow all of them are so poor. Slow and clumsy but also weak physically too and whoever thought that kenny was a premier league player needs there heads looking at and Coleman was done about 3 years ago and looks embarrassing playing premier league football and might I think struggle in the championship too but to be fair that could be said for the whole back four. How did they pay £30 million for Michael Keane ???? midfield is ok but not great. I think Gordon looks a decent youngster but a big light weight and not much end product. Allen average van Dee beek I thought would be better than he is I can see why Utd didn’t play him even with there team. Dacoure I think is ok as a physical presence but lacks quality and richarleson is clearly for me there most likely player but I think he blows hot and cold and if Barca did offer £100 milk which I doubt but under normal circumstances I would bite the hand off. Also perhaps says something about Barca’s recruitment policy too if that was true throwing money at average players. upfront DCL not a player I have ever rated, always felt he was a poser trying to look good while giving the impression of doing the right things but zero natural instinct for scoring goals. Had one half decent season which I think actually has caused more problems for Everton because they thought they had a striker so didn’t bring one in but actually they don’t because he is rubbish. finally deli, never the player you need or want for a relegation scrap. His career as a decent player ended 4 years ago the is nothing left to be squeezed out of him and he will leach a large salary out of what ever club he plays for based on form Hasn’t shown in years. I imagine if they go down he will leave to some other premier league club with a manager desperate to get the “real” deli playing again THEY WONT he is done. all in all I think they are in real trouble if not this year then next year could be the year they go down

I assume the will be an increase in corporate boxes as well? Does that count as part of the capacity? FWIW I hate corporate boxes and would rather not go than be stuck in corporate but it’s a good revenue stream

Everton’s situation doesn’t really surprise me. It’s very like us before we went down in that you could see it coming a couple of years ago but I thought they would’ve done something about the glaring issues with there squad like having lots of the same types of players and being unbalanced with no real style of play. the advantage Everton had over us back then is the money hasn’t been turned off yet I don’t think but if it was and they are stuck with this bunch then if it’s not this year it’s next year.

First line has to go to the ref. Hardly an angry game yet lost control to the point of booking half the players on the pitch. good performances from mcginn, cash Watkins mings konsa. Very poor in my opinion from luis I would have hooked him at half time. Brighton put us under very little pressure and never felt nervous at all

Fairly disgusting performance today, I think as an overall team we are very naive and don’t look streetwise in any way at all and as for Luis performance that yellow card summed it up

Shit referees making shit decisions while watching tv rather than in person. VAR is in existence because refs admitted they were shit and we all went along without thinking it would improve things but instead shit decisions take 5 minutes rather than instant. I for one hated the idea of VAR because the us literally no sport that has been made better by tv officials. It ruins the entertainment

Why when we have signed two good dead ball players is Luis even near the ball

I’m not I’m looking at the midfield 3 and the last one I would bring off is Ramsey. Luis has been pathetic McGinn ineffective and yes Ramsey hasn’t been great but still more likely than the others to change the game

I don’t think we can play this narrow forwards formation and expect Ramsey McGinn to press out wide with Douglas Luis in that middle role, he is to casual not athletic or physically strong enough that’s without him hiding from the fullbacks as I mentioned in my post about the goal

Doug Luis is a disgrace that goal came from him passing to Digne and not being good enough to take the ball back off him. Our midfield are pathetic when it comes to helping out full backs with options

He is starting to score goals which will scare Southgate a bit as our defense/midfield 8 are not generally allowed past the half way line

That second goal was a fantastic finish but the ground he covered at that speed to put him in that position was sensational. I don’t think there are many teams that can live with that pace and power running

He is a giant centre back he has to clear everything out there. Get his head in the ball smash James and buendia out of the way and command the situation

A proper DM doesn’t stop mings getting out jumped by a dwarf or not defending two corners in the same way and our Center half playing a five yard pass to an opposing player in our own box. I could mention the first goal too but I will leave that for now other than to say why does konsa not get tight in the box he seems to back off a yard like he did with Dan James first goal and I noticed he did it in other games (Leicester goal comes to mind) Is he scared of getting turned ?

Do you really think he would have done fine? This is the guy who let KDB, salah and Lukaku leave Chelsea for relative peanuts. Two of those three are in and around the worlds top 5 players and lukaku is the most expensive player ever in total transfers so I very much question the guy. Especially in modern football, take the last 5/6 years the guy would struggle to get a job anywhere

Nobody can resurrect his career because he is rubbish. £40 million for 4 years out of date reputation is madness and sums up why Everton are where they are. funny to watch from our point of view though
