I think this is pretty fair. On reflection we may have been better with Nakamba, he seemed to bring a bit more energy when he came on but it was nice for Carney to get a start and I think the experience will do him well.

I thought he was decent against Newcastle. Not a world beater but a solid squad player covering a few key injuries. I can't think of many 3rd/4th choice wingers with his goal record, pens of not.

It's an odd one, the likes of hourihane are also clearly off but playing tonight. Maybe an injury? Even the social media adverts were featuring him.

Thought he was excellent, collected the ball from the back 4 and Linked the play brilliantly. Some games we could do with a big solid number 6, against teams like Newcastle we just need a ball playing midfield. Felt we dominate them in the middle of the park.

I thought he had a great game and worked brilliantly with Mcginn and Luis. Lots of energy, great link ups and good to see Ramsey carrying the ball. We need players stepping up and he didn't disappoint.

Doesn't mean it's not the target. Yesterdays problem was not a new one, we haven't found a way of playing without Grealish. It looks like the ownership have replaced his goals and assists but neglected his other asset, the ability to carry the ball between defence and attack.

I thought we were all pretty unanimous in that Europe was the aim?

This was my main gripe as well. When in possession they just made our back 4 pass the ball between themselves. We really needed someone who could get the ball from them and help move it forwards.

I hope this new fella finally sorts out our throw ins. I've been watching us lose possession for years and would love just the smallest bit of improvement.

I'd like some defensive cover but like others have said I wouldn't want to disrupt much more. We know how hard it is to gel new players.

I think the pending grealish deal probably put another 10m on this deal but that's sometimes how it works. I'm not sure transfers are as simple as you suggest. At the other end of the scale we bought Wes. Young lad, similar fee with no injury challenges. He's then spent a year on the sidelines, no goals of note and his resale value is probably 5m if not less. If ings scores the goals that helps is replace Jack, it will be money well spent.

Agree with this, like all footballers he's in it to be the best he can be, at the same time he had a connection with our club. He's now moving to the premier League champions for a record fee, this is about success not money. For villa it's now about moving forwards, reinvest, build the squad. It's not our first challenge, we had to rebuild before when we over achieved. The project moves forward, like everyone else I just wanted Jack to be part of it. -
Isn't every club a stepping stone? We're just in the process of losing our club captain who's been at the club his whole life.

I just think this is what we have to do to compete with those ahead of us. Next year he goes to spurs or similar on a free. We can't compete then, we have to buy now.

I think he'll start the season, I think he will also need to play very well as he finally has some competition.

If he's still training it has to mean that their is no agreement in principle. Villa can not at this stage have agreed a fee. -
My sister in law has just had a baby. She didn't have the vaccine because of the mixed advise. Government would say have it, doctor said it was upto her, mid wives would tell her not to risk it. Now she's trying to get it but the practicalities of having a new born baby make it tricky. Imagine others in the same boat.
