I was a bit surprised that Nyland was so bad when he came to Villa. He was very good in Molde in Norway before he went to Germany. But I think he has found his olf selv again and even improved. Shows that a good keeper who turns bad can turn good again.

It is a lot less gamble to take him on loan than buying a proven midfielder from leagues in Belgium og Holland. We can give him 4-5 matches to get up to speed. We can not buy another foreighner that needs 15 matches to get comfortable in our league.

Nakamba is giving the ball away too easy. Maybe give him a rest in a couple of matches. Even though I have not been impressed with Lansbury, I would try him in the Nakamba role.

Good game today. He seems to position himself very well. Usually I am terrified when other teams are attacking our LB, but not today. In addition to him playing well, I think the formation also helped.

Very good today. Still think he take too much time on the ball and play with too much risk at times, but it looks like he was having more options to pass to today.

I like this new formation a lot. And it helps that the players have started fighting for every ball and every space on the pitch. And Grealish is just immense. And now he has started attacking the spaces to win headers in the box! He is getting better for every month. I really don't care if VAR goes against us or it helps us. It is terrible that they are checking for marginal offsides and hands. You (almost) stop celebrating the goals because you know someone in a stupis VAR room will see if they found something to put the finger on before the goal! Crap. VAR will make English football less attractive for tv viewers.

When the board has given the manager money to spend, it is not the board's job to sanction or stop the transfer of the players the manager wants to buy. It is basic corporate governance to let the man in charge use the budget he has been given.

Yes, the problem is that we don't have time to let them develop if we buy then before they make it. Just look at Martin Ødegaard, who has been given 5 years by Real Madrid before he might join their first team next season. And most of the other young players who come right from the Nordic leagues are a gamble.

I actually think that players from the Nordic countries will adapt more easily in the PL than from other European countries. Problem is finding the quality players. But history shows quite a few. From Norway, we had Solskjaer, Flo, Carew and King, all strikers who have done well for their clubs. Iceland had Gudjohnsson and Finland had Litmannen and now Pukki. Also some quality players including several that did not start in the PL. From Sweden: Brolin, Henke Larsson, Zlatan, Ljungberg, Schwarz, Dahlin, Källström etc.

The thing I will praise DS for today, is how he obviously has instructed the CBs to play tighter and closer to each other. I have noticed that our CBs have played too far away from eachother in several matches, making it easy for good strikers to get clean against our keeper. Now they played closer together and he also pulled the full backs more towards the centre. Very important change for us.

I think he has been one of our better player for quite some time, but he has been poor in the last matches. Needs some rest and bench time now.

I noticed that our CB pair positioned themselves tactically very good when the Norwich strikers were attacking. Earlyer the CBs have been too streched horizontally, which has made it easy for the striker to get a clean shot at goal. Now they were close. It might also have something with the set up from DS, bringing the full backs more into the field as opposed to being out on the wing. Looks like Konza and Hause has a good understanding of their own positioning and each others positioning. Hope to see more of this partnership.

Yes, now we need some cool heads that can be cynical and help grinding the points we need. With some better players in January and then next summer, we can aim at the players going forward. It is also ok to let Guilbert get some more time in order to improve. No one expects the foreigners to be a success the first half year (although we can probably see who is not going to make it at this stage).

I was thinking we would have a great season if we managed 40 points. We are halfay and not too far behind the numbers needed. And I think we have had some poor luck/been too naive in a couple of matches. But we will see how the second part of the season plays out.
