  1. How I have come to the conclusion that we probably will get a worse manager if he is sacked now? First, we do not have the pulling power over great managers, meaning it will be the usual suspects coming in. I think we should see where we are when the season is over. Was really really optimistic and hoping for Villa to finish the season between 14th and 17th this season, and still believe I have seen enough to suggest we migh get such great results and not go down, even with a dip in form as we have seen. Here is our latest 10 managers, which suggest our problems with pulling in the great managers. Thw two great managers were O'Neill and Houllier, and that was quite some time ago, when we were competing for top 4! Steve Bruce Roberto Di Matteo Remi Garde Tim Sherwood Paul Lambert Alex McLeish Gerard Houllier Martin O’Neill David O’Leary Graham Taylor
  2. I think he is better than Guilbert.
  3. I think he will be the best manager we can have this season (sacking him, and I am sure we will not improve - just look at how we did after sacking the managers in the 2015/2016 season). And I think we will stay in the Premiership. He makes mistakes, like most of the managers, but that is something all our 10 last managers have done.
  4. I think we need a better LB. Always get a bit worried when they attack his side.
  5. He will have some great games and some nightmares. But I am confident that he will create enough goals and points that we stay up.
  6. Looks like the best purchase of the summer. A steal for the alleged 8 mill pounds.
  7. Yes, that is true. It is difficult, as we have seen with quite a few players we have signed also. We think we get superb quality when we pay 20 mill for a striker, but we are actually paying for superb quality in the league we buy from. And that is often not the same as quality in the PL.
  8. Been extremely disappointed in Mings' performance. Takes too much time with the ball and put team mates in trouble every match. Always a big error in every match. Antother big sum of money thrown away, as we have done with Wesley.
  9. He was great. I actually think he will be better than Mings, who really is no Premiership defender.
  10. We should buy strikers from PL or Championship. Too much of a gamble to buy the strikers who are great in Belgium and The Netherlands. I have said I would give him half a season to see if he would fit into the PL, but I have not seen much of an improvment in the recent matches.
  11. He was a bit unfinished product in the beginning of the season, but now that he has been given some time, he is really showing that he is an asset. Think he will be a star.
  12. I am actually watching old matches on Norwegian TV. NRK 2 (the second channel of the national broadcaster) have something called Tippekampen 50 år (the betting match 50 year). It is 50 years since NRK sent the first English football match, and they broadcasted one match every Satursay all the way up to 1995. Now they will send some legendary matches throughout the weekend! The «Tippekampen» is THE reason why there are lots of Norwegians that support Stoke, Luton, Ipswich, Nottingham Forest, etc etc (even Aston Villa, who I started to support after watching them on tv in the early 1980s).
  13. But will we give the replacement the 3-4 months he needs to settle?
  14. He was 3 times better than Targett today, but that does not say much. Targett was the worst I have seen for a long long time. We need a new LB.
  15. Only thing I have to note is that we should gang up more on Silva and Sterling. They will score if we give them so much room.
  16. Think Wesley will become a legend if we give him the time a 22 year old talented foreigner from a non britisk football culture deserves. He is already showing that he can score goals.
  17. Very happy with today's match. And I think Nakamba is a steal of a midfielder. Great player who will be important. Happy with el Ghazi and Wesley. Think Wesley will become a legend if we give him the time a 22 year old talented foreigner from a non britisk football culture deserves. He is already showing that he can score goals. Also think we have a tremendous quality going forward, with Grealish, McGinn and Hourihane in addition to those already mentioned. And Luiz may become a star. Only worry is defence. But was going to write that I was happy with Mings for the first time, and then he do something stupid. Terry should tell him to become a no nonsense player!
  18. I thin he needs a break. Not adjusting to Premier League from a easy league, and that is a worry. Some training and coaching and we could try him again in a few weeks.
  19. He is getting better and better. One of our best today.
  20. As I said after the Arsenal match, he is too slow on the ball and he is nonchalant. The effects have been seen in the last three matches: He plays his team mates into troubles and this invites our opponents into the game and they put so much pressure on us that we concede. And he is hardly a proven PL defender. He had a great season with us last year, but he was not good enough for Bornemouth. I think the key to our survival lies in our two CBs and our defensive midfielder. Will of course give him some more time, but I fear the times when he will face the good strikers.
  21. I have been critical of Mings in the last matches, but he is not alone being poor in the defence, though. Neither Engels, Guilbert or Taylor looks Premier League material at the time.
  22. Our defenders are not Premier League material, are they?
  23. Loving him. Really good going forward and scores great goals.
