I think his physicality is also an important attribute, there isn't enough of that in our midfield. Sanchez is the only other midfielder that can win an aerial duel.

Say that to the fullback who is getting much better support. I'd imagine our fullbacks prefer Bacuna & Weimann in front of them over Grealish and N'Zogbia for example. I don't think a forward's priority is to defend the full backs.

I think you can get away with hard working being your best trait when you are a midfielder to an extent, but as a wide forward/striker it is a pretty lame speciality.

Good to see more players up in support of Benteke for a change. Lovely goal from Bacuna, thought Vlaar had a very good game.

There are calculated risks and there are blind gambles. I think we have gone with the latter, but sometimes they give the most excitement.

If he was called Timi Sherwooddi he would be hailed as a tactical genius, as big Sam might say. It does seem like a bit of a panic move and confirmation that we won't be spending much money in the foreseeable future, but taking a chance on a young English manager is laudable if there really was some thought put into it rather than it just being a cheap option.

I think he did a great job in making the squad stronger than what he started with despite having so little money to spend, but this just had to happen. Hopefully his legacy will be some good players still being at this club years into the future.

He is very hit and miss, but he does add something of the unexpected and likes to get forward. I think our midfield should be Delph, Sanchez and one other (not including Gil who should be further forward). I think Bacuna deserves more of a chance as none of the other midfield contenders have seized the opportunity.

He had a poor game, but nearly every time he got the ball he was facing towards his own half. I don't think he was used to playing with a left back like Cissokho, who is so uncertain going forward. There was very little attacking interplay between them, and I'm not blaming Aly for that, but I don't think it helped Sinclair.

He was possibly the best of a very bad bunch tonight, but he was being played far too deep, most of his good work was on the halfway line or our own half.

Play absolute rubbish for the first 75 minutes then give up for the last 15. Makes you proud... Nobody moving towards the ball, nobody anticipating a forward pass, some players left isolated while others stand next to each other. Nobody comes out of that game with any credit, the only positive was that Benteke at least looked interested.

The set up isn't working at all. Gil is too deep, Weimann needs to be off, preferably for Benteke but I'm not really bothered, just get him off.

I would have preferred to see Benteke and Sanchez back, but let's see what this line up offers.

Sanchez is a better player and I would always have him over Westwood, but your criticism of Westwood is way over the top.

I don't know what is up with Benteke, seems to be his attitude and application as much as anything, but you have to play your best players. I would still have him starting every game given our lack of suitable replacements, and I would still rather have a half decent chance fall to him than any of the other strikers

He should be in from the start in place of Weimann.

He hasn't been at his best for a while, and although he has been making too many mistakes he has also been doing a lot of good things. I prefer that he tries to make things happen rather than just pass that responsibility over all the time.

While he hasn't been terrible individually, I think he is a big part of why our team isn't really clicking. I remember when we were having an attacking break today, the ball was with Westwood and I knew that he would make the forward pass accurately, which he did. Cleverley just doesn't do that. Her might retain possession but he takes all the impetus out of the attack.

Some decent performances, not sure the subs were right at the right times, would have liked to see Sinclair on earlier for Weimann.

At least our best players should be well rested for the Hull game.

Glad that we didn't sign Lambert, although he would currently be a better option than Benteke. Hopefully the knowledge that we were after such a player might give Benteke the kick up the arse he needs. -
I thought he was a decent shout to play left back in the Bournemouth game as he would provide more going forward, but he didn't really. He was very poor today, and when he did try to go forward he cost us a goal. He also passed 2-3 throw ins straight to Arsenal.
