  1. It is like the country is oblivious to the fact that the main reason of all the problems in this country are actually down to the Conservative Party and government. They can do no wrong apparently.
  2. With Barristers/Solicitors it really depends on what area you are doing. If you do corporate/commercial/civil generally a barrister will earn quite a lucrative amount of money for when it gets to that level it becomes exceptionally technical. For civil solicitors it depends what sector they work in. In the commercial sector it is very lucrative but certainly for your formative years you will be expected to work pretty much all hours of the day. If a general high street solicitor the work is there and can make money, your just not earning the high salary figures that the profession allegedly has. In family, it varies between private paying and legal aid. Private paying will always be more profitable for solicitors and barristers but less work generally. Legal aid there is more work but pays horrific in comparison so you end up having to work twice/three times as hard to get the same fees. You can work it though to make a decent profit but it’s hard work. You generally get paid for certainly your Court work but your office work may not all get covered under the scheme. There are also significant risk of urgent cases coming into Court so you have to drop everything to deal with that. The current system is at breaking point though with the sheer volume (not just lawyers but other practitioners in the field are significantly overworked). Because the fees aren’t great though, firms are reluctant to get enough staff to deal with the work and can cause significant stress and strain on the people working. Barristers do get it to a degree, but also can literally stop working if they want (won’t get paid but can take that break). They also have additional expenses and with that taxi rank system you really are in pot luck as to how good your case is. I would arguably say that barristers probably can work the system better but it definitely could be done better. The legal aid rates haven’t actually changed since 2012 I think and even then they went down for hourly rate of work. Criminal though, pay is far worse under their legal aid schemes and is by far the biggest share. When they say a barrister could earn a few hundred quid if a murder case collapses, they aren’t actually wrong. Talk of barristers getting 2nd jobs in Tesco etc. isn’t unheard of, particularly during the pandemic. Unless someone desperately wants to get into criminal law, it is completely unprofitable and so the numbers of people in the sector are dwindling (or at significant risk of it). The legal aid system for crime is broken and needs to be completely overhauled and sorted out. Hence the strikes. To be honest, the whole legal aid system needs to be revamped and reinvested in. Sadly with the government we have at the moment, that is not going to happen. Crime is striking and already at breaking point as we know but family is under significant strain as well and it will not take much to go either.
  3. Calling @GarethRDR They have also announced North American Tour as well.
  4. Did you not see what this is? The Mars Volta Have Unveiled An Audio/Visual ‘Voltacube’ In Los Angeles Featuring Apparent New Music So yeah an art exposition with 3 minutes of a new song…
  5. Nick Timothy - as per the tweet chief of staff to Theresa May. Also well known Villa fan as well.
  6. Haha wasn’t me but was there. Did try and spot you but didn’t see a little kid around a bald bloke.Glad he loved it, they are a really fun band. Only been once before but they have changed it around since there, had a festival tent vibe I thought to be fair.
  7. Been meaning to comment on this! Glad you had a good time. I thought about going but to be honest the line up just didn't excite me enough to counter act against the malaise of the Download crowd. Of your good, Alestorm sadly do have that against them; although it was from the singer's other band Gloryhammer and can't tell exactly who those racists comment come from. Shame because they are usually a very good festival/drunk band! There are many other folk metal bands of similar ilk though if she liked that style. Spiritbox - still can't decide whether they are just hype or not. The songs for me sound a little too polished, but if their live shows are pulling out the stops then might be worth checking out. I saw something that a little kid covered them on American Idol and then they got her on stage for the London show which is pretty cool. Not a fan of Bury Tomorrow or Darkness but glad you enjoyed! With Iron Maiden, I don't bother with their festival shows anymore. I like the new album but at a festival the crowd is just going to want the classic. Along with the sound generally at festivals being not great can't be bothered and I am happy to wait for the proper tour. Sleep Token - I have to say, I don't get the appeal. Don't think what I have heard is anything special IMO so not going to go see them live. Deftones - that is disappointing. Were one of those that were making more want to go so in a way I am glad I missed them!
  8. At least Wolverhampton has relatively good transport links. Whenever I have had to go to Colchester way for work, it is easier to drive for 2 1/2/3 hours than get the train or anything!
  9. This has been released today and just currently listening to it at the moment. A real class mix of black metal, jazz and post rock. Almost feels like a direction Shining (Nor) could have taken to a degree. Stunning.
  10. Didn't even bother to try. Wembley would be pretty abysmal I suspect and getting tickets a nightmare. Just checked and looks to be sold out (although you can try and select) and tickets already on resale for £300/400. Disgraceful to be honest given what it is meant to be about (and revenues are going to charity). Ticketmaster are making an absolute killing out of this. In better news Zeal & Ardor have announced a UK tour in November and got ticket for Wolverhampton show. One of the best albums this year so far. Cannot wait
  11. Let's not forget it took Man City 3 years to get into the Champions League and then another year to win the league. Arguably it is more competitive at the top now as well so I suspect it will be trickier than they expect for Newcastle to break in.
  12. Shouldn't be allowed full stop if Sullivan is involved (and remains involved with West Ham). I would be surprised they would go back to SHA, I thought Sullivan and Gold were West Ham "fans"...
  13. That interview.... if he was anywhere near Villa let alone looking to buy it I would genuinely be going down protesting. Where do you start with the problems (I know some of these have already been touched upon)? Suggests he will be the new owner, yet goes onto to say that there is an issue with a majority share holder but don't know what the situation is. I'm sorry, if you are going to be the new owner, surely you would know everything about your club, especially a majority share holder. To be honest, if he is the owner he would be buying the majority share holder so the fact that there is an issue there is really alarming. He talks about going through the stands and changing rooms with Gardner and builders. Then talks about a player Kido Taylor at Arsenal? I mean good to tell everyone your transfer policies before you even own the club. Only come in for 3 years? Really how can you be so sure? What if no one wants to buy you out in 3 years; are you going to simply shut up shop? Not going on the board? But you're the owner surely you would be on the board? Not all his money, so if it is Sullivan's money surely that is a conflict of interest with him owning West Ham... Not sure what the money is secure on/what happens if defaults save won't take the club (stadium is owned elsewhere so can't ). Highly respected person as vice-chair? what about chair? Announce it at a press conference? Sounds delightful, is it going to be like WWE? Declaring got about £30 million to spend - I know a lot of new owners do this but it is utterly stupid. So how much of the £65 million has been lent to him? Whilst it may have worked for the Glazers, SHA are not Man Utd (obv.). They will not get that revenue back. Going to struggle but looking at top 6 in first season? Complete oxymoron. Which is it? Lee Bowyer - doesn't think anything as don't know him. Don't know a lot else but hasn't stopped him from talking utter b**locks about it. Hates the football business but going in for one last job to prove to himself and to the people who made up lies about him..? That's definitely a good reason to buy a football club. Keith Harris cant be clarified about the chair. Isn't he still involved with Everton? If so he would need to resign so a conflict of interest; but would he want to deal with Birmingham. £10 million of his own money - so he is putting in less that 1/6 if including the "transfer budget" yet will have a controlling influence? Fit and proper? Banned from Football for misconduct and dishonesty. it is also using another football owners money to buy the club. It is not going to be easy (and if he does pass, says far more about the test than him) Can't say a completion date but within days? When you look at the announced to the Stock Exchange, it only mentions 1 share holder and doesn't say who the sale was too. It would be incredible if he actually only bought 20 odd% and had no say whatsoever. And that is just from that interview. You also have him being bankrupt twice (and yet still has managed to get £10 million of his own money together to buy the club); the gloating of Watford after he was kicked for dodgy dealing; the liquidation of companies; failure to repay debts; lack of funds to buy other clubs. Should not be near any football club at all and absolutely awful, dodgy man. Almost feel sorry for SHA. Almost.
  14. Nah the one that is literally 20 steps away from the Keg & Grill!
  15. Ended up going to the Keg & Grill last night followed by a few more beers in the Craven Arms. Both excellent and worthy of plaudits given by others
  16. I think the pessimism comes in due to the potential timeframe. Between when those policy are put in place take and then take effect means that something else will be a problem but the Tories will take the credit. The Tories aren’t totally incompetent, far from it, despite the imbecile currently in charge. They just have 1 ideology: how to remain in power for their own benefit. It’s amazing how quick they can move if it means that if they don’t they will lose votes.
  17. Being devil’s advocates, what if they already know but don’t want the Tories stealing the ideas pre-election? Anything good done by the Tories for some time has generally been a Labour idea first.
  18. That’s a damn good price for getting to Orlando! Going there in September for a long delayed honeymoon so if you have any recommendations for food/attractions I would greatly appreciate it!
  19. 🕹 High Score Day #60 - https://highscoreday.com Random guessing helped this time around (for number 4, 1 & 2 were pretty obvious even for me)!
