    U.S. Politics

If he doesn’t attend though, it’s a criminal offence and means he won’t be able to run for office again. I suspect he’ll attend and try to make a show trial out of it but I don’t have the highest hope that the committee will be as robust as say the Judges have been with Alex Jones.
  2. At this rate the greens will overtake them, although I think I’m more surprised that 9% of people have a favourable view of her.
  3. Got a few shows until the end of the year whilst I am here: Biffy Clyro Zeal & Ardor Jazz Sabbath (A jazz based Black Sabbath cover band led by Adam Wakeman) The Cure Clutch Lamb of God Should be a good bunch of shows. Seen all before (bar Jazz Sabbath) but good to get back to some normality. Saw Clutch a couple of weeks ago whilst in Florida pre-hurricane (literally the night before).
  4. It was that version (M People) used. I was half listening to the speech. I would have described it as "style over substance", without any style.
  5. One thing that strikes me, is that as a politician she is actually really experienced. Videos of her being politically engaged as youth at the Lib Dem conference are well known but she’s been an MP for 12 years, 10 of which she has been a part of the government in one way or another. She should know how to do things properly and have picked up some of the tactics of her predecessors. What this (and every action to date) shows, is actually she is completely and utterly inept at the job. She either hasn’t paid attention, can’t be bothered or is actually really, really stupid. Just give me more of the Tory infighting, the only way it would be better if they weren’t actually in power and screwing over the country.
  6. I don’t trust them to close ranks when it gets to the crunch. I’ll believe that when I see it. However this is going much worse and quicker than I expected, not that I am complaining
  7. Absolute horses**t. Having come back from Florida at the weekend, I can safely say that insurance based health insurance only ever serves the medical companies and not the people. Firstly spoke to people out there about health. One I was speaking to in a queue for a ride, he's paying over $1000 a month for health insurance. I explained that for the NHS its roughly $300 for our payments (NI contribution - although personally a little higher) per month and he couldn't fathom it being so much cheaper. He also explained it still took ages to see anyone. Anecdotal I know but wasn't different from what the others were doing. Secondly, on TV most adverts were for medical products for problems that I had never heard of and clearly cost a lot of money. Whilst inviting you to speak to your doctors about it, it clearly would either cost a lot or bump up your premium on insurance. I would suspect that most of these products are unnecessary as well and likely to cause problems further down the line (the amount of caveats at the end of the adverts are farcical). The medical companies make an absolute killing out of the insurance process and it is normal people who fund it. Anyone who suggests that this is the way forward only has the big business interests at heart.
  8. Indeed… What this has shown is either a) they have absolutely no idea what they are doing; b) they have no idea what the country wants; c) they are only in government for their backers to the extent that they will ruin the economy for everyone else; or d) all 3. Thankfully it doesn’t appear that they have got the support in their own party for the truly crazy stuff, but it will still mean some bonkers stuff will get passed through. Hopefully it‘ll be over by Christmas but I have my doubts.
  9. They wouldn’t, all they would have saved is 5% worth of tax over £150k which wouldn’t be that much. I think I read that it wasn’t until you started to reach the stupid levels of income that it would start having an impact. That bracket would do better in a cut to a lower bracket.
  10. Shop bought stuff is pretty poor and a massive disappointment. However I’ve had mates (a while ago) home brewed it though and that stuff was really good. Think they add some preservatives or something to the shop stuff (I was told but I drank too much to remember). So if someone suggests you to try home brewed mead then try that.
  11. Because he’s in a spaghetti western?

    Weather...

Currently holed up in hotel in Orlando, to be honest not too bad so far but know worse will be overnight/tomorrow. Also seems that it’ll weaken a bit overland hopefully as well. Just hoping that flight Friday night will be still be good to come home on.
  13. Thankfully it’s only a few flights with Virgin and we aren’t one of them. All inessential shops are closed though (pub is open thankfully).
  14. They better f***ing not - we're meant to be flying out of Heathrow on Monday! Was planning to be blissfully in the air for the whole funeral!
  15. I don't think he is actually spoiling anything too significant. I have to say, that having watched it so far, it is alright. Not peak GoT but infinitely better than the end of GoT.
  16. Absolutely. Didn't you know Starmer's a Blood, right? Seriously though, the discussion as to whether Starmer's background is "working class" enough or not is irrelevant surely? Anything that Labour come out with at this time is going to be infinitely superior to the dross that the Tories will come out with. To be honest, all of the infighting within Labour (which is massively evident even here) is a big factor why the Tories keep getting in. They may be absolutely bonkers but they know that they need to team up in order to stay in power; same with the GOP in America.
  17. If they produce an article on the virtues of gravy on fish I'm going to get mighty suspicious
  18. She is utterly terrible isn't she?! So utterly wooden and dull. She is going to be destroyed in PMQs/interviews/debates and will simply say the thing that she thinks she needs to in order to get more votes. Zero integrity, zero morals, zero prinicples.
  19. This. He, along with many other Tories now have the title of former MP/chancellor/whatever and when the next election comes around will probably be quite happy to sack it in and start making some real money in the corporate world without doing any real work.

Fair enough. I quite liked it to be honest but it is very different to Lostprophets!

If you did fancy supporting the other former members of Lostprophets you could always listen to No Devotion which was all of them bar the singer. Think a few have left now (not clear) and it is a little different in style... However new album is out next month on 16 September.
  23. He does not look good does he?! I know he is still recovering, but how is he going to manage a full tour?
