  1. Yeah I was in my usual seat in the upper holte last night and can confirm TV and LG adverts were resoundly booed and jeered. Mental in the Holte when SJM scored. Night match at VP and a last minute winner - one of lifes truely wonderful unforgettable moments ! Made the 2 hr journey home to Newmarket much easier than it would have been if it had been 0 - 0, or 0 - 1......... Credit to the opposition and their fans. Did someone post something before the game that their keeper was their weak link? thought he played well to be honest.
  2. Lets hope that they are not looking for trouble like PSG fans were last night at Newcastle
  3. For all the end of season celebrations at qualifying for Europe and getting 7th place it does seem to be all falling a bit flat especially as this is our first home game playing European football for ages and it doesn't appear to be a sell out (yet). If we don't win tonight is this a deliberate tactic of not taking European football seriously then? Is it all about just getting to the best position in the premier league? in that case what is the point? I wonder if there has been a deliberate change in strategy that because of the amount of injuries at the start of this season the club have decided to "concentrate on the league".... I hope I am wrong
  4. Is this match heading towards a must win? Out of the mini league we are in with 4 teams, is it the top 2 that go through? or is it just the team that finish top?
  5. Mate of mine is an Everton supporter I said exactly the same to him...."god help who they have next at home!".....his reply......"its Everton!" the look on his face was utter utter dejection....
  6. Wasn't it Brighton who had a string of dodgy VAR's go against them last season?
  7. I am a bit confused (yes I am 65, but please hear me out)...have I got this right? Terrace View: This is a corporate facility for those who (a) is either an existing ST holder who purchases it as a bolt on to their ST for the season (for the season or match by match basis) (b) have forked out to jump the ST queue and gives them a ticket to a seat somewhere in the Upper Holte (not a block or row of seats) Lower Grounds: This is a corporate facility for (a) all ST holders (who normally sit anywhere in the ground) purchased on a match by match basis (b) a ticket for the game and including access to Lower Grounds BUT not access to the Upper Holte. These seats are located in a block in the upper levels of the Trinity Stand................ (do the recent photos of empty seats prove unsold tickets via this method?) Have I got the general idea of how this works?
  8. Looks like this is going to be used for the anniversary season. Design by committee is never a good idea, look at all the designs for the badge on this thread there is no design that everyone likes ! I have had a link to the survey, but not done it yet. What do we want the badge to "say"?, if we want the club to appeal to a more global audience then just a lion and 1874 says nothing to a potential fan in Asia. I think it has to have the words Aston Villa somewhere on the badge as a minimum doesn't it? Tin hat firmly on........
  9. Oh yeah this is exactly why they are doing it, if a mid or lower table team had this decision go against them while playing a sky scum team then it would not even get reported. Whoever plays liverplop next will have everything against them, not just liverpoo and the on field officials but the VAR's lot as well. Perfect example of a bully getting his own taste of medicine, and he doesnt like it and lashes out out blaming everyone
  10. There is a bloke where I work where him and his wife adopted. They had to go through lots of hoops and meetings and it took months, but they have now adopted 3 little ones aged 1, 2 and 3 all from the same mother. There is a scheme at my place where you can claim upto 6 months (it might be longer) paid time off to build the bond with the kiddies. Hats off to them for giving 3 kids a chance. It is worth considering adoption, but it's a tough process to go through (as it should be) to show that you are potentially going to be suitable parents for adoption. I mean you don't get a receipt and cannot give them back! I would definitely explore it villamarv, lots of kids just need a loving and stable home....they just need a chance in life
  11. Some poor and bad taste comments about the wet shirts and our Villa women's team....how would those that make these comments feel if it was their daughter or granddaughter playing....?
  12. So what are are priorities this season for our football club? Stay in the premier league ? Stay in the premier league ? Stay in the premier league ? Stay in the premier league ? Qualify for European place ? Get out of League cup at earliest opportunity ? Get out of European football at earliest opportunity ? Get out of the FA cup at the earliest opportunity ? I do agree with some of what you say though...
  13. Play like that at home next week in our first home game in Europe and we will lose, then what was the point in qualifying for Europe? I don't mind losing games as long as we look like we want to win, but sometimes we look like we can't be bothered and just going through the motions. Beginning to wish I had not bought my special deal of three home Europe games at VP....sigh
  14. I just find this whole thing about our shirts farcical. The key to success for a football club is the players and their performance. Letting professional sportsmen and women wear sub - standard sports wear, that is likely to impact on their performance is grossly negligent. I getting my running T shirts from the "normal" popular suppliers and they work fine for me, an old fart at 65 pretending to run a 5 or 10k Who decided to procure these awful shirts that look like cheap knock off products, probably ok for us plebs, but to assume that these shirts are fit for purpose for a Premier League team, needs firing and the contract torn up. Our players deserve the best kit, our club can afford it What is absurd is having is our players being distracted and inhibited from playing and competing at the highest level by wearing a poor quality shirt

    Wolves

Was going to get a Martinez top for her birthday but the club shop wanted £55

    Wolves

My 9 yo granddaughter is going to her first ever game tonight Ipswich v Wolves She is getting into football now, but I hope she doesnt end up being contaminated by deciding to follow either team..... I will never talk to her again if she does....!

    Chelsea

Just seen the highlights and to be fair their keeper made some good saves, especially the one from JJ near the end, wonderful shot, and a good save.....a good "football" moment.......would have been even better if it had gone in !
  18. On a Saturday lunch time kick off??? Unlikely....
  19. Was at the palace game and we couldn't pass to each other and we couldn't hold onto possession. Both liverpoo and palace unlocked our defence easily with a simple ball over the top of the defence. It appears the same happened last night. I think it's a combination of other teams now have worked out how to play against us and without mings etc to organise us, our high line tactics and defence is non existent .... Slightly worried to be honest, we have lost our resilience and look weak
  20. Was also going to say, my granddaughter who is 9 yo loves footy, she has never been at a game but she likes being in goal, looked in the shop on Saturday for a Villa green Martinez shirt for a child.....£55.....ridiculous...not paying that Maybe ST holders should get a discount in the shop to make up for losing the Holte Suite and the disaster that is the "corporate" terrace view.
  21. Well I am at the opposite end of the spectrum to some of you on here, I am older (65 now) and will be retiring at the end of this year, and I live near Cambridge, so that is a 4 hr return journey for me every home game. It is several things really for me, ticket prices (although I may qualify for concession next year), fuel costs and the journey time seems to be getting longer (maybe more traffic). I love being in the upper Holte (although the facilities are becoming worse), you cannot beat a live game, I never ever watch the Villa on telly, they always lose when I do that and it is too stressful ! So if I decide at the end of this season that's it for me after following the Villa ince the late 1960's, I will always look out for the results and match reports but all good things come to an end and sometimes that's forced on us all due to illness, prices, personal financial situation, work - or lack of it etc As a ST holder I intend to go to as many as I can get to this season with a view that this season might be it for me...
  22. I wonder if the meeting was set up in the Terrace View on a match day on purpose in order to finish the meeting earlier than normal. Would have been much better to have done it in the Holte Suite where you would not be disturbed by people coming in to the Terrace View pre -game. Thanks for your report, it does make depressing reading to those of us who have stuck through Villa from the 1960's.... I will be eventually be priced out of my ST in the upper Holte and when that happens thats it for me with footy, a 4 hr round trip from Cambridge is tiring enough for a 65 year old.....sounds like I am looking for an excuse .....could be my last season, hopefully we will go out on a high and win the FA cup

    Chelsea

We all know what's going to happen when we play them, all of a sudden everything will click into place for them and they will all play the best game of their lives...
  24. To be honest no professional footballer should be doing basic stuff like foul throws and encroachment when penalties are taken
  25. Was at the game but just watched the highlights and Ollie's shot that hit the post and rebounded of their keepers head was a sublime peice of skill to be honest and worthy of a goal.
