  1. Whilst it is nice to feel confident, I wish some of the Villa Fans would stop being so arrogant and cocky about it. Some of those on WM are just behaving like the Wolves fans last season. I am hoping that we aren't jinxing this.

    Sir Doug Ellis

Here is my little tale about Doug. I was at a Villa Awards Night Dinner one year (it was the year JPA won player of the year so naturally I was there :-)) - early 2000's I guess. Anyway, I had been to the ladies' and on my way back to our table, I had to walk between other tables. Anyway, Doug was doing a bit of "mingling" and talking to the tables and I needed to get past him so I said "Excuse Me Mr Ellis" and he said "oh you want to come past?" - "Please" said I - "OK but give us a kiss first" - so I had to give him a little peck on the lips! Anyway, he was Villa through and through and we often used to see him being driven up or down various motorways in AV1 as we were driving to away games. We would always wave as AV1 cruised past our little car and he would always wave back. RIP Doug
  3. If Zidane goes to Man U, Jose would be available (ha ha)
  4. Is this actually on Sky as it says Leeds are live game on the Schedules?
  5. How very sad. My thoughts are with all the family. Having lost my Mum in November to this awful thing called Dementia, I can fully sympathise. It's awful when your own parent doesn't realise that you are their child. What a very great shame for our greatest Manager and his family to have to go through this. I can only hope that Ron doesn't suffer for too long because I am sure he wouldn't want to lose all his dignity and nor does he deserve to. As Tony Butler used to say - "Prayer Mats out - Hail Saunders of the Villa "
  6. So. for those of us that had to hold on to last Season's ST, are we confident that it will actually have been reactivated? I guess Saturday will tell us but I am a bit worried as I would have thought we would have had a letter or text or something to confirm
  7. Our time will surely return - when we can tell these so called "Elite" clubs to go stuff themselves. For years and years we have had a good player and one of them has come along and taken him. Well, we have the third richest owners in English football now apparently and when we get back to the Prem, we can rightfully tell them where to go. We will be back to being one of the so called "Elite" clubs (AKA The Sky Six/Seven) Hopefully amyway - such a terrible shame if Jack goes though - let's hope this is the last time this happens.
  8. Now that I have the feel good factor back, I went to Villa Park store earlier and bought new shirt. I thought there might be a few people milling around but the store was possibly the busiest I have seen it other than on a match day. Loads of people buying shirts. The feel good factor is back. Woo hoo.
  9. Oh Wow, a reason to be cheerful (part 3) again. After weeks of depression -brilliant news. Now can we change our crappy entrance music to "Walk Like an Egyptian" and the team can sand dance on to the pitch (like John said earlier) . I might be tempted to go to the Villa shop again now and look at these new kits - , and to watch Sky Sports News - all of which I have avoided since Wembley. ?
  10. I am just so disillusioned with it all. I had just about got my head round selling Jack but everyday brings yet more depressing news. Today apparently we cant even afford loan players and yet more of our stars are attracting interest. . I have no enthusiasm for the coming season at all. It is all just so sad. Renewed ST back in April. Little did we know what was awaiting us. Just awful. Last one left at VP turn out the lights. Fed up.
  11. He hasn't sold the Brookvale car Park yet has he? He has mortgaged it though by looks of it. If he sold it, where are the thousands of people that park there going to park - or is he expecting us to have no supporters . It all makes me so mad and very, very sad.
  12. Fortunately i was home by 10.00. Left straight on final whistle. Train from Wembley to Beaconsfield where our car was parked, quick nip up m40 and on m42 and home. Wd have been awful to have had to hang around trying to get away from Wembley after that. Dont like Wembley . I always thought Emirates Stadium was better. Also no phone or internet signal at all . Still hurts. Reading storyin Sunday paper that Jack will have to be sold. Hope not.

One of our party cant go on Sat now. I have 1 tckt Block 124 to sell . It is £98 plus there was the usual £2 charge. So just face value £100. Must be able to collect either from B25 in evening or B28 during day. Cash payment if poss . PM me if interested. Thanks Hev.
  15. Sorry but the pitch invasion spoiled post match for the rest of us. The music was stopped , the players were unable to come to clap the supporters and we were left wondering what the big banner said. I guess the pitch invaders had a great time though and the players didnt seem to mind to be fair but it did dampen the post match atmosphere for the rest of us .
  16. Same here but I wd like confirmation that it is on the ST. We cd always show the e mail at the turnstile if there's a problem I wd hope.
  17. So Sad. Condolences to Steve and his family. Let's get through these Play Offs now to cheer him up a little although nothing makes up for losing your parents

    Wolves

I did mean I was jealous of Wolves this season yes that is correct and, by the way, have a look what it says under my name "Ladies Team" !! To be fair my brother in law has been a Wolves ST holder for many years and has seen them down in Div 4 - he has been with my sister since I was 10 so I have always had an affiliation for Wolves. To be fair he isn't doing all this "mind the gap" crap - but he is enjoying it - don't blame him to be honest. Wish we could be there too!

    Wolves

I've always liked Wolves to be honest but I am pretty fed up with their banter this season (Jealous really I guess) but I am sick to death of hearing this crappy "Mind the Gap" line. Still never mind, they are going to be in the Champions League season after next apparently !
  20. Do you think that the home leg of the play off will be free to Season Ticket Holders - it is a league game technically? Would be great if it was - we need to do all we can to sell out 42,642 for that game for sure
  21. It shd be called off. Treacherous conditions in Brum now
  22. Well well, I have listened carefully to that clip on You Tube and you are right he definitely DOES say "adventure". Fancy that, we have had it wrong all these years. It obviously was some sort of urban myth. I have to say well done then to the makers of the new banner for "righting a longstanding wrong". (We can forgive them the "goodball" all in one word) . Lovely banner and well done. Thanks OutbyEaster for clearing it up.
  23. Before the game on Sunday, I noticed the lovely new replacement banner on the North Stand and then, on looking further, noticed that whilst it looks great with the Badge added at either end, unfortunately, there appear to be a couple of errors ? The correct wording is, I believe, "Shaw, Williams, prepared to venture down the left. There's a good ball in for Tony Morley" . . . etc but the banner says Williams prepared to adventure down the left. There's a goodball in . . . Pedantic of me I guess but it's a shame, especially as the commentary is so iconic . Still onwards and upwards
