  1. We need two managers: 1 to guide us to safety over the next 12/13 games. Someone out of work, maybe a point to prove, knows the league inside out, disciplinarian - I give you: Sir Alex Ferguson - I wonder if he could be tempted out of retirement for the remained of the season - Million pound a point salary. 2 Once we know what division we in next season, then we an appoint a long term successor - any one of the names that have been banded about.
  2. The thing is that you can not look at one case in isolation, it's all or nothing, and I suspect the gov't couldn't afford to make prisoners spend their full sentence in prison. Not to mention any rehabilatory benefits of being released under licence. I do agree that to be out after 2.5 years does seem lenient.
  3. Football is now a business, so the decision to employ Evans will come down to the cost of employing him (eg loss if sponsors or stayaway protest fans) vs the money generated from a Ched Evans driven promotion. Ultimately the public has a very short memory, and next week there'll be someone else in the news deflecting attention away from Evans. To be honest I suspect it's all a moot point, as being out of the game for 3 years, I'd doubt he'd play at the same standard as before his conviction and he'll end up plying his trade someway below the football league.
  4. How Henderson gets in the team is beyond me. Even if we ignore the own goal, he keeps on giving the ball away - we get away with it against shite like this, but we'll get punished against a decent team.
  5. James Brown - or more specifically, his popularity.
  6. 0-2 - Adebayor always scores against us. What are the odds of Lambert not changing a thing and playing a midfield of Westwood; Cleverley, Sanchez and a front 3 of Gabby, Weimann and Benteke.
  7. I've been a supporter of Lambert, not so much with a belief that he's a great manager, but I believed that the constant changing of managers was counter-productive, and benefits of stability outweighed the ills of lambert as a manager. Enough is now enough! And it's time for change. Someone posted on this or another thread the Einstein quote about expecting different results without changing anything, this is one if my biggest gripes - how many times have gabby and Weimann played as wide forwards and offered us nothing, I bet they both start against Spurs. As for who should replace him then I'd like to think out of the box. My suggestion, and I've no idea where or if he's employed elsewhere, would be Jorge Sampaoli, the manager of Chile in the World Cup. They were a joy to watch, and with the exception of Sanchez (who's a wonderful player) their squad isn't so different to ours. What I saw was a team with belief, with a plan, with belief in the plan, playing a brand of skilful technical football. I know it's fanciful, as no matter how bad it gets, I just can't see Lambert being given the push.
  8. Longest street market in Europe, allegedly.
  9. £1000pm should get you a 1 bed or a studio in Waltamstow, and as everybody knows Walthamstow is the centre of the known universe * *it isn't really, and it currently being over run by bearded hipsters.
  10. Does being raised in a predominantly white town/city really make you more likely to be racist than someone raised in a multi-ethnic town? Wasn't Barking and Dagenham for example one of the areas the BNP performed best in? LBBD had 12 BNP Councillors at one point. Don't think that they covered themselves in glory eg hardly ever attending Council meetings etc etc, and all lost their "seats" at the last Council elections. IIRC, all LBBD Councillors are now Labour.
  11. It's more difficult to do than you think it should be. Lloris JaunFran - Vlaar - Kompany - Cole Vidal - Scheinsteiger Ronaldo - Messi - Hazard Ibrahimovic
  12. I bet the water was scared to come out of the bucket Didn't see any ice!! Recon the coaching staff were too scared and used slightly tepid water
  13. Champions: Chelsea Champions League qualifiers: Man City, Arsenal, Man Utd Relegation: Burnley, West Brom, Swansea Villa Position: 13th Champions League Winners: Bayern Munch Top Scorer: Diego Costa Flop of Season: Luke Shaw Signing of Season: Alexis Sanchez 1st Managerial Sacking: Gary Monk
  14. I think that Lambert will want to have three in the middle of midfield, so that's KEA, Delph & Westy. Back 5 largely picks itself, so Guzan, Hutton, Vlaar, Okore & Cissokho. and that leaves the front three, personally I'd go with N'Zog, Gabby and Richardson, but it could just as easily be Bacuna (for N'Zog), Wiemann (for Gabby) & Gealish (for Richardson). Bent hasn't done enough to justifiy a start, nor has Joe Cole.
  15. I think this is a reasonable signing on face value, if a bit 'meh', but it does depend on the opportunity costs, ie does KR's wages prevent us signing a super duper centre midfielder (I'm not using the phrase DM, as we're not playing football manager), something that we'll never know.
  16. Sadly it's all about value for money, and at 35k a week Albrighton doesn't represent that. Wish him all the best. Remember we still have N'zogbia, Grealish and Tonev who could play in his position. Whilst none have yet shown the same qualities or application in the first team, we can only assume that the club believe at least one can step up to the Marc (pun intended)
  17. Any more than 3 Sheikhs is a w*nk
  18. Yeah. Liverpool '05, Milan '07 and Chelsea '12 all won it while being very poor (by Champions League standards), but over 2 legs anything can happen really, then certainly the same can be said for a 1 off Final. I think the current Madrid and Bayern are like the Barca of 4 or so years ago though in that I think they're just too good. Whoever wins when they play each other will win it for me. The difference between Chelsea '12 and this United team is that Chelsea could at least defend. You can not say that about this united, who look awful at the back. Evra looks a shadow of his former self. Rio's past it, Vidic's mind is on his new club, Evans and Jones, not good enough yet, Rafael poor; Christ, i even fancy the Villa's chanes against their defence/.
  19. I have a nagging fear that Man U may come in for him in the summer, and he'll be off. Why, I hear you cry - Man U need a complete rebuild, they need at least 2 new center halves. They'll sign some very expensive players £25m+, but to try and make that money go further they'll go for some cheaper players. How much we want £8-10m, for an international player with two years Premier league experience would a good short term fix for ManUre. Hope it doesn't work out like this, but it'd be another Villa step backbards, if he was to leave.
  20. Design build & implement secure IT systems for the Old Bill.
  21. The OP asks the wrong question - "should he be sacked". It's arguable, as demonstrated over the last 100 odd pages. There are certainly compelling reason why he should be. But, a more important question is will he be sacked, and I think it's an emphatic no. The reasons for this is (1) RL believes in the 'PL project' and PL is meeting the target set out at the start of the season - reducing costs and avoiding relegation. (2) I don't think RL has got the stomach for another managerial recruitment process (3) I don't think RL wants the cost of terminating the current management team's contracts and the potential cost of compensation of a replacement managerial team. (4) a new manager will require another £40-50 million to refresh the squad in his own image. Can imagine RL seeing that giving PL £10-15m cheaper/better value. So should PL be sacked? maybe. Will he be sacked, not in a million years and there's no amount internet discussions or fan protests is going to change this.
  22. Over the weekend I had a text from my (saints fan) brother-in-law, reminding me that it was only 3 years ago to the day that we went to watch Dagenham vs Southampton in league one, and now they're 3rd in the premier league
  23. Sweden - Not sure if that's a good thing or not, or how that outcome was chosen.
