  1. Down the pub, having a fag out back, managed to rip a filling out, low and behold we score! Don't think I can d aford the dentistry bill to support villa through the entire season. Honourable shout outs to Guzan, Baker, Westwood and benteke
  2. No intensity like against arsenal or manure. Offensive, no one having a good game, they've been rather subdued. Baker and Clark have been doing well, and Westwood been the best of a bad bunch. Have to say we look nervous, a goal would settle us down.
  3. Did well, fantastical pressing. The arse didn't have many chances. Midfield worked hard. Thought gabby had a really good game. Westwood starting to look a premier league player also. Gabby motm for me.
  4. Does this mean that the Bearing is OOB? Any other suggestion for a meeting point?
  5. Anybody thinking of heading down to the Bearing (or anywhere else) for the Arse game? Is the Bearing likely to be "full" of gooners?
  6. Scott Parker anybody? Is he injured at the moment? Doesn't seem an AVB type player, but he'd add 'steel' and experience that we're missing.
  7. Holy Shite, there's an ignore button. Proof that there is a god!!! No longer do I have to suffer the pointless ramlings of those who clearly have never watched a game of football in their life, let alone the villa. You know who you are!!
  8. So is anybody going to the Baring to watch the Norwich game? I'm up for it, but if I'm going to be a billy, I might as well do that closer to home.
  9. How do you know that he didn't try to sign these "proven quality" players but their clubs weren't prepared to sell.
  10. You can not underestimate the message that it sends out to all of the squad. Firstly, if you have possession of the shirt, and play well, then you retain the shirt. Ie following a good display against Man City, Gabby & Benteke deserved to start against the Albion. The message that goes out to all the squad, play well or as instructed by the manager, then you'll keep your place. The Second message is if you try and take on the manager or the club, then don't expect to play in the next match. It doesn't matter how unintended or innocuous your words are, keep you moaning within in the club. Hence Bent dropped for Spuds. Now I'd imagine Bent to be back in the team for Fulham, and all this will have blown over, but the wider messages (as described above) will remain throughout PL's tenure, and will ensure the whole knows where they stand.
  11. http://tinyurl.com/8wwguo7 Always on the cards following their poor start. Wonder who's next. Also, how did Bolton manage to end up with £110m debts?
  12. Anyone there yet? I'm at highbury corner waiting for a 271
  13. Just a word of warning for those planning to travel to the pub this afternoon, there are a load of tube line closures (or partial closures) so check TFL before you set out TFL
  14. I'm in zakinthos at the moment, but have provisionally been given a pass from SWMBO, so recon I'll be there about 3:30 ish. I'll be the one with a suntan.
  15. thanks mate. i am absolutely going to try my hardest to come to this all depends on work but a sit stands i am off. if not will definitely be at next one i think we need abit of a introduction on here so we know abit more about each other before we meet! Do we all need to be wearing claret carnations so we can identify each other as VTers?
  16. Top row, 3rd from the left - Dave Grohl?
  17. I'm up for it, obvious preference for either the Baring or the Albion (would we really want to go here for the boggies game?). I live in Walthamstow, and there used to be 2 or 3 pubs showing the football on a Saturday afternoon. The Bell is closed for a referb, The Flowerpot doesn't seem to be doing it anymore. I shall continue to my research, an dreport aback.
  18. I'm in a similar position with EastEndVillan Jnr, who'll start school Sept 13. Closest school is a very good Catholic school. Wife says over her dead body is he going to a religious school. I'd normally concur, but tinged with a dose of pragmatism of the school being 2 mins up the road, and the alternatives being much further away. Aaaaarrrhhhhhh.
  19. What surprises me how little blame has been attached to SWFC. Admittedly, I'm only a 100 odd pages through the independent report, but there's loads of evidence presented that SWFC should be ashamed of, and played a part in the events of the day. I'm thinking primarily of the turnstiles being antiquated, and not sufficient to handle that volume of people; secondly, to the lack of signage directed supporters, who would be unfamiliar with Hillsborough, where to go. What make it worse, for me, is that the crush in 89 wasn't the first time it had happened, and it was only by the grace of god that it had not happened earlier in 81, 87 or 88, where exactly the same problems had occurred, with out the tragic consequences.
  20. I'm a short Tube journey away, down the Vic line from Walthamstow. Could this be a London VT social?
  21. I'm lead to believe that the squeak noise is made by the nail moving up and down in the joists (is that what they're called). One way to eradicate the problem is to screw the floorboards down. Won't look good if you're going bare floors, but if you're re-carpeting, jobs a good 'un. I replaced a load in my old house, it was quite easy, but I did have the use of various electronic saws. The ball ache is the sanding, which is just horrible, and covers the whole house in dust for days and weeks. Then the not walking on then before the vanish is dry
  22. You can apply this to all adverts, they're all pish. Can anyone remember a decent, funny, intelligent advert, i can't! It got me thinking, I would imagine that working for an advertisement agency, and creating ad campaigns would be a highly desirable job. As such, for any vacancy, there would be a glut of applications. Following the logic through, there must be some talented, creative people that apply, and thus the cream of the crop would be recruited, but still the adverts are gash. Why is that? I can only surmise that there are talented people producing decent adverts and concepts, but they never get selected by the commissioning company, as they want something that appeals to the lowest common denominator, that shifts the most units of what ever tat they are pedaling. This annoys me further.
  23. For £3-4m he'd be worth a punt; £4.5 would pushing, any thing over, no thanks. S'pose it depends on how much the dogheads want. Given their last two transfers, it'd be too much!
