  1. Depends on how urgently you need the money or want to sell. How long it's been on the Market for? how many viewings have you had. If you need the money (to fund purchasing another property) then you may have to take the low offer! If the house has been on the Market for a long time, 9 months+, then you probably best taking the offer, if it's only been on a month the you can take a chance and hold on for a better offer. If you've only had a few viewings in a long time, then again might be worth taking the lower offer. Really does depend on your personal circumstances.
  2. I think that the most irritating thing about plastic fans (glory hunters) is that supporting a successful team is easy, and they never have to endure the bad times, when supporting a particularly (local) club really tries your very being e.g. this season with the Villa. It is this sense of having all the trappings of supporting a successful team without the earning of those accolades by suffering endless years of mediocrity or heartache. These days, as I get older, my feelings towards the plastic fans have softened; presume that more to do with me feeling a bit ‘meh’ to the modern game. Where it still does get my heckles up is with England in a major tournament, and the “soccer Doris” as I like to call them. You know the types, the pubs are full, and some woman, who’s probably never seen more than 10 mins of football before in her life, banging on about Lampard should of done this, or Barry’s sh1te. You know the types! I just think where we you when England we losing 2 nil at home to Uzbekistan, and the football was so turgid, it made watching the current Villa team look like watch Arsenal in full flow, you’ve not earned the right to complain. Just makes me want to scream and possibly resort to violence, but I probably just tut into my pint!
  3. Dave King, one of the former directors released a statement yesterday saying that liquidation was inevitable. Was fairly damning on Craig Whyte. I'd post a link, but I sure I've seen a rule or something about links, which I now can't find, and don't want to incur the Mods wrath, so google it.
  4. Stay. I believe he's been given the target by Randy to dramtically cut the wage bill and remain in the PL. He is meeting that target. No matter how much we fans don't like it and winge, you can't sack someone for doing what's been asked of him. Additionally, need to be careful what we wish for, anyone want Steve Bruce or Mad Mick instead?
  5. Are the Tories likely to be re-lected at the next general election?
  6. I've somewhat mellow as I get older from furvent Republican to a bit meh.....! They are an anachronism but they can stay as long as : 1) they are self funding, this includes the all the police and Secure Services protection. Abolish the Civil List, the Queen can decide who in 'the family' get hand outs from the income she generates (earns). 2) they fully pay all tax that's due. 3) The Queen requishes all government roles. Can't have an un-elected head of state. I actually quite like Charles' boys.
  7. The oracle that is the TFL journey planner suggests either 78 bus to Liv St, then overland to manor house; or Overland to London Bridge, Jubilee line to Stratford, and then overland to Manor Park. Personally I'd avoid the bus, as the traffic is so bad, but it really does depend at what time she's traveling. A zone 1-3 monthly travel card will be £131, a 1-3 single using oyster card is either 3.10 or 2.60 (depending on if its Peak or Off-peak). So it depends on what time she's travelling, and how much she'll be travelling at weekends to make a judgement about whether is cheeper to PAYG or a monthly travel card.
  8. Never fails to make me smile, when you get a dentists approinment for 2:30!

  10. My own take on McLeish is that he's a decent bloke and was brought into do a specific job, to baton down the hatches for at least this season. I think that most would agree that the wage to revenue ratio was to high, and McLeish was to work within limited means to balance that ratio. I would speculate that this is a "holding" season. Where the aims would be to remain in the premier league; blood some of the youngster and to assess the senior pros. Depressing in the short term! But come the summer a number of high wage earners will be out of contract (Heskey, Petrov, Baye to name 3 off the top of my head) and provides an opportunity for the squad to be refreshed based on what McLeish has seen over the season. This may provide the opportunity for McLeish to mould the team in his 'image' and play a better brand of football. Now I don't get to see villa nearly as much as either I would like to or the majority on VT do, so perhaps I don't have such insight as most on here or am being naive, but that how I see it. One thing that bugs me is when people go on about McLeish getting the blues relegated. Whilst he was the manger in charge the statement is disingenuous when looking at some of the complementary facts. Firstly, do you expect any manager to succeed with either of the boards that he's worked for? Secondly, in his first season he joined mid season, so only had limited opportunity to assess the squad and then change it in the January transfer window. Now I'm sure someone will produce stats for that season about how many points they won pre-McLeish and under his management. My point is that he can't be solely to blame for that relegation. The 2nd relegation can be put down to the cup run, and the fact that those extra games meant the cornerstones of their defence (dann & johnston) missed a significant number games after the Carling cup final. Again some culpability on McLeish but not all his fault. So what am I saying, perhaps that it's too early to make a complete and absolute judgement on McLeish's reign, I think that he needs another 12 months to really understand what he's going to bring to the Villa. My one plea is that we all have a common cause, the Villa. Could we try to stop all the squabbling and in fighting and get behind OUR club.
  11. Our office is going to a medieval banquet somewhere near st. Katherine's docks. 65 quid pp, includes food and "entertainment", imagine booze is extra.
  12. Brilliant Lads, followed from early days, such a funny funy thread. Without wanting to be accused of being a grammar nazi, it's you're not your in the standard message "your genuine. If your up"
  13. I'm with Gareth and others, walk away. Supposedly, we were told that the price was 9m. We bid 9m. Then DW says "sorry old chaps, the price is 10m". Say we then bid the 10m, there's no reason to doubt that DW will do it again and say "actually old bean, the price is now 11m", and so on, until the price is closer to 15m. Is that still a good deal? At the end of the day, i'm not sure that N'Zogbia is this panacea to cure all Villa's ills, and there are alternatives out there.
  14. Well Wigan have already rejected 10m and there are a few clubs in for him. What would your next move be if you were the Villa owner? Me, personally, I'd walk away and move on to the next traget. If we show that we're not to be dicked about we may lose out on this target, but we'd gain far more from any other future targets. Whelan knows that he has to sell this window, as he'd only get a pittance if he tries to sell him January. Call his bluff I say.
  15. Walthamstow is definitely Villa. Only seen one nose. That was in the pub during the 5-1 victory, he didn't make it to full time. Must have crawled back under his rock.
  16. How much did the Blues agree to buy him for? £9m? Whatever the figure AM would know. Presume as he was given permission to discuss personal terms with BCFC a price with WAFC had been agreed. I can not understand how he's worth more today than he was last year. If anything the price should be less, as he's only got 1 year left on the contract. So the Villa should offer that price again, and not a penny more. Whelan is just being opportunistic as we're recently cash rich, and all these other clubs interested are Whelan trying to drive the price up.
  17. Whilst not wishing to be accused of supporting the appointment AM, I don't believe that it's as simple as saying that AM plays boring anti-football. Could it be that AM, or his brand of football, is as product of his circumstances. Let’s remember he's had two horrible boards to work for, which one would suspect would neither shell out the large transfer fees or wages required to buy players that could play a "better" style of football. In this position AM simply adopts a style that achieves (or is likely to achieve) the most number of points from the investment (players) that are available, ie, make it very hard to for the opposition to score and hope you nick a goal at the other end. If that's good enough over the course of a season, then well done, if not, what more can he do. Perhaps (wishful thinking) with a better board, better resources at his disposal, better players, AM may be able to adopt a more pleasing brand of football. I don't know, just saying. Overall, still gob smacked by the decision to approach AM, as there are better/as good managers available which don't come with all the baggage, but thinks aren't always as black and white as they may appear.
  18. Gobsmacked good, Mourinho; Ancellotti; Van Gaal Or Gobsmacked bad, Ian Dowie; Phil Brown, Barry Fry?
  19. I follow Mark Arber, Dag & Red captain on Twitter (@1arbs), long story. This morning he tweeted "Ashley Young to Man Utd a done deal apparently" we sort of knew that. But also "Steve McLaren or Owen Coyle to be the next Villa manager" I did tweet him back, but he hasn't responded. Can't think of a motive to make something like that up!
  20. You can list all FSW's achievements, but I just don't like the bloke. Can't stand the football that LFC played under him, so negative and dull. Will never forgive him for the way in which he/LFC's pursued GB; and I don't like his stupid goatee beard. FACT.
