James Collins looking solid as a rock today.

He has done all season. Collins and Diame 2 players that would improve our side at the moment

When we had dunne and Collins you knew there was a mistake in there somewhere but they also knew what it took to keep a clean sheet.seems a long time ago now!

James Collins is a very limited footballer and I am glad he is gone. He is too slow and makes many rash challenges, always resulting in dangerous free-kicks, yellow cards and even worse, goals at the back. Very prone to making errors.

He looks solid thus far and they have kept clean sheets, but West Ham play to draw every single game and they try to exploit one of the very few chances they get. They will keep more clean sheets than us, but they will draw too many games and never evolve. If he was at the Villa, he would do worse than Vlaar et al. At the same time, if Vlaar played for West Ham they would be the same or better.

Gareth Barry on the other hand should have been a priority for us. Our team is very young and need an old head, no doubt about it. Sure he would cost a lot in wages, but it would have been worth it. Clearly he has experience and his passing is very good, something we lack when we are hitting the wall against teams like Newcastle. Barry has lost his attacking capability since he is now older and has played more defensively for Man City, but as a defensive midfielder he leads the line brilliantly and guides the other players. Would have walked into our team, but I guess Lambert is too proud to buy 30+ and a player we have already had in our team.

Everton though, they look solid in defense. People wrote off Martinez as he couldn't keep a clean sheet at Wigan, but that was always about their players and not him. Same with Moyes, why would Man Utd turn into Everton? When you have de Gea, Vidic, Carrick, Rooney and Van Persie you don't suddenly turn into Hibbert, Osman and Jelavic and play for 7th. Everton haven't excelled this season, but they beat Chelsea at home and they have let in only two goals in four games. Good one for Martinez, I think he deserves some praise and also this chance to manage a better club than measly Wigan under that tool of a chairman.
