So still no takeover and seem like reports has died down a bit

A Newcastle takeover story that suddenly goes quiet?

I am shocked.

If the Saudis have these hundreds of billions why do they want/need to piss about with these share deals?
I thought she was just hired to do the deal on their behalf, and I’d assume would get paid as cash or a share for her trouble.

hopefully because of my main hope...Staveley is an investment firm, they are looking to invest! they're not looking to spunk billions in to a football team they're looking for somewhere to put their money that has a higher rate of return than what they would get from a bank

appreciate the comment about positive publicity and marketing but I think the media has got very excited about this deal without stepping back and looking at the nature of it

as for the time the negotiations are taking, I think that's normal, Ashley will be squeezing them for every penny, not many clauses in the sale contract will fall the way of the Saudi mega billionaires, I bet its a right bastard

My (limited) experience of Middle Eastern billionaires is that they don’t tend to concern themselves with business cases or even negotiating. They decide what they want and get it very quickly. They’ll often pay more just to make it happen quicker.
Something on this doesn’t add up. Why does one of the richest men/families on the planet need an investment firm involved? Why is it taking so long? They shouldn’t need time to raise the money. If MA has set the price and Saudis accept it I expect everybody would be motivated to make it happen fast.
Something here is not what it seems.

I doubt the Saudis have any idea what's happening, they've employed staveley to invest their money, this is her baby not theirs

like I said before this has come from the PIF wanting to have an investment portfolio worth $400bn, its currently at $320bn, they currently their fingers in a pie called NEOM, worth a paltry $500bn, not a clue where the other $80bn will be spent

I think the purchase of Newcastle for £300m is being blown out of proportion by the media and excited geordies, this is not sat atop the list of priorities of the sultan, this looks more and more to me like mittal and QPR, football is not the biggest enterprise in the world, they could go out and buy some far more interesting companies

I listened to a podcast (think it’s was Ornstein and Chapman), they thought it would be mid May until completion. I think Staveley, the Saudis and the Reuben brothers are all buying a percentage of the club (10,80,10). Therefore there are 3 contracts, 3 lots of solicitors and 3 “ownership” tests etc to go through, hence the delay.

Sounds nice and messy so will hopefully fall apart before too long :thumb:

That should be a consortium agreement (or joint venture or something...) internally between the 3 (think NSWE and how they bought us)

Ashley should only be selling to one source

To do it to all 3 is madness

Apparently the hold up is the premier league because the fit and proper owners test doesn’t cover the illegal streaming of their games in SA that is going on. Seems like they don’t want to approve it but can’t really find a reason within the poorly written framework they have in place. They are also not getting Government support/backing in the decision making (they must be busy with something else).

I’m only going off what they said in the podcast. They apparently aren’t a consortium, they are 3 separate entities each having a holding share.

I just don’t understand why the Saudi’s and the Reuben Brothers would be interested in sharing this. If they wanted a PL club they could buy most of the clubs outright.

Hopefully the fit and proper test also covers dismembering people who have a difference of opinion.

Already strongly linked of spending 70m on a cb in italy. This takeover completely stinks.

How the hell can  newcastle get away with spending 70m on one player than another 5 or 6?

I wouldn't worry about it. They could spend £500m and not break the top 6

We spent £150m or so in 1 year.

Yeah we are hardly in any position to complain about other clubs spending money. We Man City'ed the Championship and then went full on lottery winners again this summer, and we change owners more often than some clubs do in a century.

That koulibably link is agent fishing

Linked with man City but willing to join Newcastle... Yeah OK, Newcastle also happen to be offering higher wages... Getting his client a big move to a big club, he won't be a Newcastle player
