He retired last year at 48 as an Inspector on a big fat pension. Good for him, but that's ridiculous, unless he got hurt on the job. You have to remember he joined the Police Cadets when he was 16 and then progressed into the full time Police service. He was in Newry Police Station in N Ireland when it got hit by mortar attack and was indeed injured but that didn't influence his decision. I asked him just before he retired what he was going to do and quick as a flash he said 'something with no responsibility like Packing shelves in Tesco's' and he wasn't joking. The thing is while in the Police he also did a law degree which again for him is now just too much responsibility. A really decent guy but his years in the police have certainly changed him. chrisp65 Posted May 1, 2013 Share Posted May 1, 2013 no regrets at all of any significance lovin' the whole family guy thing, I get away with a fair bit of juvenile behaviour I go to gigs and games pretty much when i want usually regret tidying up the last doughnut, why do the fekkers put 5 in a pack? so, no regrets, but given a chance of seeing how an alternative lifestyle would pan out, I was briefly in a shockingly bad band that were very very good at self publicity and ticket sales (that got us into spectacular trouble), at the same time I was offered a job with a chandlers merchant in London alongside the Thames. Turned down the job and packed in the band. Would've been interesting to see what a cocky sod with a guitar, an eye for a gimmick and a job could've done in London. He got a commission, and his missus hoped he'd go for a good career after the war (they had five kids). Instead, he became a rural postman on the grounds that it was a job with pretty much zero stress, he'd had enough of that. I think she was disappointed, but I could see where he was coming from. Taking or leaving an opportunity that impacted your life? Job offers. Once in a lifetime experiences. Relationship stuff etc... Mine would be breaking up with my ex of 5 years who I had a flat together with, I got scared as it was heading down the formulaic house, marraige, kids route which as a 24 year old terrified me and I panicked. Ironically, just 4 years later I can't wait to meet someone and do all that. Go figure. I also had a chance to do a 4 month working holiday in Australia with free accommodation which I now wish I'd taken. Yes too many to mention really. Marrying the woman I am now divorced to. Jesus She confessed to me my late father had tried it on with her many years ago when my father, mother and i had to move in with my grandmother. As stated before it didn't go anywhere as she refused his advances but in some strange way it may have triggered her advances towards me which i still haven't been able to refuse. What i'm doing is indefensible and i know that but the sex is far better than i've ever had before as she watches porn and wants to try everything.
