The Randy Lerner thread

Lerner should be glad he didn't buy an italian team because the fans there make their owners answer for their actions, just look at what happened in Genoa today where the fans stormed the pitch and demanded the players hand over their jerseys as they deemed them unfit to wear the teams colors. Their owner (Preziosi) had to take the field to try and calm things down.

Not saying it's the way to go but at least the Genoa fans are making it painfully clear to their owner and players how they feel.

So should we!

Health and safety regulations wouldn't allow it mate.

And what do you know about health and safety regulations?

I have this vision of Delia slicing him a piece of her pie on the last day in the directors lounge then giving him a packet of home made fudge for the journey home

Pretty sure it's not allowed in Italy either mate :winkold:

Again im not saying this is what we should do, far from it. But we need to be more visual about our feeling towards the owner, the manager and the direction our club is heading

Although I understand where your coming from I'm not sure it will make a difference. We already know the owners want out and behind the scenes are probably trying to arrange that. We also know they couldn't less what the fans think. As a business it looks a case of cutting costs as much as possible without being relegated. Very dangerous indeed.

George Ramsay managed Villa for 42 years

Is that some sort of record

It would be CI but the directors controlled and selected the team up until season 1934-35 when our first manager was appointed (Jimmy McMullan). He left in 1936-37 following our first ever relegation the season before. He is also the first and last Villa manager to have started a season in which we were relegated and the next one in a lower division as our manager.

Jimmy McMullan hey! hmmm anyone notice the pattern here? McMullan was the first manager to relegate us, McNeil was the last manager to relegate us and the current incumbent is called........McLeish!

I say we stop hiring managers who are A) Mc Something & B) Scottish.

Wonder if RL will be at the Bolton game?

Think he will as it's midweek and he'll do Carrow rd so he can hook up with Delia again

I think that he will be as well :winkold:

Its more about the law about going on the pitch rather than Safety, you have more chance of them being hit in the eye by a pretzil at the manager

Is history going to repeat itself :?:

We need to get the Media talking about RL and what has he done for AVFC in the time he has been here.

He's done a lot of good too though... He wasn't held up as the ideal owner for no reason. Sure, the last couple of seasons haven't been great and he needs to learn from them, but I think a lot of positives have come from his ownership. It'd be a terrible shame if it ended like Gillette at Liverplop.

Yeah Im not doubting that, I know he has put a lot in and hopefully will continue to do so, overall he has been a fairly good owner..But the Man clearly does not know a lot about football, judging by his past actions.. I think its good if we get in a good Director of football. One that knows about the ins and outs of the footballing world.. Because clearly randy is struggling.

Oh look!

Genoa have sacked their manager after fan protest yesterday:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/sportvideo/footballvideo/9220745/Genoa-manager-Alberto-Malesani-sacked-after-players-remove-shirts-during-protest-filled-4-1-defeat-to-Siena.html

Genoa might be one of the worst run clubs in Europe but at least their owner listens to the fans...

Protests can work!!
