Paul Lambert

Gabby has already been a part of a side that was at the next level so there's no discussion to be had there. He's also currently playing way above the level he was at when Villa were there or thereabouts too. As for Weimann merely being a workhorse who runs around a lot. I think people forget how good a finisher he is.

and the fact he's a good 5 years away from being in his prime, chances are he will improve.

What I like most about Lambert is I have unbelievable faith in his scouting system and judgement of his team in signing players.

Re signing Guzan. Signing Benteke. Signing Westwood, Signing Lowton all excellent signings.

El Ahmadi is doing better this season, Sylla cost nothing and did a job. Bennett didn't work last term, but I'm sure a run as a back up left back he'll progress more. He was unfortunate he was constantly targeted by opposition as he was a weak point but he's still young enough.

While this season, Tony Moon looks far more capable and a solid left back so far. Okore is a frist choice centre back in a matter of weeks or months. Bacuna and Tonev have shown talent but will really need time to settle and learn. Helenius and Steer have yet to get the game time to show what they can do, but as I say, faith in Lambert.

I wonder what he can do when given a transfer kitty. :)

A bit of a slow start to the season and already there are some doubting the ability of our front three.

I say slow start, I mean extremely difficult against top quality defenders.

yet we have the leagues top goalscorer  :D

Interesting how Mourinho gesticulated with his hands in a circle intimating about keeping the ball after Bayern equalises.

It's a progressive lesson for us at times.....KEEP the ball.

He got fined for his comments, colour me surprised...

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert fined £8,000 for post-match media comments

Following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing, Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has been fined £8,000 in relation to post-match media comments he made after his side’s game against Chelsea on 21 August 2013.

The misconduct charge, which Lambert admitted, was that the comments implied the match referee was motivated by bias; and/or brought the game into disrepute, in contravention of FA Rule E3(1).
