Moussa Sissoko (Toulouse)

in that case we should of signed a couple of players by 2nd january

we all know (except paul maybe) that we needed new additions, hes had half a season already to decide who he wants/needs, why didnt he have players lined up for the beginning of the window? we may be better off by now considering the last couple of games

Every club works in the same way - identify targets well in advance of the window, speak to agents and clubs to gauge the fee and wages demanded. Then a game of bluff begins - at the start of the window demands of agents are high whilst they have two or three clubs chasing the player, as the window draws to a close, agents demands are often more reasonable.

Sissoko has started by asking £75k a week which no one is currently willing to pay. Next week it maybe £60k, if no takers the week after it might be £50k. If we want him we need to hope his wage demands get into our range before someone else is willing to deal at a high price.

If we can't do a deal on our top targets we will then try some of our lesser targets but that will probably happen closer to the deadline. Don't blame Lambert for the delay, he has made his requirements clear - we are waiting on PF to do some deals

So, do people find it likely that he'll come here?

Depends on which club caves into his demands first, as VillaCas indicates. Sissoko really could just wait until the summer and run his contract down if he wanted if nobody stumps up the wages now. He'd also have a better idea of who didn't get relegated. That's one of the reasons why people need to keep things in perspective when it comes to doing deals in January.

Robin Bairner@RBairner

#Marseille will try to use € from Remy deal to secure #Sissoko from#Toulouse. He wants €2.5m per year + bonuses. Decision expected today.

So thats 50k = £45k per week (I haven't checked exchange rates, this could be completely wrong) + bonuses. Sounds like his demands have dropped to something more realistic.

well farken offer him 55-60k and get him here. Bloody hell. I think were waiting for bigger clubs to buy their targets.. and Sissoko may be a back up target ie Arsenal want M'Vila.. if they dont get him they get Sissoko. So Sissoko waits for them.. and we wait for him before we goto our 2nd choice?

Perhaps we have - and thats the stumbling block

Wouldn't surprise me , Pardew has said that Newcastle's current problem no one will sign as they are near the bottom last season players were jumping at chance to sign.
