Started off exactly the same as we did in the first 15 minutes but are now 2-1 down. Hope we can avoid that today Do love the way Dortmund play though, would be fantastic to watch that sort of football from Villa. The style Lambert's attempting to impose isn't a million miles away. Young, determined players with stamina who can press the opposition well, counter quickly, and distribute the ball. One striker as a focal point, who has a good awareness of what's going on around him and also the ability to put the ball in the back of the net from various types of delivery. Centre backs who are comfortable with the ball at their feet. A goalkeeper who is very vocal and encouraging to those in front of him, whilst being reliable too. There are a lot of comparisons to be made. The difference at this stage is that Dortmund have real quality in terms of some of their squad, and we clearly have some way to go. Obviously, Dortmund are a team who could beat anyone in Europe on their day, and the fact is that we're still around the bottom of the Premier League table. That said, I think some of our players aren't a million miles away from their Dortmund counterparts, and I trust Lambert to develop our youngsters into even better players, as well as bringing in more with better potential than those that we already have. Still, we have no-one who has anywhere near the quality of the likes of Hummels, Reus, Götze, etc. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
