VT Supporter Rodders Posted September 30, 2012 VT Supporter Share Posted September 30, 2012 Albrighton starts, interesting. Glad he's not gone with Bent and Benteke actually.
AVFCforever1991
Strong lineup. I agree with dropping bent as well, he offers us nothing when we don't have the ball.
Jarpie
Dropping Bent was very surprising but Gabby and Benteke are bound to scare WBA defenders.
theboyangel
WBA Foster, Jones, McAuley, Olsson, Popov, Mulumbu, Yacob, Morrison, Gera, Brunt, Long Subs: Daniels, Tamas, El Ghannasy, Lukaku, Fortune, Dorrens, Rosenberg No Agent Ridgewell.... suppose they don't want to score an OG then :winkold:
AVFCforever1991
No lukaku starting, good for us. Really think we are going to win this. UTV.

PompeyVillan
That is a frighteningly positive team selection. Lambert is quite the tinkler, Albrighton starts and Bent dropped. I'm very glad Bent has been dropped, his lack of workrate and involvement in games has cost us massively in my opinion. It will be interesting to see what role Albrighton plays. I'm not sure Lambert will deploy him as a pure winger, but we will obviously look to get crosses into Benteke. I think we'll win this.
sonic_bouma
i hope Albys selection means we will go wide more often than not... we've really struggled not having an option out wide i just hope his crossing has improved coz it was shocking last year
Mantis
Dropping Bent is a bold move. I don't agree with this "Bent offers nothing except goals" myth but at the same time it's not like Gabby and Benteke have been in poor form so I can see why he started them. What I wanna know is, where's Weimann?
dudevillaisnice
hmm I still don't know about that lineup, Albrighton has been quite poor too. Still I hope we win and if we get 3 points who cares tbh. WBA have a strong bench though.

briny_ear
Here's hoping this won't be another Lambert shocker as in Everton/Southampton. Would be good to see Albrighton put on a display like the ones he managed when he first burst through to the 1st team
VT Supporter Rodders Posted September 30, 2012 VT Supporter Share Posted September 30, 2012 Albrighton has been injured since the summer and only played one summer. I think, especially given new manager and new style to say he has been quite poor is pretty harsh. I know he may not have been great last year, but that was ages ago. Fresh start, personally I can't wait to see how he does.
KHV
Strong lineup. I agree with dropping bent as well, he offers us nothing when we don't have the ball. I disagree with that. We all know how well him and gabby play together. I have a bad feeling we will end up hoofing it to benteke all afternoon. Benteke wasnt exactly lively at st marys without the ball either
