Mantis
My mistake, I thought he was on good money. Seriously, hes doing the bare minimum for his wage! Just because this happens to be more than most he doesnt need to be lorded. It's not his fault he has all these shit players around him. Also, he seems to be one of the only players that actually cares. The wrath of the fans should be directed at people like Gabby. He's done **** all in the last couple of years. He's paid at least double what Vlaar is and is supposed to be a fan yet he's **** shit. Edited January 23, 2013 by Mantis

Mantis
Gabby can't help being shit... Thing is he can be good he just doesn't seem to bother most of the time. The wrath of the fans should be aimed all over the club. Vlaar is as woeful as the rest. No he isn't. Some have been a lot more woeful and disinterested than others. Jarpie
Vlaar imo has been one of the very few bright spots in this season, with Westwood, Benteke, Guzan and Weimann.
BOF Posted January 23, 2013 Moderator Share Posted January 23, 2013 Vlaar made one mistake last night and it cost us the goal, which is more than a little unfortunate. But other than that I thought he was immense. Very little got past him and that was holding a very high line. Plus he regularly ventured forward and started our attacks. It was like an old fashioned sweeper letting everyone else do what was needed while going on the odd foray himself. It's just gutting that his one mistake was so so costly. Remember that since he has come back into the side we've had a good draw at a good home team in West Brom (granted, it wasn't so good given our HT score) and beaten Bradford albeit lost the tie (he wasn't there for the 3-1). It's just a shame that 5 players can't win a game, they are let down by the other 6 that are terrible.
Folski
I dont but I really would prefer him to Clark Did you see how shite in the air Clark was last night, he seems almost afraid of the ball at times.
Woodytom
What Adrian Durham has just said about Vlaar is bang on the money. 27 year old dutch international getting easily outdone by James Hanson of Bradford City! Whatever way you look at it, that goal cost us the tie.

No, our poor finishing and build up for attacks cost us the tie, even if their goal wouldn't had come, I don't think we would've scored necessary one goal or two goals (no extratime) to go through. Jarpie
We got the two goals to win the game in extra time? Fair enough but we should've won them 3-1 or 4-1, but we again went shit after the first half like against WBA.

Yep, and Ron Vlaar has been the captain - the so called 'inspirational figure' in both them games. This guy should not be immune from criticism. He hasnt been great since he signed. Not one bit. Being our best defender is nowhere near enough considering how shite the rest are - especially when your a far far more experienced player. If anything, his pedigree makes him more open to criticism for his far from impressive displays.
Dr_Pangloss
Actually, we should have spanked them for six. They are a fourth tier side with no quality and a crop of players that were recently semi-pro. Our exploits last night were an absolute bag of shit, an absolute disgrace. We are a joke of a football club.
Daweii
Having close to 40 shots and scoring only 3 times over both legs cost us the tie. Any team that has that many shots on goal and can't even convert 10% of them is bad and anyone watching saw they were scoring chances as well. AVFCforever1991
Losing 3-1 away cost us the tie Not really, we were winning 1-0 at half time and in control. Still had a whole second half to kill the tie off.
samjp26
Sorry, if it will make everybody feel better, Ron Vlaar is everything wrong with our club and cost us the Capital One Cup by making a mistake that lead to us conceding one goal. Woodytom
Vlaar even says himself that goal killed the game. Fair play for being honest, thats nice to hear. Make sure you improve Ron - and fast.
