id prefer a one legged Vlaar to a fully fit Clark

That can be taken either way. It can be taken that you want him playing tomorrow or it can be taken that you want him fit for the remainder of the season so you don't want him risked tomorrow.

Clark is increasingly looking like a poor player, I can't wait for Vlaar to come back, he should start with Baker.

They really shouldnt be judge on the last few weeks. Both of them were ready to step in next to an experienced head, they need that. Together they play like the players they are, young talents.

Yeah Clark and Baker are both talented but not together. A bit like Cahill and Ridgewell. Except Cahill was really really good and Ridgewell was piss poor to average.

if im honest Ridgewell has been a better defender for Villa than Clark was

Was thinking that this morning.

I think Baker has potential, but not Clark. He should be kept as a useful squad player, but no more than that. Clark as captain makes us look pretty amateur.

Nope they absolutely should be judged on the last few weeks. Pretty much all of them have shown that they lack the fight and the balls to perform and to step up to the plate when their backs are against the wall.

If you can't judge them when things are going badly then when should you? When things are going just great? No that's not what football is about at this level.

When they are alone with not one senior head around them?? even ridgewell didn't have that, and for the record he was wank compared to these two. Only developed his game when he left villa, and played with....you guessed it more experienced players.

What you are doing is throwing a junior heavyweight in with tyson watching him get knocked out and saying he'll never make it.

Anger clouding judgement again.

No it's an acid test that many of them are failing. None of them are super young in footballing years and have had some decent experience of first team football over the last couple of seasons.

Also Tyson is an hilarious analogy given he became a world heavyweight champion at the age of of 20 (the youngest in history), they certainly didn't hold him back. If you're good enough, you're old enough. A lot of our lads just aren't made of the strong stuff, clearly.

Yes, because Ridgewell's team-mate tended to be Olof Mellberg whereas Clark has been alongside either fellow-youth graduate Baker, or finding-his-feet import Ron Vlaar. Not a fair comparison at this moment in time. That also ignores that Ridgewell's other team-mates were more experienced too. Every criticism of every player this season has to be made in the context of the overall team.

haha fair point (tyson) but you get what I mean.

I just think they've been well and truely dropped in the deep end, and I dont think it's happened in the prem before to the extent that we are doing it. A few senior heads around the place would make a world of difference.

Thought Vlaar was awful last time we played Southampton.

Hope he has a much better game if he starts. TBH even if he's not fully fit we can't as a team look any worse than we have done for the last 6 games.

For some people low points just aren't enough. jesus!

Sorry. Just for you then I'll tell you that last time Vlaar played against Southampton we kept a clean sheet and his guaranteed man of the match performance tomorrow will be the turning point that eventually sees us qualify for Europe by the end of the season
