Rodders
one of the czechs or portugal gets to the semis? jammy gits - presumably the winner of that match plays the winner of germany v greece? ( so germany then )
coda
Good effort although Keenan's still the fixtures boss.
Genie
you must have serious amount of free time Mr Rev, this after your post in the Russia group with data from the International Ice Hockey Federation
regular_john
Barring a defeat to Croatia, Spain will almost certainly finish top of group C, which means we need to beat Ukraine AND have Sweden at least hold France to a draw if we're to stand any chance of progressing to the semis. If we're against Spain in the QFs we're out of the competition IMO.
AshVilla
Yes i think Spain could comfortably beat us without even playing Torres That 4-6-0 formation against a midfield 2 of Parker and Gerrard? Shudder....

Zatman
would have to beat Ukraine by a few goals and be difficult as its practically an away game
regular_john
Also, Ukraine are still in the competition so will be going all out for the win themselves, whereas Sweden are out and will be playing for pride alone.
S-Platt Posted June 18, 2012 VT Supporter Share Posted June 18, 2012 one of the czechs or portugal gets to the semis? jammy gits - presumably the winner of that match plays the winner of germany v greece? ( so germany then ) My understanding is that Portugal/Czech Republic will play the winner of Group C/Runner Up Group D. So England would have to beat probably Spain or Germany just to reach the final be they finish Runner Up or Win the group! If you want to win the tournament you have to beat the best and personally from a selfish point of view if we qualify I hope it's as Runner Up as that Quarter Final will be Saturday night and Brum will be heaving! Otherwise it's win the group it's Sunday and hangovers for Monday!

TRS-T
We played all our group matches in Ukraine. If we get to the quarter-finals we will play in Ukraine. If we get to the semi-finals we might play in Ukraine. And if we get to the final we will play in Ukraine. Why are we not based in Ukraine :|

If we get to the semi-finals we might play in Ukraine. And if we get to the final we will play in Ukraine. Why are we not based in Ukraine :| Because when Capello, who was manager at the time was searching for a base last November, the one they found in Poland was the best. Secondly the base in Poland was chosen before the draw was done. England did not know they would be playing in Ukraine when the base was chosen. Thirdly the players are used to travelling so it should not affect them. Europe on wednesday night, domestic on the weekend etc.

Then choose which one we go to after the draw is made.
Voinjama
And I will add they cannot wait until the draw is done to find a base because by then the best ones will be taken. Its very competitive with all the teams obviously wanting the best ones. So as soon as qualification was confirmed in October, they had to find it as quickly as possible. LondonLax
Also, from my understanding, you would still need to fly between the cities in Ukraine even if you were based there because the roads are dangerous and the trains are shit.
