Juninhio is a far better freekick taker than Beckham, over taken him the past few seasons. As have the others, Beckhams corners in the world cup were woeful. The only question mark is his on-going back problems, can he still kick the ball the same? Thats what I'd be asking. He has a unique style - which, although devistatingly effective throuought his carer, is probably the major cause of his back problems. He's a hard working player with bags of talent. True, he's past his best but we're hardly in a position to sign world class players at their peak. We need to raise our profile to move on and Beckham would do that. A big name or 2, even if past it will help us no end attracting other players (Bent, SWP, Young) who at the moment are likey to prefer other options to us, IMO. He himself through his influnence esp. with SGE wanted to prove himself as a central midfielder, that is where the 'true greats' play .... I wonder if the real reason he fell out with Fergie was his resistance to simply play that one role .... IMHO Ronaldo (effectitvtly his replacement) gives Man Ure far more than Beckham ever did. I agree that Ronaldo is a phenomenal player but to an extent he is the new Giggs while Giggs' game has slowed down. Beckham offered something different and the balance was right for that team. I really cant believe people think Beckham isnt good enough for us. It feels alot like when Larrsson was linked and there were many voices crying too old, not good enough etc etc. Soon as Man U signed him it was obvious the quality he had. I feel the same would happne with Beckham who is a good few years younger. He would be a massive jump in quality. As for Beckham not wanting to play wide...well if that is the case, that he was/is refusing to then it is to his own detriment. I can imagine Posh would want an LA pad regardless, especially if she know's her hubby may be playing somewhere a little less glamarous? The point is there is no other footballer in the world like beckham in terms of a celebrity lifestyle, he lives and loves the showbiz lifestyle and playing for world famous teams like man u and real madrid must really appeal to him He's played with zidane and ronaldo will he want to come and play with mccann and angel?
