wiggyrichard
I hated West Ham before David Gold got there...i hate them even more since he arrived!
Jon
This move by the olympic committee could end up actually benefitting West Ham. Seems they'll still be able to "loan" the stadium
blunther
I don't get it. So they'll be able to loan the stadium at £2m p.a., despite running costs of £5m p.a. - also £50m of public money is being used to convert it from 80,000 to a 60,000 venue. What's more, apparently Boris offered Tottenham some money to develop WHL if they dropped their appeal...?! How is all this public money going into private football clubs? Maybe we should get Brum Council to buy us Tevez?
Genie
Its another royal f**k up by all involved isn't it. Boris bungs Spurs £17m and cuts through some of the red tape so they can renovate WHL. Have they already had it?
Nigel Posted October 11, 2011 VT Supporter Share Posted October 11, 2011 Is it too late for us to put a bid in?
LondonLax
Levy being a clearing in the woods has probably swung the club £17m for nothing. West Ham will rent the stadium like Man City do. Probably the best solution becasue other sports and events can use it as well, as it should be.
Mantis
Why do West Ham even want to use this stadium anyway?
LondonLax
Because Upton Park is a dump
Mantis
Because Upton Park is a dump That is is but surely redevelopment of Upton Park would be a lot cheaper and easier? Another thing as well is that the Olympic Stadium would be an absolutely crap stadium to have as your home ground. They're gonna need binoculars to actually see what's going on on the pitch! Zatman
That is is but surely redevelopment of Upton Park would be a lot cheaper and easier but they would have got a free stadium and kept the money from selling the land of Upton Park
CI
Boris has confirmed it WILL be rented to West Ham How the **** is this fair ?? I hope them words removed stay down
Jimzk5
Surely Leighton Orient should have first refusal, being closest to the place
Anthony Posted October 11, 2011 VT Supporter Share Posted October 11, 2011 Barry Hearn has been complaining as league rules say you can't move to another team's patch. Unless you pay a lot of money. Levy was only ever after financial compensation and he's got it, at what cost to the public purse though? Of course, he doesn't give a **** about that. Re being miles away from the pitch, apparently there were going to be retractable seats that go over the running track.
RunRickyRun
I wonder if the ongoing legal case was about to unearth something embarrasing...
Nigel Posted October 11, 2011 VT Supporter Share Posted October 11, 2011 Surely Leighton Orient should have first refusal, being closest to the place In all fairness what would Orient do with the spare 45 thousand empty seats every week?
The_Rev
They said they would reduce it to a 25,000 seat stadium. Maybe put temporary seating over the running track and remove those seats ahead of an athletics meet. Though geographical proximity has never meant much in what is the best for a place, just ask Argentina.

Argentina can't play there as Tevez is already homesick :winkold:
