Well, that's the interlude. They come in for...

It was ok that but I think I prefered the dubby snare and bass. There is definitely a place for that or similar in the collection though, maybe to pair up with The Bongolian

Janko Nilovic was a library music god in France, much of it on the Montparnasse 2000 label.

When it was announced he was in the studio recording a 70s style instro album, collectors got a bit moist :)

'Maze of Sounds' is essentially a library album, with 'Interlude' being an underscore.

If you liked 'Interlude'? Have zip through KPM's first two volumes of 'Bass Guitar & Percussion'. They're on Spotify.

I'm not currently playing this but I sodding will be as soon as I get in the house

First time on vinyl, 2011's And The Double-O Groove of by Cornershop featuring Bubbley Kaur. This album is sung in Punjabi but the musical references are all over the place, a real melting pot

I had to go into the city centre to repair a freephone in a supermarket, it would have been absolutely rude not have bought some records. This should probably go in my reissues of the year list

Yes but different album obviously. This is probably their best album. Well regarded by critics, I think it made a few of the magazines albums of the year lists

They've been going thirty years now, released their 9th album last year.

They've had a few hits along the way. Brimfull of Asha wasn't even the highest charting single off that album, Sleep on the left side was top 40, Ash wasn't

They also donated a tune to the Remainiacs podcast which was used as its theme tune

This wasn't something I went out to buy, this was a shop suggestion.

It's bonkers. Pepe Deluxé are a Finnish electronic group that specialise in using some pretty out there obscure and rare musical instruments. We all know Graham Alexander Ball invented the telephone well two years before that he invented the earphonautograph which contained an actual ear and a human skull (look it up), it directly lead to his invention of the telephone, then there's a sexophone, an early synth otherwise called the DIMI-S invented by some mad Finnish inventor/musician by the name of Erkki Kurenniemi. The Sexophone works on a concept based on skin contact between up to four performers, who are connected to the main unit via wired knobs or handcuffs. The more skin contact and the more moisture there is, the more sounds will come out of the synthesizer. And then there's the drum machine which has been made to the specifications as laid out by it's inventor, Leonardo Da Vinci. All used on this album plus other madcap instruments you can find out about on the link below

Now all that sounds a little mad, it is but this album is actually very listenable and modern. It's also sodding brilliant and thats on a first listen, there's so much going on that it'll take a good few listens to properly tune into it

Want to find out a bit more... visit the virtual gallery of the album here (it takes a while to load)

I'm about to go and edit this into my albums of the year list

So, I was introduced to Pepe De Luxe by Mr Xann.

From there, Queen of the New Wave was a standard part of the dad taxi music for a good few years.

Fast forward to 2021, I’m in my nipper’s shared Uni house, they have a smart speaker in the kitchen booming out a House Mix Tape….there she is, the beauty that is Pepe De Luxe mixed in there with the Doja Cat and Lady Gaga and Little Nas.
