bose
Don't like the look of that line up, quite inexperienced. We need good performances from the experienced ones - Heskey, Petrov, Gabby and Dunne. Given that there are three strikers there, Gabby and Delfouneso are on the wings?
Mantis
I don't know why everybody is so surprised at Delph at left back. We knew he'd have to play there as Collins, Cuellar and Baker are all injured.
jonno_2004
No Gardner on bench
YankeeinMadrid
Why isn't Guzan on the bench? He's match fit at least. Marshall hasn't played for like 93252 years.
millbrook85
I can see us line up like --------------Friedel Herd --- Dunne -- Clark --- Delph; ----Bannan - Petrov - Bradley Delfouneso --------- Agbonlahor, ------------- Heskey I would guess that Bannan will be in front of Petrov and Bradley in a 4-2-1-3 kind of formation. Or perhaps 4-2-1-2-1. Is that a thing?
bose
Subs: Marshall, Pires, Reo-Coker, Walker, A Young, Downing, Albrighton Insanely good bench though!
dudevillaisnice
MAN CITY: Hart, Richards, Boateng, K Toure, Zabaletta, Vieira, Barry, Silva, Y Toure, Kolarov, Balotelli. oh dear looking at their lineup we are in for a long night
AngelGabriel
I see what Ged is doing, Man City will be like 'WTF' too.
RMB
Well all I can say is... WTF! Not in a bad way. It still looks a decent team. You just can't guess GH team. Is that 8 changes from Saturday?
villatillidie1980 Posted March 2, 2011 VT Supporter Share Posted March 2, 2011 Not what I was expecting - as ever!! But to be fair to GH, he has said the league is the priority and lets see what these boys can do, the Fonz is always up for it!! Come on you Villa boys!! SilverPeacock
I know we have a poor record away at City (or just manchester in general) but this from the BBC is a bit shocking: "Villa have not knocked out City since a 3-2 triumph in the 1938 quarter-finals." We've played them 8 times (winning 3 I think) in the cup so time to set the record straight? I personally think we will lose tonight, which I'm glad of as I'll be absolutely delighted if we take something.

Not so much surprised as interested to see how he will do against a team that will presumably be more willing/able to go at him.
Shillzz
Always thought the big hitters would be rested. Would be happier if Walker was at RB, but hey ho. Little Choice about Delph, so Herd is really the only "WTF" inclusion.

Mantis
Nice to see the Fonz though. He has an impressive scoring record in this competition.
RMB
Hopefully the fact we don't have two defensively strong LB and RB shouldn't be too big a problem as City aren't renown for going down the flanks.

lmarsha_926
It would be good to see how Bradley, The Fonz, Herd, Bannan and Delph all play, there is no pressure on them at all. One thing would apart from our Petrov our front 6 have alot of energy, It could work with The Fonz and Gabby getting on to Heskey's flick ons
