Direct football is the way I honestly believe that if Emile had already bagged 20 this season people would find a way to have a go Emile Heskey has done more in the last 3 weeks than Makoun has done in 6 months. Thats why hes picked and Makoun is not Heskey was poor in the last game and did nothing. He had one semi decent game against Blackburn and that makes him better than Makoun? Sorry but Heskey is past it. He works his socks off and is good at playing in other players at times, yet he just isn't good enough. Makoun on the other hand is an influential midfielder who can shift the ball at will. I know who I would rather have in my team and it's certainly not Heskey... I think people would be mad to not admit that it just hasnt worked. No, I didn't watch the HT analysis on Sky because I was at the match. I could clearly see that Heskey wasn't offering much throughout. Foreigners often take a while to settle in the PL, which is a well known fact. Look how long it took Petrov to settle (even though he was only in Scotland) and some would argue that he still hasn't quite settled. However, he was completely off the pace when he first came. The same can be said for Makoun, but he has only been with us since January. Whenever I have seen him play I have been impressed with his passing ability. Now, we have the likes of Ireland and Heskey in the team who offer little to nothing. Hopefully Ireland will come good, but that doesn't seem to be happening right now. Heskey can offer things, yet he isn't a midfielder. Quite simply I think it is a silly move to get rid of Makoun, unless we get in another quality player to replace him. He had a Pre season and he's still not doing enough to get in the first team or get off the bench. The manager doesn't rate him and TBH i don't blame him. It's rubbish blaming our style of football because all 4 midfield players ahead of him in the pecking order are all midfield players comfortable with the ball and good passing skills. If makoun was good enough he'd have worked his way into this team. He's done absolutely nothing to warrant some of the anger and dissapointmemt over him going that's been seen on here. Just another reason to add to the long list of just how disastrous houlliers short time here was and how rubbish all the excuses were to defend him.
