That YouTube video...the ibra one is a keeper mistake, he also has so much time he can do anything he wants there, take a touch a dunk him

the rivaldo one is probably the best of all time, the significance of what that goal meant, the chest control, the technique to generate that much power, its right in the bottom corner and then as much as anything for me the lack of quality on the ball in to him, what the **** else is he meant to do with that?

in terms of hit and hope, mexes for me is pure luck, he hasn't looked where the keeper is or anything he's just trying to keep that alive

The best/most difficult are the ones made on crosses. Sooooo much harder to hit than having it semi stationary above your head. The Sinclair/Van Basten/Sanches/Rooney are epic.

And lets not forget the legend of Mats Rubarth

It’s all getting pretty ridiculous - Messi scored his 45th career hattrick yesterday, his 7th direct free kick of the season and became the first player to score goals from outside the box in 6 consecutive league games (since such a stat was being taken, at least).

Hopefully both can have a major impact on the World cup.....mind you I've tipped Poertugal to go out in the groups as they have Spain and a pretty underrated Morocco team in their group so will be a struggle.

Argentina have their structure problems aswell so could be a last 16 exit.

Messi will most likely not deliver at the world cup, again. This Argentina side is poor and Messi is no Maradona, he's not going to drag them to success in the way Diego could.

If he had a striker who could finish then the international tournament stuff would already be put to bed, how did ronaldo do on the euros final??

In all seriousness though it will be interesting to see how the argies do in the summer, constantly battling themselves, if dybala and icardi arent being called up because they dont suit the system then it at least sounds like they know what they want to do, want to see if they use messi in the same deeper role that barca have him doing

He did very little after the group stages in the last world cup and in 1986 Argentina had no real quality strikers, Valdano was pretty average.

Nobody of quality of Aguero, Higuain or Tevez

Thats great on paper but saying messi has the quality of higuain whereas maradona didnt doesnt take in to account watching him miss chance after chance in finals

If higuain put his shooting boots on messi has a world cup and copa america medal

Even so, it wouldn't compare to Maradona dragging them to victory.

No id agree i dont think he has dragged them to the final but at the same time in terms of the main discussion i dont think ronaldos medal vs messis lack of one is a fair comparison

Messi's argentina have by and large been a shambles

Compare Ronaldo euro final when he was like a 2nd coach on the sideline to Messi crying after missing the 1st penalty vs Chile instead of trying to encourage his teammates

Youre going to bring crying over missing his own chances as an argument for ronaldo?

The arguments around Maradona winning the World Cup and Messi not are probably even more tiresome than the comparisons to Ronaldo.

Absolutely.

Judging a player on what their country has won is utterly baffling.
